  By Steven E on 24-May-2018 Lovely House - perfect for big families. Stayed at Knowles House with 5 other family members including elderly parents and a dog. Wonderful house with a terrific garden. Weather was perfect and garden was superb for chilling, sunbathing or even Yoga. Met by the owners who gave us a guided tour and explained everything we needed to know from the heating to the recycling. Lovely clean bedrooms with a twin on the ground floor with its own small lounge area perfect for the elderly who have difficulty with stairs. Layout of the kitchen with the cookers and crockery, separate sink room and a third utility room with large fridge and freezers take some getting used to but no big deal. There’s a standard cooker / low level grill if your not confident with using the Aga. Big flat screen TV in the lounge and plenty of small ones in the bedrooms if your that desperate to watch TV. Showers in the bedrooms were very good and we had no issues with hot water no matter what the time of day. Lovely walk for dog walkers alongside local river one minute from the house. Journeys out to local coastal towns didn’t take long in a car. Make your own mind up about the best ones to visit - we liked Beer but won’t be rushing back to Seaton! Lovely coastal walks between Seaton and Branscombe. Took a local taxi (The very helpful Bert from Seaton Taxi’s who took all 6 of us+ Dog) to the Ship Inn at Axmouth for a couple of evening meals - Quality food, highly recommended - make sure you book.   We absolutely loved our stay at 15 Maes Awel.

  The house was very clean and beautifully furnished, accommodating myself, elderly mother, daughter and her friend and mine. My mother’s mobility is poor, so found it a tad difficult to get up the few front door steps, but once inside, it was perfect for her little trolley. My only constructive criticism, is that there was little cupboard space to put groceries in or even a bread bin. Also the house could do with a few different sized cooking dishes for when eating in and seeing as it’s a dog friendly home, maybe a few dog bowls would be helpful too. Please understand this is not meant as a complaint, as we didn’t have anything to complain about it was all really wonderful. On the last day, the hot water went off and the pressure in the boiler went down. Although it couldn’t be rectified whilst we were there, a maintenance man and plumber came out within a few hours to try and sort. We could manage well for the day as the showers are electric and it certainly didn’t cause any inconvenience. We would highly recommend this property, it is so close to the centre of Abersoch and we certainly would love to come back again. Pippa 31.5-7.6.24

  On the plus side: The location of Parkgate couldn't be better.

  Walking distance to Windermere and Bowness with all their fabulous amenities, restaurants, pubs and coffee shops. Lovely big house, 9 people, a baby and dogs and we had plenty of space. Great kitchen, well stocked and a lovely big oven and hob. Great WiFi. On the downside..... The lounge furniture was so uncomfortable. The springs had gone in both sofas so once you sat down you are practically on the floor and can't get up. So we couldn't really relax together at night. They desperately need replacing. The bunk beds are too small, okay for very small children but any older and they're not practical. One of the single beds was listing, felt like I would roll out. Garden not as shown in the listing. It's been shortened to allow for more parking.....a good thing but we had two dogs so needed that space more. The 'lean to' conservatory was rough and ready, not practical and grubby but okay to sleep the dogs. However, the good stuff far outweighs the bad, so we would definitely go back BUT, those SOFAS need replacing.

  We had a lovely few days at 15 Maes Awel.

  The house has pretty much everything you might need, it's very comfortable, spacious enough for five of us, and well situated within walking distance of the town centre or beach. The rest of the fabulous Llyn Peninsula is just a short drive away. The lovely welcome basket was a wonderful find on our arrival. We know the area well and we're delighted to have find such a lovely place to stay. We would love to return. If I had to be super, super picky, the additional of towels and a dryer would be helpful. In February, this isn't much of an issue as we didn't need beach towels and could dry clothes in the heated house. However in the summer, adding beach and other towels would increase luggage significantly for a family. In the summer, with no dryer or heating, it's very difficult to dry clothes on a rainy day. Again, this is just if I'm being super picky. The house is even nicer than shown on the photographs and I would thoroughly recommend it.

  Reviewed 30 August 2017 Beautiful Victorian Home I stayed at Knowles with 11 family members including my elderly parents and children and it was a wonderful break for all of us. Knowles is a beautiful Victorian home that the owners once lived in with their parents. The house is very comfortable and cosy and each room has been left sympathetic to its origin which we all found lovely. The garden is amazing, the owners employ a gardener who clearly loves the garden as his own and keeps it pristine with beautiful flower beds and even a cottage garden with herbs etc growing in it which we were able to use. We were very lucky with the weather so we chose to stay at the house most days (we usually eat out a lot) but because the garden was so lovely we chose most days to hang around and eat Alfresco. The only negative I can think of is that we left our 2 dogs at home, what a mistake, they would have been in seventh heaven.
