Hi, To say that you house is âwell maintainedâ is stretching the truth I feel.
Your house has the following issues: 1. An open fire but no gloves for the door handle that gets very hot â health and safety issue. 2. You advertise a BBQ â there is an old kettle style BBQ with broken legs that sits on the floor in the gravelled area of your garden - false advertising. 3. There was a previous guests or your own dogs poo bag (full) in the garden on the steps to the decked area â health and safety issue. 4. There is black mould growing on the wall / ceiling in the downstairs bathroom, see attached images â health and safety issue. 5. There is black mould growing on the blinds in the downstairs bathroom, see attached images â health and safety issue. 6. There is black mould growing on the shower head in the downstairs bathroom, see attached images â health and safety issue. 7. There is black mould growing on the blinds in the âfamily bedroomâ upstairs, see attached images â health and safety issue. 8. The pull out bed mattress is riddled with stains â cheap owners / poor management. 9. The double bed mattress is riddled with stains â cheap owners / poor management. 10. The washing machine drawer is full of black and orange mould, see attached images â health and safety issue. 11. The shower water hose in the family bathroom upstairs was covered in orange mould slime â cheap owners / poor management / health and safety issue. 12. The shower head in the family bathroom was covered in black mould, see attached images â health and safety issue. 13. The master bed was not made up (this is a repeat complaint from earlier in the year, are you so cheap that you only keep one set of bedding for this room?) on our arrival â cheap owners / poor management. 14. The windows in all of the upstairs rooms show signs of having blown / seals have gone allowing water and wind ingress â very cheap owners / poor management. 15. The double plug socket behind the door in the family bedroom is broken, this should not be in use yet it was available to use â health and safety issue, cheap owners / poor management. 16. Double plug socket in family bedroom covered by bedding and mattress with a lamp plug in it and turned on â cheap owners / poor management, health and safety issue. 17. Cleaners cupboard stank of damp â cheap owners / poor management, health and safety issue. 18. Broken chair in decked area â cheap owners / poor management. Your house has had most of these complaints before so I should not have been surprised! I guess some people never learn do they. I will be seeking a full refund from Sykes and Mastercard. No wonder your feedback email address has been cancelled!

I do not recommend Capel Bethania.
The property appears good at first glance but it was in reality it was in a completely unacceptable state. The property is filthy with black mould overgrowth, dead spiders, cobwebs, dirty tissues behind the beds, dirty kitchen drawers and utensils, grime in laundry area, very poor drainage in the shower. These are just a few of the issues. There were not spoons, forks or knives and we ended up having to drive at night to get these from the supermarket. We tried to call Sykes cottages but they were not available on the day of our arrival. The general information file at the property had an emergency number for another cottage company. We called thus company immediately after trying Sykes first. The other company answered our call and were very willing to help but since the property is not longer listed with them, Sykes was our only option for resolution. We eventually got through to Sykes the next day and they offered to send someone to attend the issue with the shower drainage. It was our last day, so their was really no point. The black mould has resulted in several members of family becoming poorly and having to visit the hospital. We tried get other accommodation but there was nothing available over the busy Christmas period. Sykes cottages has not been responding to our emails and we feel that the public should be warned not to trust their reviews. Please research other complaints of a similar nature against Sykes cottages to prevent your holiday from being ruined.

We had a lovely stay at the Orchard and would definitely return.
Contrary to older reviews, the house was really clean and comfortable. There's a lot of space around the whole house which is really well laid out. We were also fond of the very well equipped kitchen. The hot tub is a welcome addition to the house and we liked the fact that the owners give visitors full control over temperature, something which often doesn't happen at other hot tub equipped properties. It was also fresh water when we arrived showing care and attention from owners/keepers. The only possible critique I can offer on the property and Sykes service: - When we arrived, there was a lot of dog faeces in the garden. With young children, this is an unwelcome sight. This is not necessarily the responsibility of the cleaners but more of a sad indictment of many dog owners today. However it should be checked before new customers arrive (perhaps an additional deposit for dog owners which is not returned if cleaners have to pick up round the garden?) - The shower in the main en suite seemed to be faulty, it was either scalding hot or freezing cold and requires attention. Other showers worked fine if a little underpowered. - We appreciated being able to check with the house keeper if we could access the property early on check in day, however the 0930 departure time is a little early compared to anywhere else we have stayed. Trying to get the whole family ready, out and house tidy by that time is not impossible but more difficult.

I filled in an on line form as soon as I arrived.
I also rang the owner. The description on your website is incorrect. If it had been a correct description of the layout I would not have booked it. It says on the ground floor thereâs a downstairs bedroom leading to the living room which leads to the kitchen, and thereâs three bedrooms on the first floor. So I booked it because Iâm disabled and use a wheelchair so everything was on the ground floor for me. But it wasnât. The kitchen was upstairs so totally ruined Christmas for us as I only went upstairs when two people carried me which was unsafe. One of the elderly couples decided they couldnât come when I told them about the layout of the property because they originally assumed theyâd only have to go upstairs at bedtime. So the cost had to be divided between two parties instead of three, which we wouldnât have paid if weâd known about it. Your website also states fuel provided so we didnât take wood, it wasnât provided so Christmas Eve had to go looking for wood. Contacted the owner who said he would have to contact Sykes about fuel being provided. Also said to him, as itâs Christmas we thought thereâd be a Christmas tree up, his reply was I live in Chester, Iâm useless (referring to himself). There wasnât even a piece of tinsel. The downstairs wet room leaked onto the bedroom floor, and we couldnât turn the heating off so had to go round turning radiators on and off.

Capel bethania where to start.
We were unable to travel on the first day of our holiday due to the really bad weather so was a day late.on arrival the property was freezing cold no heating on . Above the bifold doors in the main living area was a large gap ,water was constant dripping through causing large puddles on the floor also the draughts coming through was quite bad,no curtains or blinds.The main bedroom was pretty much the same.The beds were cold and felt damp.The heating did come on while we were trying to ring Sykes we looked around and some radiators were turned off.The utility room was a disgrace .hoovers ,mop buckets bags ,boxed etc just thrown into a heap in a corner.waited nearly 4hrs for Sykes to come and sort it out.we sat there all the time with our coats on the heating didnât seem to be having any effect.As we are both elderly we decided there was no way we could stay there it was too cold and we couldnât use the beds so we left and came home.apparently the engineer did call into the property and fixed the problems(really).we never got a call asking where we where.so Sykes say no compensation.we wish we had never seen the place this has been the worst property we have ever stayed in (or not)
