What our customers say about their holidays

What a beautiful cottage, âolde-worldeâ, quaint and stunning!
Beautiful local area, lots of things to see, and a lovely home from home. However, unfortunately some aspects did let it down: -The cleanliness was poor, so much so that Iâd be surprised if it had been cleaned before arrival. I had to hoover on arrival, in one bedroom there was a section of black dog hair (must have been where the previous occupiers dog slept) being dog owners ourselves it wasnât so much of an issue but was noticeable and needed clearing up. Downstairs in the lounge there was bits all over the floor and we have a one year old who is crawling so this was unacceptable. My daughter dropped her dummy through a gap in the bed in the second bedroom and upon retrieving it there was so much dust that I canât imagine it had been cleaned in over a year. -The heating didnât seem to do what we asked it to do and it was unbearably hot at times, we googled and kept trying different things but to no avail - the nest said the heating was off but the house was still 24 degrees and all radiators were still on. Also there was still a large pile of ash underneath the fire which has not been cleared away either. However we did not get to use this facility due to heating issues. -The sofa does need replacing - having read previous reviews I knew this had been an issue but in response to one review this had apparently been sorted - it had not. It has a large rip in one of the cushions, when batting the cushions back into shape dust flies out and you had to reshape cushions and put them back together every 30 minutes when sitting on it. Another minor point to note - it does say that the yard is enclosed for dogs. However the neighbouring property does have right of way for access onto the road - which shouldnât be an issue once a week (for bins). However at one point we did notice the gate to the neighbouring property was open - meaning the yard is not fully secured at all times. Itâs such a shame the above points were an issue, because it was such a lovely place. I think with some attention to detail it would be worth the price we paid. However staying over new year and paying premium price - we would not rush back unless points above were rectified, but overall we did really enjoy our stay.

Nice cosy cottage.
The beds are very comfortable. Itâs not huge, two adults, two teens and a dog really filled the place but it has enough chairs and dining space for everyone. Parking is right outside for one car and the cottage is opposite a green. The Garden is lovely and has a nice swing seat and patio furniture for 4 people. Towels were provided on the bed for your use while staying which was nice. Hairdryer, iron and foldable ironing board are also provided. The fridge is a small under-counter fridge with a tiny ice box for freezer items so donât buy a lot of frozen food is my one tip, a bag of ice would fill the whole thing. We were left a pint of milk in the fridge but no welcome hamper of any sort left as described in previous reviews. The cleaning of the cottage wasnât great. Lots of dust, spider webs with a lot of dead spiders scattered everywhere. I donât mind a spider but dead ones need to be removed. All the surfaces including bannisters just felt sticky. I gave the whole place a good wipe-down of antibacterial wipes when I arrived. A few cooking utensils had old food still had on them so a few things needed a wash. Not a massive deal. The garden had old dog poo scattered about which needed picking up. The shared path that runs outside the back doors is fine, nice neighbours. If you have a reactive dog like ours then you may get a lot of barking when people are going back and forth which they do a lot. No way of just keeping the back door open and letting dogs/kids run in and out as the pathway leads out the front and to the road if someone leaves the side gate openâ¦. It is a nice place and if they sorted the cleaning side of things it would have been perfect. You canât check in till 5pm but have to be out by 10am. 7 hours is a lot of time between guests for it not to be spotless.

It is a lovely quaint cottage however couple of points to be considered.
1. The sofa is ripped on one of the seat cushions. 2. The sofa has lost all spring & firmness & is filthy with dust flying everywhere when you try to plump the cushions, which no longer plump. 3. The staircase is precarious for humans & definitely not dog friendly. You can see daylight through the steps & a couple of them feel like they are going to give way. 4. There are holes in the wall where it looks like an old hand rail was on the staircase. 5. The clothes airer is broken. 6. The garden is not dog friendly with low level gates & fencing, trip hazard paving & a shear drop with no railings. 7. The advert states there is a shop & food trucks, none of these are here & the locals didn't know what we were talking about when we asked. 8. The kitchen work surfaces still had crumbs on. If elderly people were to stay or children I think there would be accidents in the property & garden. If we were not seeing my father in law we would have returned home to Kent by now as the 4 days stay has been very stressful constantly following my dogs to make sure they are safe & the sofa not being sturdy at all & causing my physical medical issues to be exacerbated. In the end we came home a day early. I appreciate it is an old cottage however it should be advertised better with more emphasis on safety issues or lack of, the furniture should be clean & up to physical standard & truth displayed about local amenities or, again, lack of. Really disappointed as I was looking forward to a much needed & relaxing break due to high demanding job, this has been anything but.

Firstly, it was a lovely break away with our dog for our 4 year anniversary.
The cottage is well located with a local pub and a close walk to Burford town being only 5-10 minutes away. We enjoyed mostly how quiet and rural this property was as this cottage gave off a homely countryside vibe and just screams âCotswoldsâ which is exactly what we were looking for. I rated the cleanliness above because of the following we come across during our stay: 1) Large and small shower head are covered in hard water stains and specks of mold. 2) The shower screen seal is mouldy. 3) The Kettle was quite a large concern for us from the beginning so we actually ended up purchasing a kettle from the nearest B&M to use during our stay. Starting with the outer appearance with the paint chipping and limescale covering the handle. Upon opening the kettle, there was further limescale. 4) The Toaster (which we didnât end up using for this reason) had a fair amount of bread crumbs in the bottom as I am coeliac this is too big of a risk. 5) We found various cobwebs around the property. I rated the comfort above because of our personal preferences below: 1) The Sofa 2) Memory foam mattresses Overall, we would recommend but would make people aware of which I have highlighted above as considering the price I would expect the cleanliness to reflect this which saddened us more than anything else due to it being such a beautiful cottage with so much potential. In regard to the facilities, we found these very convenient due to there being a washer/dryer and a dishwasher available.

My husband and I rented Honeysuckle Cottage for a few days as we had planned to visit nearby Blenheim Palace.
From the outside the cottage is absolutely charming and situated opposite the village green. On entering the kitchen we were delighted to see a welcome pack of bread, eggs, milk and butter, a lovely gesture by the owners. The kitchen was so well equipped with everything you could possibly need and was also spotlessly clean. The sitting room was very cosy and comfortable with a dining table and access to a very peaceful, relaxing back garden. Stairs lead from the sitting room to the two bedrooms and bathrooms. The bedrooms are very cosy with limited space for suitcases as we had brought so I would recommend travelling lighter. The beds were extremely comfortable and being in such a peaceful location we had a good nights sleep. The main bathroom was lovely with a huge bath and lots of towels, toilet roll and handsoap were provided. The second bathroom was small and had a sink and small shower cubicle but was perfectly adequate. We did have an issue with the hot water while we were there but the owners were very quick to get in contact with us when they knew we had a problem. There is also a management company nearby. There are wonderful walks from the cottage and such a lovely pub you can walk to and many more good pubs for food and drink are within a short drive. The cottage would also be a very good base for touring areas in the Cotswolds. I would thoroughly recommend Honeysuckle Cottage if you are looking for a very relaxing, peaceful location in a characterful cottage.
