We’re really not sure what went wrong here, but the house was in an absolutely unacceptable state when we arrived. There was hair all over the floors and sofa, grime and mould in the bathroom, stains up the walls, and only one glass provided for four guests. The outside bin was completely full and overflowing, adding to the mess. A foul smell was coming from the dishwasher, which still had old food inside. To make matters worse, we were travelling with our 11-month-old baby and didn’t feel it was safe or hygienic for her. Our daughter was sick in the car on the way, and we didn’t even feel comfortable washing her clothes in the machine, as we were genuinely concerned they’d come out worse. To their credit, the host was very apologetic and offered to arrange for the property to be re-cleaned. But the property was like âchalk and cheeseâ, one side picturesque and rural and the other feet from the A18, which is definitely not rural. The A18 is an extremely busy road, 24 hours a day - lots of lorries, which did not adhere to the 30 mile an hour speed limit. Felt like they were passing by the side of the bed and even woke up scared a time or two not knowing what it was. Iâm a light sleeper with Multiple Sclerosis, so sleep is very important for control of my symptoms. My husband is a deep sleeper but even his sleep was disturbed. There was definitely no lying in. A shame, a lovely property, with a good pub and restaurant within walking distance, but the road definitely took the edge off the holiday. Even considered not staying when we first arrived, but managed to cope with it.

When we arrived we was met with a very mess place from previous guests. They let this go back out before it had been cleaned. No bedding, mess kitchen with dirty cutlery and left over pot noodle pots. Dirty frying pans left everywhere and plates and old food. Upon telling the host they told me that they would give us £10 per person to go out and have a drink and wait till 7 so we would be checking in essentially at 7 not 4. When explaining to the host we would like a discount due to this, I was met with a very sarcastic and unprofessional outlook. I will not be booking again and I advise you not to either!! This is the first bad review I have left on air BnB and I have hundreds of stays due to work. Awful sarcastic company! Who ever is behind the key board. DO NOT BOOK!

when we first got there, there was no one to check in with and the door was wedged open so we had to call up to find out what to do, after we finally got sorted and go into the room there was only a few cleaning supplies which was okay but after i had cleaned and wiped everywhere myself i was 100% sure they hadn’t been used for anything as the cloths i had brought was coming up black and the fridge still had food debris inside it so i had to scrub it clean. There was a radiator in the room that had been set to come on and off certain times during the day but you could never fully turn it off and with the weather being 18+ °c you didn’t really want it on but had no choice i tried to turn the thermostat down but it always went higher after about half an hour.
