What our customers say about their holidays
Kate - Verified booking
Iâve been renting holiday cottages in North Devon for the last decade, and this property sits firmly in my top three!
The location is just perfect, only a couple of minutes to the (dog-friendly) beach and the town centre. Combe Martin itself is a great base location generally, but the proximity to the beach really makes this property stand out. The house had everything we needed to ensure a comfortable stay. The stairs are a little difficult to navigate (as someone with mobility problems) but this was made clear within the listing. The cream tea on arrival was really welcomed - some milk would have been nice so we could have brewed up on arrival. The addition of a dressing table would be great as I found it difficult to dry my hair, having to move one of the bedside tables to be able to sit on the floor near an outlet and mirror. The lack of an enclosed area for the dog was the only draw back we could find; Newberry Beach is just across the road and is dog friendly all year round so this was exceptionally convenient for us, though having to get shoes on, leash up the dog, and then walk him up and down the street outside for his final toilet break before bed was a little frustrating, it would be nice to just be able to open the door and let him outside as we do at home. We did also find ourselves having to pick up a fair amount of cat faeces from the front gravelled area, though thereâs really very little that could be done to prevent this itâs maybe something the owner should be aware of as we did worry that it would be assumed that any we didnât manage to get would be attributed to our dog. Iâm unable to really pass comment on the cooking facilities as we ate out every evening, but at a glance it appeared as though everything needed to prepare meals was available. We had a fantastic week and this property and itâs location really contributed to that. Despite the slight niggle with the lack of enclosed outdoor space, weâre already looking at booking again for next year - and we have never re-booked a holiday let before! Thank you so much.

A superb and beautiful spot for a romantic week away.
Loved the well appointed, clean and generally excellent log cabin feel of the accommodation (plus welcoming gifts). Having the free bait balls for the feeder on site was a nice touch - spent many an evening relaxing as the sun went down, wine in hand watching the birds stuff themselves. Only downside was the lack of curtains / blinds / shutters over the gable window in the bedroom which meant the sun woke us up far too early in the morning for a holiday. Fortunately we happened to have some airline style sleep masks which stopped it becoming too much of an issue but I recommend mentioning people might wish to bring said masks with them in the listings to avoid this issue. Also, although completely understandable given its location, the listing didn't really convey just how limited the wi-fi was and as such it would be worth advising people that they need to download any media they want to watch / listen to before arriving as streaming any form of entertainment is a no-no. The lack of mobile phone signal (again understandable due to its location) is also something potential guest should be aware of. Finally in view of the narrow and steep roads reassurance that supermarket deliveries can still be made to the property would be a useful inclusion to the listing.

The kitchen was poorly equipped.
No serving spoons. cutlery thrown in the drawer. The cups has stain spots and we could not remove them. Also when water was tipped down the sink, it glugged for a while and then there was a slight odour of bad eggs. Think it needs some drain clear. I doubt the owner is aware of this. We had to have help sorting our the underfloor heating. One switch was in a cupboard that had no handle. We thought there was a shower not just the jacuzzi. Our fault we know. Never assume!! But it was difficult to crouch down in the jacuzzi to have a shower, using the hose which had a temporary repair. The photo, showed a private courtyard, but from the Coach house you looked out onto other parked cars and the side road and when you were sitting inside you felt you were in a goldfish bowl as everyone could see right into the room. My last comment is a personal one, but the bedding had been washed in very strong smelling detergent - fabric conditioner and it was so over powering it made us sneeze. Fortunately there were spare pillow cases, so we covered 2 cushions and used these instead. The smell was very strong. This is the first time I have ever written an adverse comment, but feel I should.

We loved our stay at this apartment, Gillian made us feel very welcome and at home.
If you like period features, huge sash windows, spectacular sea views, comfortable furnishings and quirky vintage decor, this is the place for you! There is a private path direct from the house that zig-zags down through the steep hillside garden, giving a three minute walk direct to Lynmouth harbour front and a great pub. Another walk, up a tarmac public path to Lynton, is possibly the steepest I've ever walked up, but give it a steady 10 minutes and you soon get to the shops and other pubs there. Don't be put off by the electricity meter, we only used about £7 in a week (including the £5 already in when we arrived) and we cooked most nights, although I imagine that heating in colder months would use quite a bit more. The apartment has its own private access as well as the shared access through the reception area. There's also a terraced seating area just outside the windows to sit out on warmer days. A great value stay.

It was drizzly and blustery for much of the weekend, not unexpected for February, but my husband and I had a wonderful stay.
Treetops is lovely, comfortable, cosy and clean. The place is very relaxing and we really enjoyed watching the birds on the bird feeder; there were blue tits, great tits, robins and a great spotted woodpecker, amongst others. There was even a buzzard that regularly perched on a tree nearby. The location is fantastic with walks straight from the door. We walked East through Valley of Rocks to Lynmouth and Lynton and had an excellent lunch at The Rising Sun. Walking West took us to Heddon Valley where we passed a lovely waterfall on the way and had another lovely lunch at The Hunter's Inn. The weather made the coastal walks even more dramatic and the scenery was gorgeous. Jim, the property owner, is very warm and friendly. We will be back! The Wrights
