What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Hope - Verified booking
A stunning cottage designed, built and decorated to the highest possible spec. Upon our arrival, we were met with a stunning vase of what seemed to be locally hand picked and arranged flowers and foliage. But the real treat was the freshly home baked chocolate brownies. I am told by my family that these were utterly delicious, but as I, myself, am gluten-free, I sadly could not sample these -- a wonderful gesture, nevertheless. Similarly, there was a hamper of goodies and essentials such as bread, Prossecco, fresh apple juice, eggs, crisps, teabags, coffee bags and so on. There was even a carton of fresh milk in the fridge. Such a lovely gesture which saves one from having to go out and buy essentials upon arrival. But the real treat was the aesthetics of the property -- the interior design was stunning! The building materials were of the highest spec, with chunky stone sills and floors, solid oak beams and revealed oak trusses, a galleried bedroom overlooking the lounge (but fully glazed to prevent noise disturbance for anyone sleeping in this bedroom. (The kids slept there and the heavy blackout curtains made sure they got a good night's sleep). The bathrooms were utterly stunning, with copper sinks and power showers and so on. The upstairs main bedroom also had a modern free-standing bath tub in it -- beautiful! The kitchen had every modern appliance; all the drawers were kitted with everything you could think of, including a hand whisk should one wish to bake. The laundry room had a washer and dryer, as well as iron and ironing board, and vacuum. Each bedroom had a hair dryer, multiple towels, two bath robes and night time eye masks. The original building had apparently been outbuildings to a farm, and one of the loveliest preserved features was the slit windows, preserved for aesthetic purposes rather than for practical purposes, these were a real feature. Some were highlighted with LED lights, and they all added that extra charm to the property. The cottage had two (front and back) private patios, so you have sun throughout the whole day. Similarly, there were two sets of patio doors, so plenty of light and air. The back patio comprised of a hot tub, outdoor dining chairs and table, comfi outdoor sofa, and a gas barbecue. We made full use of all of these -- the kids especially loved the jaccuzzi hot tub. The overall views were of lovely green fields, some with sheep and some were mowed grass where the kids were able to run around with a ball. We met a couple of members of the family who created these cottages and they were such lovely, friendly people. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the cottage and would definitely stay there again. Thank you!

This house is beautiful inside.
It's spacious, well presented and it was warm throughout our stay (November 2023) with hot water all day and night. There was everything we might have needed, even a stair gate for our little ones. There is a garage for one car but the on street parking isnt great. The road is extremely tight so if you are staying with multiple families like the house suggests (sleeps 12) then good luck finding a parking space (not the fault of the owners at all). We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at the Old Police House but there were a few things that we feel needs mentioning. Firstly, 1 shower for potentially 12 people is not enough. The little ones loved the small quirky bath, and it is tiny, but we thought it needed a shower over it to help cut the adult shower wait time down. Secondly, we had to wash all of the glasses and cutlery as a lot were dirty on arrival. It wasn't just dishwasher remnants, it was greasy finger prints and something sticky was on some of the glasses. Easily sorted but not something you expect. I had to throw one glass away as it was chipped in the cupboard. The cutlery drawer had fluff, hair and crumbs in it so we needed to wash that too. And lastly, the bed we slept in had bedding that smelled very fusty. All these things are easily fixable and were probably isolated to our stay. Thankfully we're all clean people who sorted the issues we could straight away. All in all, it's a gorgeous place, right in the middle of a little seaside resort so don't let these small problems put you off. We had the best time in the end.

Loved the hot tub and the space there was for the whole family. Lived the fact there were tvs in every room to give people the space they needed. Knives/forks set and plates and dishes there's plenty of them and really nice sets. Love the privacy blinds on the front of the house. Love the cute additions that was there for kids Love additions of cleaning products/other products that were left for us to use. Love the user guide ( think that's brilliant) Love the extra fridge freezer. Really handy for larger families ( just check both of them we found sometimes they didn't shut properly sometimes though was unsure if this was user error). It felt homely and was easy for us all to spread out so we wasn't under eachothers feet. Love the set up in the living room and dining room (real family time set up) Needs new pillows and deeper matress sheets as they kept coming off. Tv in living room looks like it's about to go as it has 2 highlighted balls in screen.(didn't not like but thought this should be highlighted to you) Update how the curtains are hung at the top on the rail (mainly livingroom) Update pans and Pyrex dishes. Maybe spruce up back garden. Weeding/paint decking/jet wash down. Clean or change rug in living room. Makesure cleaners do a deep clean for example pull beds away clean behind/underneath All in all we loved the property. Perfect family holiday home. Everything about it was easy, spacious etc

Wow! Well Cottage is a fantastic place to stay!
Helen and Lee are amazing hosts, nothing is too much trouble and the place is decorated throughout to the highest standard. Itâs full of mod cons, beautiful artwork and lots of extra little touches that weâve never had in places that weâve stayed before. From a huge comfy bed to a luxury copper bath, top-notch showers, modern central heating, a beautiful log fire, a big secluded hot tub and private garden with furniture and bbq, the list goes on! And not forgetting the kitchen aid toaster and kettle which we loved! It was just what we needed for a quiet relaxing week away and we didnât want to leave! We visited Hull, Beverley and Hornsea which were all close by and had a fabulous time. (Lilyâs Fish & Chips in Hornsea was the best weâve ever had!) We also had a couple of days just chilling at the cottage and in the hot tub as the place is so cosy, homely and roomy and the huge tvâs (all with Sky movies and sports) meant that we could relax in real comfort! The welcome pack was first class and the bottle of bubbly went down a treat on my birthday! So basically what I am saying is do not hesitate to book this hidden gem, we have recommended it to family and friends and weâll definitely be back. Congratulations Helen and Lee, you should be proud and hope to see you again soon, Jo & Vinny x

Size of it, the location and the hot tub was clean and prepared for when we arrived. Plenty of towels and pillows. Sofa is comfy. Quiet area and neighbours. As a parents I appreciated the little motion detection lights on the stairs. Signs of damp around the property, peeling wall paper in random spots, the locks and door handle on front door are very stiff and hurt my wrist trying to lock the door and the kettle is gross, so we bought one. Didnt get the key lock code till after I'd spent 20/30 minutes trying to get in touch with host and stay, however staff were lovely once I'd got through. I'd say the place just needs some touching up, a good deep clean, the stair hand rails were very sticky, garden needs some tlc and the house some more homely touches as it felt very bare, the top bedroom bed is horribly hard and nowhere up there to get ready, like a dressing table, little touches like more toilet roll ( 2 rolls for a 4 bed house with enough beds for 7 people over 4 days isn't close to enough) enough hand wash and things like a little bottle of milk, bread and salt and pepper would make you feel appreciated for booking. Just niggly little things but they make all the difference to your comfort and ease of stay.
