What our customers say about their holidays

  • Mrs Bottomley - Verified booking

We holiday several times a year. A mix of mostly self catering and two hotelbreaks. Lostwithie/l is a firm favourite and especially Brunel Quays but not this time. On arrival there was no welcome. Most owners are happy to welcome guests with a text or card on arrival, often both. It’s usual to find a cream tea or cake on arrival and milk in the fridge and tea bags. Sometime a bottle of wine. Some guests travel a long way. This welcome is greatly appreciated. We arrived and there was no welcome text and on entering the property, no welcome card. No milk in fridge, nothing. It was January and the property was cold. Nothing said welcome. We tried to turn the heating on but no luck. The lovely neighbour had a look but said it was different to his. That evening we went to The Globe for dinner and came back to a cold property. Then after a shower went to bed. OMG. The smell from the bed linen/duvet was horrendous. We were seriously thinking of going home next day so I began repacking. Next morning I phoned the rental office and they were helpful and said someone would come round. Two people arrived with new bedding and a new duvet. One of the ladies seemed very familiar with the heating system. It was set for one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening. That was changed and I have to say that after that we were warm. Thank you for that. Also the bed was newly made and fresh but what we experienced should not have happened. I mentioned to the ladies from the local office that there was no welcome and I was told that the property was a totally managed property and the owners had no input. That is no excuse. Hospitality speaks volumes and here it was seriously lacking. We even had the distress of finding the curtain at the front door, a large door andmassive curtain on the floor. It parted company with the curtain track. Overall this was a stressful holiday and it was meant to be very special. IT WAS A BIRTHDAY HOLIDAY.

"Probably the best view we've ever had of any holiday villa we've stayed at, this includes the south of France, lake district, Devon, Germany etc.

Just amazing! The house was very comfortable and had some little touches that we really loved - binoculars, really well equipped kitchen and lots of mugs, so you don't constantly have to wash up. The large fridge freezer was great and made sure we enjoyed the best of the local produce. The beds were all really comfortable and the linen good so we all slept really well. Carbis Bay is a great location, really quiet being residentail but a short walk to St Ives for all the hustle and bustle, perfect. Porthmeor beach cafe - we saw two seals swimming past whilst eating some of the best tapas and fish I've ever had . Magical! The Queens hotel St Ives - we pitched up on a rainy night and had some wonderful food, check out the menu it is just superb. And then to top it of they had an open mic night, a great time for everyone. Godolphin - we went for the bluebells and spent a great time at the property having a tour of the house and enjoying the local arts and crafts at the food and crafts fair.Glendurgan gardens - beautiful and with a great history.Clamoring over the rocks at Godrevy point and again we were joined by a seal for just a few minutes but they were very special moments. We always find Cornwall a special pace but this property made sure we could make the most of out time, even if just walking down to the beach and watching the waves roll in." Wonderful property, just what we needed for our party for our daughter's wedding!

She stayed with us and left from there on the wedding morning looking gorgeous! One bathroom between 6 was sometimes challenging but we knew each other well enough that used the ensuite bathroom as second one for anyone. Gas BBQ worked a treat. Though we had no times for games, a comment in guest book alerted us to the amazing boardgames, etc. in the table in the living room - maybe highlight that much more clearly for future guests? Both toilets just occasionally continued flushing for a long time; I lifted lid of cistern of one and managed to do something (not sure what!) to stop it happening. One pint glass broken but able to let owner know - disposed of it in domestic waste wheelie bin. The recycling bag not quite able to hold all the recycling we generated. We chose the property as my husband is disabled and the access to the large ensuite bedroom via the French windows was fantastic. There is a tiny step into the ensuite bathroom and 2 steps up to the kitchen but with help he was fine. Otherwise, the downstairs is on one level, with wide doors and passageways. From the listing's wording, it wasn't too clear which bedrooms upstairs and downstairs had option of twin beds. Local 24-hour garage 2 minutes away had a very useful shop. All in all, a marvellous place to stay, have left us with happy memories, thank you! Would highly recommend it.

This is the third time we have stayed at the premises, the father in law booked the previous visits, and every time the place is spotless and well kept.

Minimal damage wear and tear over the years. The paintwork is still clean and fresh, as is the tilings and fixtures in the bathrooms. No mold or mildew or stained grout anywhere! Clean and crisp. The facilities are excellent. The host is lovely and helpful, Fresh eggs on site, lovely bits upon welcome( tea, coffee, sugar, cookies, washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, scourers etc) , the kitchen is well stocked with enough cutlery and crockery and utensils for 8 people for a functionable holiday let property not a professionals chefs suite. People complaining about not having a colander or grater are being picky. The fridge freezer is a very decent size and the bonus of a washing machine helps! Great tv and WiFi. Depending on the proximity of where you’re sleeping, and how much of a deep sleeper you are, you may be woken by the cockerel in the morning. Take ear plugs if your a light delicate sleeper. The bedding and towels are clean and crisp. Overall excellent property in an excellent location and we will be returning in the future.
