What our customers say about their holidays

A wonderful family three days was spent by us at Arlington Mill.
(There were ten of us). It is an amazing building and is just right for a large family group. There is so much space that everyone was satisfied with their own en suite accommodation. We ate in on two nights, preparing huge banquets in the massive and well-equipped kitchen (two freezers and two fridges!). The Catherine Wheel Inn is a stone's throw up the road and did us proud on one evening. This mill is an amazing place and there is so much to see in the village and surrounding area. It is a delightful part of the Cotswolds. Just one or two minor gripes. When using previous rented accommodation we have usually had a TV set in the bedrooms. Arlington Mill does not, though we were probably too tired to bother, anyway! The TV in the lounge appears only to receive programmes via Sky as Freeview failed to pick up any signal. The soundbar failed to switch on and is very precariously attached to the set. I am familiar with the model and it seemed to be inverted? We tried everything to get it into action, but it seemed dead. We brought DVD's with us for the grandchildren but were unable to use them as the player was not connected to the set and the leads appeared to be missing. The heating system is quite complex and not to be messed with! The timer appeared to be incorrectly set though we were frightened to fiddle with it and left it well alone! In leaving it as it was the heating seemed to come on very late in the evening and hardly at all in the morning when we were getting up. The master bedroom, however, was always warm. As a result, we had to purchase heaps of logs and used the very efficient log burner to heat the dinning and associated lounge area where we spent most of our time. These are only minor gripes about a holiday let which is second to none. It certainly has the 'wow factor' and is well worth the money. Congratulations to the owners who have done a great restoration job on what is a wonderful old building of some significance.

We had a great stay and are sorry we didn't get round to writing in the visitors book.
Unfortunately I broke my elbow during our stay (not at the cottage) so there was a bit of to-ing and fro-ing to hospital! Happy for the following to be published: The location of the cottage is absolutely fantastic - pretty and quiet village, no traffic concerns (unlike nearby Stow-on-the-Wold), great pub next door, gorgeous church view, and great to have parking for 4 cars. Cottage was very well appointed - there was nothing we needed that we didn't find. The stairs are definitely a bit of a challenge for older people and young children but this is made clear in the listing. The garden was wonderful. It would have been nice to maybe have some cushions or more comfortable garden chairs. Also a shame the only direct access to the garden from the house was blocked off by the conservatory which we didn't have access to. It would have been great to have a few garden games to use - boules, croquet maybe... My only criticism would be that the directions could have been better. I think it mentioned that the access road was just on or after the bend after the church but don't think it said which side of the road and since the sign at the entrance to the driveway says 'Steeple View' we all assumed this was a private drive to that house only. Just mentioning this house sign in the directions would be very helpful. Communication with Character Cottages was good. The inflexible cancellation policy would not make this company my first choice in future.

A family holiday - consisting of three generations.
A wonderful holiday cottage full of character and charm. We ordered an online Sainsburyâs shop, delivered to the property upon arrival ( make sure you write in comments to deliver to the rear or the property- this helped them not take the wrong turn to the front !). Wonderful clean property, beds really comfy enough space for all the family to enjoy and not to feel on-top of each other. Games for children and great channels on the tv for all to enjoy. We had an issue with heating on the first evening, wifi nest dropping out .. but Sykes out of hours came to the rescue and sent some one out to help .. they turned up with extra wood for the log burner as a back up .. was soon back on so all good. Note to anyone with mobility issues.. stairs can be a bit steep in places and low beams on upper floor .. my 6ft 5in son managed to duck to gain access to upper floor but those less agile and tall may find this a bit of a challenge. Beautiful house, grounds & village, we made lovely memories as a family just wish we couldâve stayed longer to explore.

The cottage was lovely, in a beautiful village, the bedrooms were great and spacious.
It was strange having an bathroom for 2 rooms to share that the second room had to go through the first room to access it. We were all family but my sister was staying in that room and my husband in our room so it meant a bit of planning to ensure they didn't walk in on each other! The garden was nice but had no seating and it was lovely weather so we had to carry chairs outside and I asked a friend who was living nearby to bring us some camping chairs. The company arrived with garden furniture on our last day so it will be there for others but we missed out! The kitchen and laundry room were not very clean when we arrived. We had to clean the bins and the laundry room floor, some of the plates and glasses were also dirty. They could do with adding a coffee machine for a property this size and grading, its only £70 and it would be a very welcome addition. Also a bit more lighting around the dining table would be a good addition as its a dark space.

We stayed at Little Tithe over New Yearâs in a group of four adults and four children. It was a brilliant house for our purposes and we all had an absolute ball. The house is extremely well presented and felt very homely. The kitchen was incredibly well-stocked and had everything we needed and more! Itâs a fantastic location in a beautiful area with Bourton House and Gardens less than 100m away as well as a short drive to various little towns and villages. Communication with the hosts was hassle-free and easy and they were always very fast to respond to any questions. They even sent us one of our daughterâs slippers (that we left there) in the post! Would highly recommend! A fantastic stay in an extremely well equipped and stunning house. Thank you for the lovely hamper and treats.
