What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Huckle - Verified booking
A lovely old cottage, perfect for walkers. Close to footpaths to Swanage and Durlston, an excellent local shop, Indian restaurant and a fish & chip shop. Bus stop only 5 mins walk away. The cottage has a tiny courtyard garden which is pleasant to sit in, although is shady for much of the day. Definitely not for less mobile people - the steep, narrow, curving staircase is a challenge. Beware the low beam at the entrance of the stairs - it caught me out twice! The lounge is very dark - lights needed switching on during daylight hours. I imagine it would be cosy in the winter - the logburner would soon warm the place up. The main bedroom is large and light. Comfortable bed and plenty of storage. The single bedroom is cosy. The bathroom has a bath with handheld shower - this is fine however there is no shower curtain so we found it easier to sit in the bath to hair wash. It's a good 20-25 mins walk into the town and the beach - a little longer on the return as there are some uphill slopes. Overall, it is an ideal and comfortable place to stay, especially for people who enjoy walking.

Compact little cottage on the outskirts of Swanage. More than adequate for a short break although possibly more suited to a couple than for three. Good bed , nice linen and towels and a modern bathroom. We didn’t cook at all but appeared to be everything you would need to do so. There are some lovely local cafes and restaurants so we enjoyed trying them out ! Not the easiest of places to pull up to unload on arrival but after that we managed to park each day just a little way down the road where there are parking spaces off the road. Access to the little garden is up a few steep steps so be mindful if you intend to use the garden or need to let a dog out. We did have a nice time - but be aware it’s too far to walk to the beach really and we had to use our car which adds to the parking fees.

We had a very comfortable stay at Hillview and would definitely consider returning.
It's a superb location close to the sea front and town, and even closer to walk down to the beach for a dip in the sea at the end of a day out. We loved the bright spacious living room - which meant when the weather was unseasonably wet, it was a nice bright room to sit in and relax. The children loved the view of the downs from their bedroom window, and the main bedroom felt spacious. We had everything we needed in the property, except perhaps a larger airer for wet clothes. (We found the over-bath airer a bit small and couldn't locate a larger one in the property). All in all, a lovely comfortable property with easy allocated parking space and we had everything we needed for our two-week stay. (We enjoyed consuming the lovely goodies in the welcoming basket, thank you)

The property was as described in the listing.
It is a very short walk to the beach and the town. The owner is very approachable and helpful. The decor has a deliberate period feel. Which might not be to everybodyâs taste. But the amenities make up for it. The heating worked great. As did all the appliances we used. The Wi-Fi did blip on Netflix from time to time. The cleanliness of the rooms was good. Unfortunately the shower still had some sand left from the previous occupant. Our stay was whilst Storm Eunice happened and we were comfortable and found it easy to live in. If you have a dog or children there is a park 5 minutes walk which is by the cricket club. As the streets are all pavement and no grass. The property allows you both the luxuary of leaving the car or using it as a base to go further a field.

This could be a lovely cottage to stay in but we had a few problems. Surprised to find there was no Microwave which was definitely needed as the pans were so huge ie scrambled egg impossible to make! Fridge / Freezer listed which in fact was a freezer within the fridge, which was totally frozen up so it could not be used. The grass was about a foot high so had to ring for a gardener to sort out, despite the previous people also saying they call for a gardener. Nowhere to put my clothes in the single room so had underwear on the floor and shirts etc in the main room with Mum. Plumber had to be called to fix the shower - never did work out how to fill the bath except from the shower !
