  Very well equipped and tastefully fitted out barn conversion.

  This is located in an extremely quiet hamlet just outside Oughtibridge. Sheffield is just a 10 minute drive, but if you go the other direction you are presented with miles of open countryside. It’s a great location. Oughtibridge has a number of pubs and takeaways ( I recommend The Pheasant) Going back to the accommodation, there are some lovely touches. The kitchen is amazing with a massive central island made from railway sleepers. (as are many things around the accommodation. A huge fridge freezer, dishwasher, loads of cutlery and utensils and lots of crockery and glasses. We have been to so many places where there are 4 cups and four plates etc. Not here! Also downstairs is a marvellous utility room with loads of space for all the muddy shoes, coats etc. Bedrooms are all doubles and beds are extremely comfortable . The master bedroom has an en-suite and huge French windows giving the most amazing view. Minor criticism is that the rooms could do with a bit more storage for clothes. There is a downstairs toilet and shower. Beautiful family bathroom upstairs with twin wash basins and walk in shower. (en suite also has a walk in shower. The showers were excellent though the owner might want to think about fitting a glass screen, as it’s easy to flood the floor. The living area is comfy and has a massive 78 inch smart TV. Everyone loved this. Another feature of this place is all the lighting. There are lights everywhere enabling you to create whatever lighting mood you like. The only problem was knowing which switches to turn on and off/dim. I think I counted 32 light switches downstairs. I think it would be a good idea to label them or do a diagram,! Outside, garden furniture is plentiful with a big outdoor sofa and table set outside the front and another nest to the private hot tub. The hot tub is huge and was very pleasant. It’s a few yards away from the house and when it’s dark could do with a bit of outside lighting, but again a minor issue. The owner , Simon is a great host, very welcoming and always available to contact if you need anything. Plenty of private parking. There is a large lawned area big enough to exercise a dog, which is shared with the other cottage on the same piece of land. Overall, highly recommended .

  On arrival to Green Barn we were met by the owners, Simon and Amy.

  Green Barn was just as listed with amazing views and open countryside. We arrived before 3pm and were shown around and given instructions on using the kitchen appliances and given lots of menus and guidance on where to eat and get take aways. We were amazed at the facilities as soon as we entered the cottage. Bespoke kitchen with a huge central island which was a feature of the downstairs.. very clean and bright with big doors leading out onto a patio. The owners had purchased new luxurious patio furniture and a brand new BBQ was ready for us to enjoy. The 3 bedrooms upstairs were all good sizes. The master had amazing views of the country side through big double doors with a glass Juliet balcony. The en suite was tastefully done with a wet room shower. The 2 other rooms had a main bathroom next to them with a luxurious free standing bath and his and hers sink. Also a wet room room shower to complete the look. A real wow factor! Everything done with great taste and super quality. The beds and pillows were very comfortable with good quality linen. The out door facilities were excellent. Plenty of seating for 6 people and A hot tub to make the weekend relaxing and very chilled. . We went to the local shops and pubs in the village of Oughtibridge and also had a delicious Chinese take away from the Cantonese next to the village store. All of the local people were very friendly. Would definitely recommend Green Barn to everyone. Views to die for! Facilities and accommodation of a very high standard. The owners should be proud of what they have achieved.   We stayed at Ardeevin Cottage for a week and it was just lovely from start to finish.

  The cottage itself has been renovated to an excellent standard in every room. The only negative and that was only slightly was that the courtyard garden is very small and is mostly taken up with the 2 wheelie bins, you wouldn't want to sit out there. The owners have some lovely touches, providing handmade cakes, milk and prosecco for our arrival were top of the list. Towels, Linen and toiletries from The White Company did not go unnoticed. The kitchen equipment exceeded my expectations and all bases were covered. Including garlic press and a panini maker. I had packed dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and toilet cleaner and there was no need as everything was already there. If I was to make any comment it would be the lack of vacuum cleaner and mop and bucket. Myself and my daughter both have very long hair and I would have vacuumed upstairs had one been available. I would have also mopped downstairs during the week as 4 people and a dog for a week do tend to make mess however hard you try not to. The location of the cottage was perfect for us, we could eat out and go for drinks just moments away and were in the beautiful peaks within walking distance or a short drive. We would definitely come back to Ardeevin Cottage we loved it.

  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ardeevin Cottage in Buxton.

  It was definitely a home away from home! We were impressed with the cottage. It was modern, well appointed throughout, clean, cosy lounge, lovely separate kitchen and some nice touches throughout. Loved the main bedroom with the beautiful feature light and comfy bed. Great shower in the wet room! There was everything we needed. Close to the shops and pubs and a short walk down to Buxton Town centre. We can understand why Ardeevin cottage is so popular and would definitely stay there again! We enjoyed our holiday in Buxton and visited some places we have not been to before. The owners have left some useful information on places to visit if you are not familiar with the area. The Sykes website says off road parking. This is not correct and have mentioned this to Sykes, but they have not changed this at the time of review. The owners description says parking outside the cottage. This is on a first come first served basis. There were only two occasions where we were unable to park but found parking nearby, it was not a major issue for us. There is an information pack that the owners have provided and this shows alternative parking nearby if needed.

  The cottage is Nestled down a side street off the main road, parking outside is achievable but u need to tuck your car right in, but fine and quiet.

  There is a dog friendly pub just a couple of doors away with warm welcoming staff. Close to all towns amenities. The cottages itself was immaculately clean with extra special touches. The kitchen is separate from the living area and has a gate/door on which was perfect for our dog as he could sleep in his bed in the kitchen, without trying to sneak upstairs. The settee is one with no back just lots of scatter cushions they are plenty of cushions, however it was difficult to get comfortable at times. ( as mentioned previously) Wouldn’t be suitable for very tall people or guests with reduced abilities as very low. ( I’m 5ft 11 and struggled) Fabulous cottage and location just be mindful of the settee, there is another two seater settee in the property ( under the stairs) better suited for getting out of but you can’t move this to enjoy the lounge as the main settee is large and L shaped. 10/10 for location cleanliness and decor
