What our customers say about their holidays
John - Verified booking
I read other reviews before we stayed and generally what I read is true.
It's a nice lodge, good spot on the park, it's snug, the beds are comfy, the facilities in the lodge and on the site are decent and we enjoyed our stay. There were no functional issues with anything at all in terms of the lodge, everything was fine. But....it suffers from a lack of personal touch and is showing signs of age and some of the stuff could easily be sorted. Little things like the hot tub buttons have worn away so you can't see which button does what. We only figured out there was a light under water on the last day. The decking furniture is going rusty, seat pads are like super thin. Easily sorted things! The outside fencing and flooring is starting to go rotten in places too, particularly the gate and the decking around the hot tub. And the actual lodge external walls have had paint layered on top of paint to cover where it's blistered which makes it look a bit of a mess. Not big deals and none of it affected our holiday at all but when you've paid over £1k for a week you want a little bit of luxury and I didn't feel like it had that. Some of the kitchen utensils in the drawers were dirty and there were some dirty pots in the dishwater too when we arrived. That's no fault of the owners, it's entirely down to the previous guest who was too lazy to clean them. But again, it's not what you want. Maybe it's to be expected when a 3rd party company is managing things. They'll be using minimum wage cleaners who've got 10 lodges to clean in 2 hours so all you get is a superficial cat lick. I can put up with that when I book a Sun £9.50 a day break at a Haven Park in Scarborough but not when you're on a 5* luxury establishment. Things like a dirty sponge scourer and a plastic food label left on the decking. Just silly careless stuff! I saw the owners responded to a similar review by saying they stay regularly and they take a pride in it. I have sympathy with them. I can't imagine the costs of maintaining a lodge on a park like Limefitt and the last thing you want to do when you visit yourself is spend all your time painting and decorating but it really needs a spruce up. It probably reads like I wouldn't recommend this lodge but I would. It's in a great spot and we did have a good time. It just needs a bit of TLC. That's all! It wouldn't take much to make it perfect. Just a word about the site. There's a lovely Bar/Restaurant but they kept closing early because they said it was quiet. Even Saturday night they called time at 9pm which was frustrating. That's really bad, short term thinking. We just didn't bother going in after the 4th night because of it so they've pretty much done themselves over there! Self fulfilling prophecy. How do you expect to be busy if you keep randomly closing early?

We really enjoyed our stay at Striding Edge (sorry for the late review!
) We came as a family of 4 with 2 children aged 5 and 2 1/2. It was so nice to get away all together, into the beautiful surroundings of the Lake District. The cabin is so private and is in a really great spot. It was quiet and secluded. The cabin is decorated really nicely, is comfortable and practical. Beds were comfy too! We liked the open plan of the kitchen, dining and sitting room. Great to be altogether and not in seperate rooms. The hot tub was amazing. Even the kids enjoyed it! Our only suggestion would be for some soft wired lighting outside near the hot tub (as we both took some books to read but as it was dark we had to talk to each other instead! ha!) However, we really enjoyed sitting in the hot tub under the stars, we got 2 clear nights and the views were breathtaking. We've never seen so many stars. The wi-fi worked well for us, however our phone signal was poor to none. This was refreshing though and it was nice not to be bothered by our phones! We had a drink in the on-site pub which was clean and had lovely service. They also had several games for kids such as wooden building blocks, card games, connect 4 etc. The on-site park is also good, and the views of the mountains from it are fantastic. We spent a lot of time in Bowness and Ambleside, but also visited Brockhole, Aira Force Waterfall and Pooley Bridge (Fabulous Gin Shop called Chesnut House - recommended!!) Great service from Lake District Holidays too. Really enjoyed our stay here. Much needed quality family time together. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The views, the privacy and a lovely cabin What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Aira Force Waterfall nr Pooley Bridge

Wow what can we say?
This was our 7th consecutive stay at Limefitt Park and our 1st time in Striding Edge Lodge. We always stayed in the Beckside area of the park but this year fancied a change and chose Striding Edge and we weren't disappointed. The lodge was immaculate on arrival and a real home from home. It had everything we needed and more. We had our 18month old with us and found the lodge to be warm and cosy as well as spacious. The fridge and freezer are of good size and it was helpful having the family bathroom as well as the en suite. We didn't feel over looked at all and we really enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings! There are lovely views from the lodge of Troutbeck Village and surrounding fells. The weather wasn't great this year but this didn't stop us. Thank you to Lake District Lodge Holidays for the fantastic, easy and pleasant booking process and to the lodge owners for providing us with a fantastic lodge to which we had an amazing much needed relaxing holiday in. We can't wait to return to Striding Edge for 2 weeks next year! What did you enjoy most about your stay? The hot tub and cosiness of the lodge. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Loughrigg Tarn is a beautiful circular walk. Lovely picnic place although parking is limited. It is a child friendly walk however there is a minor road section but you could easily turn around and walk back the way you came if you didnt want to include the road.

Fantastic stay at Striding Edge Lodge.
Lodge was well equipped and we found the beds extremely comfortable. Hot tub is very private and was maintained every day. We have stayed at Limefitt many times before and always found it very peaceful. Haybarn has excellent service and all our meals there were very good. If your looking for a lively, noisy holiday this is not for you. If you want peace, quiet and relaxation in beautiful surroundings then would thoroughly recommend Striding Edge Lodge and Limefitt. Have no problem recommending Lake District Lodge Holidays, we have always found their service excellent, great customer service and attention to detail. Rydal cave is a lovely day out, a fair walk but not too challenging. The children had a morning making chocolate at the Coco Bean chocolate shop Hawkshead and they loved it! Would also recommend the Watermill at Ings for food and their collection of beers from their own micro brewery. A big Thank you to the Lodge owners and Lake District Lodge holidays for one of the best holidays we have ever had in the Lake District. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Total relaxation. Kids covered in Chocolate at the chocolate workshop. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Rydal Cave. Park at White Moss Car Park, Rydal. Signposted to the cave from there.

Having stayed at Striding Edge before we knew we were going to a real home from home for a family holiday to celebrate both our 30th birthdays with our little boy.
We weren't disappointed. We found the lodge to be immaculately clean as always, lovely and cosy and we especially liked the hot tub to relax in the evening after exploring new parts of the lakes we haven't previously visited. The lodge is in a very peaceful location with beautiful views and was the perfect holiday to relax as a family. We cannot wait to return for 2 weeks next year! The Haybarn Inn on site is very reasonable and we enjoyed a lovely evening meal there. We even done the walk behind the Haybarn pub which is a lovely circular walk, not too strenuous offering lovely views of the Troutbeck valley, Windermere and the Langdales, joining the main road back to the park past the church. We enjoyed it so much we did it twice and the 2nd time crossed the road and walked up into Troutbeck Village crossing the newly refurbished footbridge destroyed by Storm Desmond. As always thank you for an easy booking process, and thank you to the lodge owners for providing a real home from home for us to enjoy. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The cosyness of the lodge and exploring new parts of the lakes we haven't previously visited What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Ashness Bridge and Surprise View (it really makes you go wow!) Near Keswick
