What our customers say about their holidays

Wifi, although advertised as available, was non secured and would not connect anyway.
Not really a problem for us, but might be for others who may need it. There is a very noisy main road just below the property, the noise from which is quite invasive by day when outside or if windows are open. However it dissipates at night. Having said that, the woodland location and seclusion is perfect for those who enjoy walking and wildlife (we saw deer rutting, a fox, rabbits, birds of prey and squirrels from the house, and were serenaded by an owl (Little Owl?) most nights. There are numerous walks from the door, or further afield. The cottage itself is very warm and cosy, with plenty of wood for the fire/woodburer and piping hot water. We were only contacted twice by the caretaker, once to make sure we had arrived and were happy, and once just before we left to give us leaving details. Other than that we were left to our own devices. Just as we like. There were not reams of rules and regulations as is sometime the case at holiday cottages, so we instantly felt at home. Just one or two niggles : the upstairs loo takes an age to refill and the upstair shower head is "lazy" and wont stay upright. Perhaps a mirror over the basin would be better for those who wet shave. As a cottage in which to recharge the batteries it is perfect and had the desired effect.

A lovely cottage and an enjoyable week end but on arriving it was dark and poring with rain.
Finding where to park was quite a problem, as although it said parking for the cottages I was immediately accosted by a gentleman to say this is not where you park and proceeded to tell me where to go, by this time we were both very wet. In daylight it was still not at all obvious where one should park if staying at the Old Stables, there was a minute sign 'parking' but even that was difficult to see unless you were actually parked by it !!! Larger signs saying "Parking for Old Stables Cottages" might be an idea. The 'starter pack' of logs was very mean ! and although we could purchase in the village it would have been a better idea to have more packs of logs that we could purchase at the cottage. The last small moan ! is about the dish washer tablets, we were staying at the cottage for two nights and there were TWO tablets, which in theory is all well and good, but it does limit one for the use of the machine. I am sure that if one is paying £600 for a two night stay, one would not be the sort of person to filch a pack of washing tablets !! Other than those few things a pleasant and comfortable stay.

Barn Cottage is superb. It is very spacious, extremely comfortable and quite possibly the best equipped holiday home we have ever stayed in. The outdoor space is perfect for those of us who have a dog. Such a great idea to have a patio rather than grass. The welcome pack was much appreciated. .... Barn Cottage is superb. Such a great idea to have a patio rather than grass. The welcome pack was much appreciated. The location was another huge plus. It is very close to the town and the beach but also for hikers like us, North Hill is accessible on foot. My daughter and I were to hike up to North Hill with our dog, follow the South-West Coast Path then descend to Bratton before following the Bratton stream to the cottage. Bobbie, our German Shepherd/Belgian Malanois rescue was able to be off lead for well over two of the three hour route. We will almost certainly book it again in the future.
