What our customers say about their holidays
Liz - Verified booking
Pros * Communication with owner was excellent, very informative and friendly.
* Lovely place - the views are just stunning all the way around the house. * Out of the way - so peaceful, if you want to get away from it all - this is the place. * Hot tub is fab, sheer luxury after a days walking. * Heating panels are very clever idea and look great. Such beautiful pictures, you would never guess they were heaters unless you knew - very effective too. * Beautifully appointed house, so much room - fab for a family holiday/get together. * The views are spectacular and itâs a birdwatchers paradise - red kites, jays, robins, thrush and many more, just fantastic. * Comfy sofas and beds - but super king has a quilt that only just fits across the bed so if your partner rolls over with the quilt you are without any. * Great area for walkers too and dogs. * No phone signal - great to get away from it all. Suggestions: * Canopy over hot tub for rainy days? * Rainy day play area, young ones got a bit fed up when it was pouring down all day one day - yes we did go for a walk with them to expend some energy but it would have been nice to have an area under cover to play with some large bricks or cars or something in. They brought their bike and scooter, so a bit of a flat, undercover area for them to use them in would be great. * Itâs off the beaten track so get a delivery of food or take lots with you. The local Tesco in Pontardawe deliver there, which is perfect. Cons * Lots of rules in âwelcome packâ which was a bit off putting and not very welcoming! * Off road a bit, can be awkward if you meet another vehicle. Not great for low profile cars, very bumpy track. * Very hot on arrival - Panels were on 24 and 26 in our bedroom, far too hot for us we ended up turning the top bedroom one off at night. * Wi-Fi great at first, then once people arrived at the cabin across the courtyard it went off, then came back once theyâd gone! It didnât happen again when the next people arrived though - very odd?! * £10 charge for fire supplies does not include enough fire lighters so if you allow fire to go out overnight itâs tricky to relight it the next day - on a very damp day this box only lasted the day and the fire was out by 4pm! * No washing machine, we would have preferred a washer to the dishwasher as we can always wash up by hand - wet muddy dog towels and nowhere to clean or dry them. Also when staying with little ones itâs nice to be able to wash and dry clothes if needed - they can get very messy. * Mattress protector and sheet are a bit small too and kept coming off at the corners on super king bed. * My pet hate - Dirty toilet brushes! * Itâs all a bit tired in places - e.g. grouting in bathrooms/sealant round sink in kitchen. * Bed guards for twin room would have been a good idea as they are very high for young children our 32 month old grandson fell out of bed and bumped his head. * Shower just off boot room - only static shower canât use it to wash dogs off. No heat in boot room where all wet dog stuff and wet coats are - Radiator and towel rail can not be switched on! Therefore not easy to get dogs clean in boot room. Rules state you must clean them off before they go into the house after a muddy walk - of which there were a few!! But itâs not easy to do so. * If dog friendly - why no dogs on furniture and upstairs? Itâs supposed to be home from home. Our little dog sleeps upstairs at home, fortunately our sons Labrador was also with us so she was fine in the boot room with her, but if she hadnât had company she would have cried all night.

We really enjoyed our stay at Corner Cottage, we renamed it Cwtch corner cottage as it is so cozy, chillier early mornings were spent in the lounge with the fire on and snuggled up on the very comfortable sofas under a blanket!
itâs in a lovely spot facing out onto the village green and our Golden Retriever puppy spent many a happy hour watching the sheep nibbling the grass and then trotting past the cottage, the window sill in the main bedroom is low so he could sit and see the world go by. The cottage has everything that you need for your stay and will happily accommodating people. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a huge oven, small dishwasher, washer dryer in the utility room and a fridge with freezer compartment. Parking is at the front of the cottage with room for one car. The parking to the rear (immediately outside the kitchen window) is for the cottage next door. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the third twin which is a mezzanine above the kitchen provided our teenager with a great space to chill out. The bath upstairs is large is great for a relaxing soak after a day out at the beach or walking and there is a decent shower in the downstairs shower room. For rainy days or quieter evenings there is a chess set, piano with a Beatles sheet music book, a puzzle and a great selection of books and DVDâs. The outside space runs to the side of the cottage and the patio is a nice place to sit and watch the sheep going about their daily routines. Just opposite the cottage is a public footpath that we used to take out our dog, he loved paddling in the brook and we walked him through the fields. Care needs to be taken as their is livestock roaming about. We found that the first part of the walk was dog friendly with stiles that can be walked through, but when you reach a small road and move into another footpath, the stiles are the climb over sort and not suited to trying to lift a nine month old retriever over or other large dog. Great local shop in the village selling a good variety of products and local delicacies. This is also the Post Office too. The King Arthur pub is well frequented and although we didnât stay for a drink due to the ongoing COVID situation, Grandma enjoyed a takeaway coffee. Oxwich is the nearest beach and is great for rockpooling, swimming, stand up paddle boarding and is very dog friendly. There is a hotel on the beach with a good restaurant and also a shop and other eating facilities. We will return to Corner cottage Iâm sure.

Unfortunately there were a few issues at the property which some may say are trivial.
However the downstairs toilet and shower were a problem. Firstly the lock on the door was not working, the toilet is loose and not screwed to the floor correctly, the toilet seat was loose and finally the shower head sprays out of the side. The other problem was the door from the kitchen to the living room. I know you can't change the size of the doors or the step from room to room However, my elderly father fell down the step on a number of occasions but my husband hit his head on the door frame, causing a significant cut to his head. The frame around the door is so sharp and unforgiving and no attempt has been made to highlight or reduce the risk of injury on either the low frame or step. There was also a bulb blown in the utility room and although there are spare bulbs, they are the wrong type of bulb. Unfortunately the quality of the beds were poor and uncomfortable. The two beds in the loft area were nothing more than camp beds and none of our party were comfortable at night. The corner location is also a bit of an issue with parking and as it is a pinch point In the road there were many many occasions, where people were emergency stopping as cars were coming the other way and I was fully expecting my car to be damaged at some point. Unfortunately the injury caused a downer to the holiday as it was a terrible hit, causing my husband to fall to the floor with blood pouring from his head. Although the cottage is in a lovely location, the layout and problems with the property would mean that we wouldn't book the location again.

We cut our break short my husband wanted to leave the moment we arrived but we stayed until the Thursday.
The cleaner was still there when we arrived at about 3.30 on Sunday the place is Friday change so expected it to be ready . There was lots of damp/dirt in the bathroom and twin room, found a wet dirty towel on the back of our bedroom door. Kitchen hot water tap had no pressure and no hot water maintenance man came and told us we had to boast the water heater. Lack of information about anything on the site or in the chalet , swimming pool was good grandson used it every day partly because there was nothing else to do , the key for the swimming pool area did not work so had to get someone from reception to let us in , they told us we werenât the first person staying at 48 to have this problem it needs sorting. The overall holiday was very disappointing. The site entrance is rough looking the buildings are tired and badly maintained and the first impression is bad , the empty pub/ restaurant area is a shame to see and the was not great . The children park needs maintenance also some bits were dangerous . Some of the window catches are stuck closed so couldnât open them in the case of a fire it would be dangerous. The shower knob was very hard to turn on and off husband had to turn it off because we couldnât. The taps in bathroom sink need changing as they were very hard to turn too . Would not recommend staying here to anyone.

Overal the house offered what we wanted, but there were niggling things wrong.
Unable to get into key lock. Rang owner who said âI know itâs very stiffâ so why was it not replaced, also it was put into a corner so had to be operated by left hand when most folk are right handed. Garden furniture lovely, but out of three parasols, only one with bottom pole and NO bases or table/seating holes to stand them. One 76yr old party member sat on her bed & went straight through (hurting her hip) as all the slats fell out. 2nd bed the same. Owner had to come & drill & screw both beds. Very limited head space in attic, only really suitable for kids. Bottom small lounge would be better split with one part becoming a en-suite for ground floor bedroom. If oven is used with lights in the annex, the fuse in main house is blown, plus small annex fuse box is in the wet room which would not pass 16th electrical regs. No means of opening roof windows or blinds in annex, thus one has to leave French door open at night for fresh air ?. This is not safe as there is no bolt on side door which can be accessed by anybody. Attic stairs has no barrier to prevent one from falling down them when sleepily making oneâs way to bathroom. Some bedside lamps not near plugs or with extension cables. Overall plenty of pots, pans, dishes, mugs, seats etc, but house lacks attention to detail, for the price paid.
