What our customers say about their holidays

The apartment, which we have stayed in many times, was lovely.
However, there were some snagging issues. There is a problem with the fridge door which falls open if the shelves on the inside of it are filled with bottles of milk etc. This is a long-standing problem that has been going on for a few years and which I have reported previously. I spoke to Nick, a maintenance man who came to carry out a repair, and he said he would report back to the owner on this as something needing doing. The telephone handset is faulty so you can hear calls come in but cannot âanswerâ the phone to speak to the person on the other end. This is important if you have given the number as a contact number for family, friends, food deliveries etc. Be careful of the ironing board hanging on the back door of the cupboard with the washing machine in, the screws are loose and need to be refixed/could fall off. The digital weighing scales need a new battery/are unreliable. We had a maintenance problem on arrival and called the number for the maintenance man given in the information folder but had no response until we emailed Coastal Living about another problem a few days later. Both were then resolved quickly but I am not sure that the number given for the maintenance man in the information folder is right and may need to be updated. We rented numbers 17 and 19 this week and found number 19 to be much better equipped and more comfortable, with a much nicer welcome pack and very easy communications. It had lovely seaside bits and pieces, a seagull on a stick, a lighthouse and that sort of thing that gave it a lovely seaside vibe. All those seaside bits and pieces had been removed from number 17 (it used to have them) which is a bit of a shame, as they all add to the holiday feel of the place. There has been a refurbishment of number 17 in the last year. Some have commented that the beds are uncomfortable. I was concerned about this as my elderly dad was coming with us. As the owner said, people have different perceptions when it comes to based comfort. My dadâs assessment was, for those who look for comfort, the bed was adequate although certainly not as comfortable as the beds there previously. This goes for all the beds throughout the flat. There is nice new balcony furniture. As ever, the view is amazing and it is a lovely relaxing place to be. It is nice that, after a number of years of restrictions, the swimming pool and gym are backed to ordinary operating arrangements and that the changing rooms are open. It is a lovely apartment to watch the tides coming in and out. Its view is one of the best from the Burgh Island Apartments. But if you do not mind a lovely but a slightly more restricted view and are looking for more comfort etc. then it is worth considering number 19 which is also a lot cheaper.

After many fantastic holidays in Sykes Cottages, I am disappointed to be submitting a negative review.
However, I feel itâs important to state the facts so other families in our situation are not left disappointed. We booked this holiday after searching through the Sykes filter for properties will pools. My sons love swimming, so the heated pool was a major factor alongside the wonderful countryside and beaches of North Wales. Unfortunately, on the evening of arrival we discovered the advertised âheatedâ outdoor pool was freezing cold and unfit to swim in for more than few minutes. We reported this to the park reception and was informed that the broken piping was on order, and they would fix it over the next few days. It was fixed on the day that we left. On reporting this to Sykes, we were informed that the parts were on order and 20 degrees was plenty warm enough to swim in. My shivering 7 and 9 year boys confirmed that it was not. When I tried to resolve this with Skyes I was reprimanded for charging my electric car at the lodge and informed it was a fire hazard. No where in the site rules or Skyes description was it made clear that electric cars cannot be charged on site. They even had a charge point behind reception. Access to the charge point was not offered as an alternative. We paid 3 times the normal fee to book this property in the school holidays. I would expect all the facilities to be available and in good working order. Correspondence from Sykes stated: We do appreciate the inconvenience you faced when you found the swimming pool to be unavailable. The owner made it possible for you to use a hot tub as an alternative. The access to a hot tub, for one evening, does not compensate for a weekâs missed swimming. Really disappointed.

An outstanding property in an idyllic location with spectacular views.
We were lucky enough to be the first ever guests at this exceptional property and we cannot thank John and Penny enough for their friendly, warm welcome. This spacious home from home is spotless and tastefully decorated to a very high standard; thereâs everything you need for a cosy, restful, relaxing stay. The huge kitchen is extremely well equipped and arriving late at night we particularly appreciated the welcome pack provided. The bedrooms were very comfortable and well furnished, and the blackout blinds meant we slept soundly. The house is set in a beautiful garden with breath-taking views and is ideally placed for walking and whiling away the hours enjoying a tasty lunch or drink in one of the local cafes and pubs. Our mornings were spent lazing in the conservatory, which is the perfect spot for bird watching. We were lucky enough to spot a woodpecker and were entertained by the antics of the pheasants, chickens and cats. Afternoons were spent exploring some of the many walks in the area. We enjoyed taking in the scenic meandering river routes to Grassington and Appletreewick followed by a well deserved drink in one of the local pubs. And after all that fresh air we returned in the evenings to the warmth of a log fire in the lounge which had a great range of DVDs, books and games to keep us entertained. We have had the most relaxing holiday and look forward to returning. John and Penny have put a lot of love, care and thought into making Kail House the perfect retreat. We would highly recommend this exceptional property.

This is a great location for a beautiful beach.
The view is spectacular. The flat is mostly OK-it is in need of some tlc-especially for the price. Here is the list of what needs attention; â¢The dishwasher isnât working properly â¢The toilet roll holders are hanging off. â¢The side of the bath in the bigger bathroom needs fixing,as does the plug in the sink and the toilet flush. â¢The pilllows on the beds are very very flat and uncomfortable and there was no spare bedding or pillows available. The mattresses werenât great either. â¢The washer/dryer is very hard to use as itâs crammed into a cupboard with cleaning beach stuff in front. â¢The flat was mostly clean on arrival but as the dishwasher isnât working properly lots of dishes had been but away with stuck on dirt on. â¢We lost something under the sofa and had to move it-it was clear it hadnât been cleaned under for a while. Also lots of cobwebs in the corners. â¢Communal bins in the car park were always over flowing. â¢Last point which isnât to do with the actual accommodation but the âclubâ with the swimming pool and cafe that is attached to the flats is very unwelcoming, mostly due to the very rude older gentleman that seems to be in charge-he was very aggressive.

We were very happy upon arrival to the Barn.
Lovely big bedrooms with every adult having their own en-suite facilities. The views and landscape are breathtaking. We had use of the hot tub which was one of the other main features why we booked. We had a few issues with appliances and left feedback. (Showers, Wi-Fi) The tv could be updated. Our only bug bear was the families adjoining. Their property linked our property via one door to a communal games room. They had young children we could hear the noise constantly coming from the play area. I had to ask them politely to keep the noise down (at night time) as there is a bedroom next to it and we had a 3 year old. I had reminded them the next day as there is a was music blaring from the space and adults making just as much noise as the children. They said they had book this holiday home for the games room. I think they thought the games room was theirs alone and treated it like that. We didnât use it, not that we had chance too. Their adjoining door to the games room was alway open as an extension to their living quarters. We all enjoyed our time at the Barn. Just what we all need to kick back, chill and we did a bit of exploring. Thank you
