What our customers say about their holidays

We loved staying at Grove Cottage!
It was comfortably furnished with a lovely mix of old and new and very well-equipped. On arrival we found a wonderful welcome hamper, plus milk in the fridge, coffee and tea, and a gorgeous homemade victoria sponge. There were also supplies of toilet rolls, handwash, clingfilm and foil, plus cleaning products. The upstairs is quite dinky, just the two bedrooms, the double a good size, the twin fairly compact, but downstairs has been very imaginatively extended to make a very spacious living space. One point that is not mentioned in the details is that, no doubt as a result of extending an old cottage, there are a lot of changes of floor level downstairs, some actual steps, but some just enough to make a trip hazard until you're used to them. Other than that, the cottage is delightful! There was no shortage of hot water and the heating was easy to control (despite it being June, the weather was so chilly we used it selectively morning and evening). The pretty garden, beautifully maintained, was lovely to sit in when we did get some sun and my husband really enjoyed the hot tub. One final positive in our eyes was that all the windows had blinds or, in the case of the large window in the lounge/diner, thick curtains. On a chilly night, it was nice to be able to close off the encroaching darkness, even though the cottage was secluded, but too many holiday cottages seem to think it unnecessary.

Wow what a brilliant retreat.
Repeat visit required for sure! Grove cottage is a beautiful game keepers cottage, just off the beaten track pretty much secluded, in the grounds of a golf course beautiful decor and amenities. Comfortable, clean and it says come back for more. The hamper was the best we've ever had with any break we've had through Sykes, cake, eggs, bread, snacks etc etc even milk.to enjoy a coffee once we arrived and seeming it was our wedding anniversary break Zena and Roger had left us an extra celebratory gift in the fridge to enjoy toasting in the hot tub later. Thank you :-) We enjoyed our time visited the Hickory stick restaurant for the Wednesday Steak and bowl which we couldn't fault with friends who visited for the day but they also do food through out the day starting with breakfast til 6pm. Recommended to friends already and they will be booking up too. Things we did while there, was a trip to the Newcourt cider just down the road, The Bush Inn for a very different afternoon tea, Monkland cheese dairy, local cosy pub in Leominster the White lion and Coffee, cake and more at St Michael's hospice coffee and books. Sure there's lots more to explore yet that we didn't get to do. We did plan to go to Queenswood park/arboretum and a few walks and a visit to the local deli in town but that'll be on the list next time. As you can see a most enjoyable stay.

This is the first time we had stayed in a shepards hut, and wow we was blown away!
The pictures do not do it justice, it is much better, such beauty surrounds it with the most amazing views, the bed is the best we have had whilst on holidays the sheets pillows and duvet divine, water pressure is fantastic, i still can't believe you can have everything you need in a shepards hut and space, the wood firerd hot tub was excellent so much better than an electric one as it retains the heat , you get a starter pack for the hot tub which was more than enough for our 5 night stay, and we used it everyday alot! The dressing gowns that were supplied for our stay were so super soft i didn't want to take it off, we also were left a gift when we arrived that was such a lovely thing to do , but i won't tell you what it was , so you can book this place and find out! Pete and Sarah the owners are fantastic very friendly and welcoming and pete took us on a tour of the massive farm in his 4x4 right up the hills, we felt like we were in the clouds the views were amazing, so much to do in the area like the waterfalls and the fab pub the royal oak with affordable mouth watering food and owestry was amazing, we can't wait to go back

We had a wonderful four nights and days at Moorhen Retreat.
We met Peter in-person and had text contact with Sarah - both were really friendly and helpful. The accommodation was well thought out, clean, comfortable and well-equipped and maintained. The hob took a little working-out, though we sorted it. We slept really well, apart when being dive-bombed by a couple of flies (it is a working livestock farm so some flies can be expected). We used the barbeque every day, and the hot tub most days or nights (if you wanted to skinny-dip, the hot tub can be seen from the top floor of the farm house). It is a beautiful and quiet secluded spot, great for nature lovers. There are towns and villages within easy reach, though we did not eat out at any local pubs so I cannot comment on those. Overall, we had a really enjoyable time, away from the hustle and bustle of our usual lives, and would definitely consider staying again. Maybe next time we will try out the new Heron Pod. Thank you Peter and Sarah for a lovely stay.

We spent 2 nights (Friday and Saturday) at the moorhen retreat celebrating being together 10 years.
Communication before we arrived was key and stress free, we was greeted upon arrival and any questions were asked and we were shown how to use the hot tub which was already heated up for us and ready to dive in. we were told about nice walks in the area and nice places to eat. The place itself was beautiful, great location, clean and tidy and they really had thought about everything. The bed was really comfy, shower was good, we used the gas bbq which worked a treat. The hot tub was good, only negative bit about it was with it being a wood fired hot tub it doesnât give off the jacuzzi effect with bubbles etc but we knew this anyway. Again good location, nice and quiet, the sound of wildlife was really nice, again only negative was there was a lot of flys in the trailer but had plenty of ways to stop this. Overall we really enjoyed a child free weekend and I would certainly recommend to anyone. Thank you
