What our customers say about their holidays

There is potential for a 5 star rating but a couple of niggles for us on our stay.
We messaged the mobile number on our arrival to ask about fuel for the fire and had a response on Tuesday ( good job it wasn't a major incident) I called and left a message for the owner on the Saturday, who did come back within a couple of hours and was extremely helpful. The main settee cushions slide when you sit on them so constantly need readjusted. During the first readjustment we found a partial packet of cigarettes down the side of the cushions. As non smokers we put them in the bin by the fire. We had 2 - 3 inches if snow on the Tuesday night and couldn't get our car into the site due to the steep slopes. There's grit and salt around the site but too far apart it was a hard slog trying to clear the hill from the supplies at the bottom of the hill, so unless you have a 4 x4 this might not be the place to visit in winter! Had to leave the car at the adventure centre car park. Tip here; if you have to leave your car there, email them as they are very friendly, helpful and will keep an eye out on their cctv! Heating is good, however as the stat is in the hall and not in the main lounge, this gets warm quickly shuts down heating for the rest of the lodge which can be uncomfortable: Since they don't want you to adjust this, I found that turning down the trv valve (<3) on the radiator in the hall and turning up those in the main lodge (4) gave a comfortable heat. A final gripe: there was no heating on the last morning (normally on 7 -10) and temperatures down to 14 degrees on the thermostat reading and for some reason the "boost" didn't help. Where I understand that property is vacated at 10:00 and doors will be opened as we take everything out, it would be better to have this on "say till 8:30" so we are a bit more comfortable with our breakfast, coffee in the morning and getting out of the shower. Overall it's a great lodge, lots of space and if we were to return for another break in the area, this would be on our list to return.

We are a family of 5 (children aged 8,11,14) and stayed at 2 Strathtay lodges in February half term.
This was one of the best places we have ever stayed. The lodge was spotlessly clean, well equipped, warm, and comfortable. Even down to little plug in night lights which came on automatically at night (perfect for our 8 year old). We cooked at the lodge rather than eating out, the kitchen was better equipped than our one at home. Everything had been thought of. We could have quite happily lived here forever. If internet is important to you, itâs worth noting this can be a bit sporadic. This wasnât an issue for us. The view from the lodge more than compensated! I took so many photos, itâs a shame you canât put them in a review! In terms of location, we found Aberfeldy well placed if you donât mind a drive. The main roads up to the north are easy to drive on, and we drove up to The Cairngorms and Aviemore, Dalwhinnie distillery (highly recommended!) The town itself has a small Co op and Asda petrol station - we had a run to Perth which was about 45 mins for a big supermarket shop. There is an excellent bike hire shop at the bottom of the road to the lodge, which my bike mad 14 year old was more than happy with, and MTB routes up from Aberfeldy are excellent. Biking is a great way to explore. There is also a place to book rafting, wrong time of year for us, but we would have definitely done this if we had visited later in the year. Walking routes are brilliant, we had a lovely afternoon walking round the Birks of Aberfeldy, and down by the river. It is worth seeking out local knowledge for locations. For an active family this is an absolute five star holiday. The lodge is perfect to come back to after a day of adventure. We would stay here again without hesitation. Highly recommended!

We were a party of 5 ladies staying for a weekend in January 2025.
The lodge exceeded out expectations. It was warm, welcoming, comfy, and modern. The hot tub was piping hot and the views were outstanding. Aberfeldy is a 2 minute drive, however we walked there and back for dinner and drinks and it took around 15 minutes. There aren't any streetlights after you leave the town but we used the torches on our phones are were fine. The lodge itself is really well equipped and it had everything you'd expect. We didn't need to bring kitchen roll, food wrap, salt, pepper, tea or coffee, it was all there, including ice in the freezer. Lovely little touches were the shortie biscuits and prosecco in the fridge. We travelled during Storm Elowyn and although the road up is very steep, we managed it no problem, you just need to take your time. Not sure how I'd fancy it in the snow however. Overall we absolutely loved our stay and would come back in a heartbeat.

For a over £700 4 day get away you would expect a clean and fresh hot tub upon arrival.
Unfortunately that wasn't our case and we couldnt use it for a full day! It was super cloudy and full of what seemed to be fluff and lots of long strands of hair. (Fished out at least 20/30 strands) Asked sykes if someone could come out and clean it for us and within 20 minutes we had a maintenance man out cleaning it. He was actually really shocked at how dirty it was and he had to replace the water and filter as it was brown and slimey. The matteress in the master suite was unbelievablely hard too! We had a terrible night's sleep. For these warmer nights you should supply a cheap fan for the rooms as we were glued to the bedding each morning even with the windows open. All of those stated above put a sour taste in our mouths. its a Beautiful place where the lodge is Situated in but unfortunately we won't be returning.

We (family of 5) enjoyed our stay at Ptarmigan Lodge very much.
The lodge is situated at a small pond ("private loch") and has a beautiful view over the mountains. It is a very quiet place. The lodge is nearly perfect. It is beautifully decorated, spacious with 3 bedrooms (with 3 separate bathrooms!!), has an excellent kitchen, and provides everything one needs and even more: e.g. there even was an apron and binoculars, books, games etc. not to mention a lot of information about the surroundings collected in 2 bands and flyers of attractions and hiking tours (very nice ones with water falls). The only slight downside was that the internet/wifi is not very good and pretty slow. At arrival, a welcoming postcard and a bottle of wine were waiting for us, which we really appreciated. We were sad that we had to leave the lodge after a week end would gladly return once upon a time.
