What our customers say about their holidays

  • Graeme - Verified booking

    Awful. Total disappointment.

We booked a 5 day break at extra cost because we really wanted to enjoy an outside hot tub, but it didn’t work. It heated up but the motor didn’t put any hydro-bubbles into the hot-tub, so we basically we had an outdoor bath but no hot-tub. All were reported to Sykes and the manager during the holiday, but still no engineer was called by the manager who attempted to fix it himself but to no avail. The downstairs heating didn’t work, so with temperatures of at least -2 in January the evenings were freezing. The upstairs heating worked so we just went to bed early. Missing cutlery on arrival, so one of us had to eat an evening meal without a fork, this was rectified two days later but so annoying as we were in the middle of nowhere and not easy to just go and buy one. No welcome pack on arrival, no instructions as to how anything worked, not that it mattered because generally most things didn’t work. I have had over 18 holidays with Sykes and enjoyed them all, but this one wasn’t just bad, it was terrible. Avoid. Graeme.

    Where do I begin?

What a treat! Beautiful lodge, exceptionally well equipped and no expense spared in making this a cosy, comfortable, high-end holiday home. We were so impressed with the decor and details that made this accommodation feel really special. The arrival provisions were a lovely surprise and even some beautiful fresh flowers to welcome us! How amazing! A great base to explore the surrounding area. Spoiled for choice in all directions. We were on a family break with our nine year old, two year old and our four-legged friend. The lodge catered for all. Games, smart speakers and smart tvs, a travel cot and booster high chair for our toddler and lots of doggy friendly touches for the pooch. A large BBQ, beautiful outdoor furniture on the deck (once again, really attractively decorated) and even a set of golf clubs! The owners were so lovely and really helpful. Book The Treeline! You won’t be disappointed.

I visited Treeline with a young family and the property was ideal.

Located not far from the A1 and all the places we wanted to visit, Alnwick and the new Lilidorei, Cragside National Trust and Bamburgh to name a few all within a max 30 minute drive. We were drawn to Treeline on Sykes due to the lovely interior photos and it didn't disappoint when we arrived. The owners provided a travel cot (you need your own bedding) and a high chair for us and there was picnic tableware available which saved on bringing toddler tableware with us. A delicious treat of donuts was very welcome on arrival along with some milk, bread, butter, jam and hot drink choices. It was refreshing to see that some herbs and condiments were provided at the property, so many self catering places don't provide much but Treeline had plenty of touches like this. We have already recommended Treeline to friends and family and will definitely stay again, a great base in Northumberland!

Staying at Wood Sage was a real treat!

The accommodation is 5 star all the way. There are so many home comforts and little touches that really do set it apart and place it very highly in the 5 star category. Immaculately clean, incredibly comfortable beds, top quality towels and bed linen to name but a few. The deck area is a complete sun trap and is arguably one of the best postioned lodges on the site. The lodge is ideally situated between Bamburgh and Seahouses and is in very easy reach of the Coastal Path and all of the sites in the area. Very quiet at night and we had the best nights sleeps for years! A fantastic lodge that is more than home from home and will not disappoint. Thank you to the owner who we got to meet, nothing was too much trouble and the goodies on arrival were very welcomed (especially the wine!). No doubt we shall return to Wood Sage.

  • Marlyn - Verified booking

As we opened the door it felt like stepping into something very luxurious.

The property is absolutely beautiful and immaculately presented. Our stay was extremely comfortable and we simply could not fault the accommodation at all. On our next trip to Northumberland we hope to book the Treeline again. Facilities on the actual site could be a little improved but I think this is in the planning e.g. there was nowhere to recycle. I asked at reception and the girl confirmed there were no recycling facilities. If we had stayed for longer than 3 nights it would have been really handy if there was a washing machine/laundry on site too. We didn't explore the dining options on site so can't comment. The park was super and the kids loved it. Thanks for a super holiday. Our first in three years so it was all the more important that the accommodation was so fab. Thankyou Marlyn
