What our customers say about their holidays

A beautiful lodge perfectly located at the end of the street, very peaceful.
Unfortunately no views of the lake some of the pictures portray due to additional lodges and trees in the way. However this lodge is not on ground floor so does give some sense of privacy and better views. The kitchen was well equipped and heating was available to use should you need it. Unfortunately the kitchen handles were sticky and therefore needed a wipe down but overall very clean place. You get access to one car parking space right outside your lodge but take note you do have 20 steps to climb (as stated in the description as advertised) The bathrooms unfortunately had a horrible smell coming from the drains, was quite unbearable and we had no way of directly contacting management to get this fixed immediately. The mattresses & pillows in the bedroom are non existent, you just sink into it. The mattresses are well overdue a replacement. We did not sleep well at all. There is little to no wifi so i wouldnt come with the expectation of having access to the wifi. EE network worked quite well O2 was hit and miss. You only get one toilet roll for the stay per bathroom so make sure you bring your own or alternatively you can buy locally. Its a shame there were no recycling facilities for your rubbish, this should be a must for all lodges/accommodation in this day and age. Overall we had a pleasant stay its just unfortunate the bathroom and bedroom mattresses let us down.

We stayed at 8 Woodlands.
There was space for one car towards the front of the lodge due to leaving space for the lodge to the back of 8 Woodlands. Enough space though so all was ok. The lodge had everything in terms of cutlery, plates, pans, trays and bin bags. Was a very nice touch to have some coffee, tea and milk sachets on arrival along with washing up liquid, tea towel and toilet roll. Plenty of towels were provided for our weeks stay. We were impressed with the lodge itself and the grounds. Close to the lake for a morning stroll with the dog which was just over the main road at the bottom. Everything else was a driveable distance, 15 mins to Coniston, 30 mins to Bowness or Ambleside. The only downfall was the main bed. One side dipped making it uncomfortable to the point of feeling you were to fall out of bed when turning over. Wasn't great for the back really however I survived and made do. All in all loved our holiday and would stay again but a different lodge due to the bed

The lodge was larger than it looked in images i.
E. patio doors both out from living area and dining area to decking, Whole lodge was very clean and tidy. Location wise the site was perfectly situated for travelling around the area. Only a ten minute walk up to the visitor centre where we did the high tree top ropes, and you could hire kayaks etc for on the water. Only 15 mins in car to central Windermere and same other direction for Ambleside. We ended up just using the bus to get around as parking was very busy at all the car parks. With bus stops just outside the holiday park this was ideal, however the cost of the buses was expensive. Only discovered on last day that you could buy a weekly ticket that would have saved us money. We couldn't fault the lodge or site. Was not too busy and even strolling up to the club on site was nice. Or in the evening walking down to the water front of the park to sit was very relaxing. Would definitely book again and recommend.

A fantastic lodge with everything that a family of 5 needs.
Having a dishwasher and a washer dryer is also a big plus! The lodge was extremely comfortable and spacious, well equipped and tastefully decorated. Excellent setting, high up and at the end of a row, which was very quiet and had a lovely view over the park. There were plenty of activities for the boys to do; we experienced swimming, water walkers, pool parties and the 2 play areas. It was a shame that the Outdoor n Explore Activities were not being run this week as we enjoyed them last year. We enjoyed Bingo Beats in the Boathouse during the evening too. All the staff were friendly and happy to help. Close enough to walk to Brockhole where there is also plenty to do and you can catch a boat there to take you to other places on Lake Windermere; we visited Wray Castle. This is the second time we have visited White Cross Bay and we have already booked to come back again next year.

Great, roomy lodge, with excellent facilities and in a really good location for the site but let down a little by the housekeeping.
As with all Sykes cottages, I get the impression the housekeeping team are not given enough time to do their job properly. In this case, everything had been shoved in cupboards rather than put away neatly (saucepans and frying pans literally thrown in a pile), duvet covers were not buttoned and one was stained. Overall, cleaning was superficial (eg very dirty behind toilet seat hinges). Also, there were lots of knives, but mainly bread knives and not one sharp knife suitable for chopping vegetables. Note for future guest - there is a filter coffee machine, but you may need filters. The cafetiere doesn't work! Finally, there was a new, large Smart TV, but the wifi didn't work all week - this seems to be a problem that has been going on for years with no solution! It is not acceptable to have to use your own phone data when it is advertised as having wifi.
