What our customers say about their holidays
Deborah - Verified booking
Although the apartment looked nice, we were extremely disappointed in some aspects.
First upon entering, it was freezing as no heating was on, it took most of the evening to get to a decent temperature. While unpacking we found a dirty towel stuffed in a bedside draw, and had to wash most kitchen items before use. The extractor fan didnât work efficiently so cooking was extremely difficult as the kitchen would fill with either steam or smoking and we risked setting the fire alarm off. The biggest disappointment was noise. The windows despite being double glazed provided no protection from sound at all. While trying to watch tv, the sound of traffic drowned out the volume and made it impossible, if being considerate to our neighbours to watch anything. The amount of traffic going through the town at night was enormous. Consequently sleep was broken every night with the sound of deliveries being drag around on trollies, Lorrieâs bumping along the bad roads, conversations of people walking in the street etc. it was an absolute nightmare. I would not stay in this cottage again!

A charming and comfortable cottage in a stunningly beautiful and very peaceful location on a steep hill farm. Perfect for three (as in our case) or four adults. Rooms are very well appointed, and the beds are extremely comfortable! A few minor remarks: the state of cleaning on arrival left something to be desired (cobwebs everywhere, food debris and broken glass in dishwasher filter, hairs in shower drains) - from this and the visitor book, it looked as if we were the first guests for a while and it hadn't been cleaned on the day of our arrival. There were only just enough glasses and cutlery, so we had to wash up/run the dishwasher frequently (only 5 teaspoons!). Finally the photos may give the impression that shower gel is provided, but it isn't so remember to bring your own. But apart from that, this is a lovely property and very well situated to explore the southern half of the Peak District National Park. We had an excellent week here.

The apartment is very nice and well decorated, and has a great central location to explore Ashbourne and the surrounding areas.
Unfortunately this also has a major drawback as the noise from the busy road outside is horrendous. We could hear every motorbike and car go pass, and then with some of the larger lorries that go pass very regularly, the noise reverberates and you can literally feel it! There are further issues with the noise and especially late night deliveries to the local businesses, we do understand the requirements and logistics of this with it being a busy one way system but the deliveries between 2-3am were hard to take. We ended up investing in ear plugs from the local boots store to try and get a decent night's sleep. It is a shame that this is the case, as the apartment is lovely, and decorated well as mentioned We also loved Ashbourne and would love to visit again but it would not be at this property.

Can only echo other reviews.
The apartment was well laid out and equipped (In fact they undersold it slightly by omitting to mention there was a washing machine). However, the stay was spoilt by the incredible amount of noise from the road below. It seemed like everything and anything went past the window as it was the main route through the town. The double glazing was ineffective due to the windows being âsashâ (probably due to planning issues) but we could only wonder why greater attempts werenât made to remedy this with some form of secondary glazing / sound insulation as part of the refurbishment programme. We resorted to ear plugs to ease things slightly and managed to enjoy the stay in spite of the issue but could not, in all honesty, recommend the property over others due to the noise issues.

Lovely stay.
It was very hot while we were there so had breakfast on the patio of ice-cream cafe just round the back of the apartment facing the lovely view of the countryside. The owners were very kind and offered a voucher for a free ice-cream of our choice all handmade. Fantastic. It is a working farm and we found out how many long hours and hard work goes into the upkeep of there business. We found it very interesting. A great place for families to visit for the morning or afternoon as they have a nature trail around the farm with the opportunity to look at goats, sheep, chickens, at close quarters. They have also a pottery workshop where you can book to paint a pot. We will return, as there are several more walks around the area where we would like to go. Thank you for a great few days.
