What our customers say about their holidays

A gem of a hideaway, secret and welcoming.
Great views from all the windows and plenty of outside space to sit, chill out and enjoy. It was smashing for me, all on one level and easy to get around. The bed was comfortable with enough pillows and extra cover if we felt cool. More than enough towels for the compact bathroom and plenty hot water. I sat outside on a sun trap terrace and on the deck reached from the sitting room. A brook burbles and gushes through the garden and goldfinches and blackbirds were so very entertaining as were the woodpeckers flying to and from the nest. A wonderful place for some armchair birdwatching. The garden was a great with trees, shrubs and flowers all slightly wild and romantic with a feel of a real secret garden that was fun to explore. Our host was great, showed us around and very usefully advised which pubs to avoid! Itâs a superb position for a day at the beach, not far to Seaton and Sidmouth. Excellent for shopping in Honiton, great butchers, wine shop and a plethora of cakes and other treats to be had. Not far into Somerset are Crewkerne and Ilminster for more cakes, art, music and gentle strolling. An absolutely fabulous holiday breakâ¦

For a cottage that will accommodate 4 people, there were only 2 chairs in the garden.
The garden was overgrown and had an upturned wheelbarrow as a back gate which our dog nearly lept over. There was no welcome information left for us which would have been nice. There was an innocuous looking basket on the floor in the sitting room which contained some details about the local area - we didn't notice this until the last evening of our stay. This would have been better served if it were left by the visitor book. It would have been nice to have some history of the cottage i.e. age, original use, old photos etc. This could have been made as a wall hanging or even just some laminated sheets left on the table for occupants to read. The bolt off the bottom half of the stable door was missing which meant we couldn't leave it open for ventilation as the dog would dissappear into the insecure garden. The cottage has potential but the owners need to invest more time & effort into it

Very steep stairs to first floor and steep stairs to main bedroom not mentioned in property details although uneven floors are which is good.
The property should not be described as having 2 bathrooms as there is only one bathroom and a very small en-suite shower room. Very disappointing to find that the pub mentioned in the details is closed which was very inconvenient as weâd planned to eat there and having to do food shops took time out of our holiday. Having said all that the cottage was well equipped with quality white goods and oven and the bedding was spotless. The milk and bread which was provided for our arrival was most welcome and a lovely surprise to find. We didnât use the garden but it was exceptionally pretty and had lots of birds which was pleasing. I would like to suggest that a hairdryer would be a very useful item to offer. All in all a great little cottage in an extremely quiet area close to A303 and A30 and considering the cottage is terraced there was no noise nuisance from any of the other cottages.

The only bad thing about staying at The Hayloft is that you have to leave.
We have just had the most wonderful 9 nights staying in this beautiful place and it simply wasn't enough. We arrived to a very warm welcome from the hosts, Sara and Ozgur who were exceptionally helpful throughout our stay and so friendly. Huge scones with jam and cream were waiting for us in the kitchen along with fresh milk from the farm shop. We settled in immediately into the cottage which is absolutely stunning, furnished to a high standard and so comfortable and homely. The hot tub was an absolute joy with views to die for. I took books to read but actually didn't read any because i couldn't stop gazing at the countryside. Like I said at the start, the only disappointment was having to leave, but we have returned home feeling rejuvenated and so thankful that we found this place. We will definitely be going back.

What an absolutely lovely minibreak we had in Stockland at The Hayloft.
Sara and Ozgur could not have been more welcoming both before and at our arrival as well as during and even after our stay too. The homemade yummies and drinks were such a fabulous treat as were the eggs and milk from local farms. The Hayloft has been renovated to a high standard but in keeping with it's traditional style too. The hot tub was a particular hit of ours and our children (10&6) but the views...they were my absolute favourite bit. Peaceful tranquility looking out across the beautiful garden and beyond across the AONB - morning, noon and night. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your wonderful property, we have shared the word of this gem with friends and family and hope, ourselves, to return too. WE ALL LOVED IT
