Exquisite Weymouth Cottage sleeping up to 8 guests

This delightful Grade II listed house, built in 1865, is situated in Nottington, on the outskirts of the popular seaside resort of Weymouth. It is an excellent holiday home for a large family or two families to enjoy this lovely part of Dorset. It offers ample accommodation with a large living room, four bedrooms with three being en-suite, and a large garden to relax and unwind in; perhaps with a barbecue when you return from your day out exploring. Its location is ideal for going into Weymouth and spending a day on its award-winning sandy beach, visiting Sea Life Aquarium and Tower, enjoying a boating trip with some fishing, or even a day trip to the Channel Islands.

On your doorstep, take in some breathtaking scenery on the nearby Chesil Beach and famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast, and enjoy some superb coastal walking and call in on some wonderful seaside locations, such as Lulworth Cove, Burton Bradstock, West Bay (scene of the TV series ’Broadchurch’) and on to the lovely character seaside resort of Lyme Regis. Within easy driving, the nearby Monkey World will provide great family fun, as will the Bovington Tank Museum with its wonderful live displays. Also, visit Corfe Castle, the West Swanage Steam Railway and much more. Dorchester with its many museums, shops and restaurants is close by, or further afield, Poole and Bournemouth have a lot to offer. Fishing available nearby. Beach 2 miles. "The cottage proved to be ideal for our use. The only minor issue was that there are a number of small faults which have reported in comments from from previous guests over the last 18 months and which have still not been addressed."
Patricia – 7 Sep 2018
"This cottage is fine but let down badly by a series of faults, each one minor but overall adding up to a feeling that both the owner and the local support staff don't care about the property. This is why I have only given it a 3 rating. As evidence, all these faults have been noted in the guest comments book in the cottage itself (some from many months back) but never acted on, so clearly no point in writing anything in there. A prime example is the fact that the front door handle is loose and easily dislodged from its working position (& falls off easily if you pull it)! This means that if you are inside the building and the outside handle is slightly dislodged then you can't open the door to get out! An obvious safety hazard.Other examples are the broken lid on the kitchen rubbish bin, the wonky toilet roll holder in on of the bathrooms, the BBQs unusable (dirty), the lack of information on how & when to deal with recyling and rubbish. If the owner were to spend a small amount of money replacing/repairing the various broken items future renters would be much more satisfied than I am."

"We all really enjoyed the holiday,we have been before, and will go again. Close to weymouth were there's plenty to do. The house is very well equipped they have thought of everything, and the kids love it for hide& seek."
Michelle – 13 Jul 2018
"I would stay at April’s cottage again, it was in a good location for us and met our requirements in terms of rooms, accepted dogs, parking for 4 cars. However there were quite a few negatives which could easily be rectified. Negatives:1) only 1 tea towel, this had already been highlighted more than once in the book onsite but nothing done about it. 2) garden needed more attention - lots of weeds, overgrown on steps3) blocked drains - we spoke to caretaker about this but nothing done about it4) blood on bed sheet & mattress protector!! Told caretaker and nothing done about that either 5) poisonous plants at back of garden!! Unacceptable. We had to buy a fitted sheet and tea towels from local supermarket as caretaker didn’t bother doing anything about this when we spoke to them. Left msg for owner too (number in final details e-mail) but was also ignored"
Christine – 11 Jun 2018
"No hot water on the Friday seems to have been an on going problem with previous guests needed more clearer information in cottage handbook to help but plumber did sort out problem quickly gardens and front of cottage were in need of a lot of attention not like photos on website which was very disappointing as all the other places we have stayed in have been lovely it’s a shame as if these things had been done it would have been really great sorry but this one did not have the same standard as the others"
Pauline – 8 Jun 2018
"Our second stay at S60169, first time in the summer so really noticed how neglected the garden is. The house is spacious and great for an extended family. I would say it needs a bit of tlc as nothing updated from last winter . However, kitchen great, beds comfy, good no. of bathrooms. Loads of parking and quiet location but short car journey to supermarkets. The cleaning is adequate not assiduous and there is very little provided (first time I have had to buy cleaning stuff in a holiday house!). If you are not expecting luxury but want space, this cottage would be OK"
Pamela – 25 May 2018
"Aprils cottage was very spacious for 6 of us and was in a private lane with plenty of parking. The welcome gift was great and the number of bathrooms a real bonus for a large group. Our only criticism would be that the website states pub and restaurant within 1 mile but that is not the case (well we couldn't find one!) as the nearest one has closed down so we think that should be corrected to avoid disappointment. Overall, lovely stay."
Sue – 19 Apr 2018
"We had a lovely three days at the cottage which was spoilt when one of the kitchen chairs collapsed on the last evening, fortunately the person, a 76 year old, fell sideways and although bruised was not seriously hurt. It could have been a different story if he had fallen backwards and hit his head on the stone floor. There was another chair that was also in danger of collapsing. We informed the caretaker and hopefully the problem has been resolved as we would like to go back again. Lovely accommodation for an elderly but fit group especially as each bedroom had its own facilities."
Zazie – 6 Apr 2018
"This is a beautiful, spacious, clean and comfortable house. We were seven up and it had plenty of room and bathrooms for everyone. The rooms were warm and comfortable, the cottage is very pretty and the garden is perfect for children and secure for dogs. The location wasn't ideal for us as walkers. Nottington lane doesn't have pavements and the closest public footpath was a dice with death to reach and even then not especially inspiring. Of course not a problem if one prefers to drive out sight-seeing.Within close distance are many lovely places to visit. We enjoyed Weymouth and drove over to Charmouth along the Jurassic coast road to do some fossil hunting. Althehampton was charming and worth a visit (dog-friendly gardens). All in all a lovely week.Note: the woodburner is currently not connected so don't book based on a cosy night by the fire!"
David – 30 Mar 2018
"This is a charming cottage with plenty of room and a very large homely kitchen. Having two stairways was a bonus as upstairs could be accessed without waking the children. The garden was large which was great for the young ones to play but it is not secure as far as dogs go, ours could not be left out there unsupervised. The level of equipment was brilliant and we would definitely stay there again."
Tim – 19 Mar 2018
"Very satisfied in all regards - even laid on some snow for added novelty value."
FOULKES – 5 Feb 2018
"My family and I love this cottage. It is so comfortable and spacious. What we love most of all is the peaceful location. It has a huge lounge but we spent most of our time in the kitchen, the heart of the cottage. This was our second stay in just a few months and we will definitely be back again :) q"
Pauline – 11 Dec 2017
"The cottage is spacious, comfortable, well decorated and homely. The kitchen is very well equipped. We had issues with the heating so would need to be reassured that they were addressed before staying in the winter again. The plumbing in one bathroom is very noisy but it is an old house, so not entirely unexpected. There is a magnificent fireplace with a woodburner which, unfortunately, is not working. Overall, the cottage is beautiful with loads of space, inside and out."
Victoria – 3 Nov 2017
"Well furnished and spacious. We loved the bedrooms and bathrooms which were plentiful, extremely comfortable and a pleasure to stay in. The kitchen was an inviting place to eat dinner and play games in the evening, and well equipped. The lounge had plenty of seating and was cosy for such a large room. We did have a problem with the heating but this was sorted very quickly. The only thing which could have been improved was the place mats in the kitchen which weren't in great condition. Nottington was a good location for going to places, although the village wasn't particularly a pretty one nor was there a pub in walking distance, however on this occasion the comfort of the cottage was more important to us. One thing to note: please locate the name of the cottage at eye level - when in the car you aren't looking 2metres high for a sign, so we missed it several times."
Peter – 6 Oct 2017
"Great place for 8 adults staying as a group."
Richard – 29 Sep 2017
"We found the cottage clean and equiped to a high standard. We appreciated the welcome pack and we able to relax in this beautiful house. We had a very happy holiday and enjoyed Weymouth and the surrounding area.We were a small party and were able to spread ourselves out and chill out. It would be ideal for a family get together . Given the opportunity we would love to stay there again."
Sue – 8 Sep 2017
"Fabulous week in a beautiful cottage with so much charm and comfort. Access to many lovely towns and villages, great walks and even lots to do if the weather is not great! Can highly recommend."
Valerie – 25 Aug 2017
"Had a lovely time at April cottage, had everything you could want they have thought of everything. Plenty of room really good showers and a big garden will definatley return."
Stacey – 18 Aug 2017
"Great place to stay, roomy and comfortable. Private garden great for dogs. Lovely kitchen and great facilities."
Dennis – 4 Aug 2017
"S60169 is in a beautiful location and the cottage is very large and charming. There is nearly everything you need in the cottage to enjoy your stay but a tumble dryer would be a great addition. There is plenty of parking at the cottage and Weymouth is only a five minute drive away. There is a large garden, which we all enjoyed especially our dog, however the garden would benefit from some love and attention. It was a very quiet and peaceful location. It was amazing to be in the countryside with great views and to know the sea was only five minutes away. We had a great time and would return for another holiday."
Stephanie – 17 Jul 2017
"We had a great time. It's a lovely cottage which has been beautifully refurbished although I think that more could be made of the garden. The cottage is situated in a country lane and has fantastic views, but literally half a mile up the lane you have a petrol station and supermarkets. It was easy to get a cab too which is handy if you want to go into town and have a drink!"
M L – 14 Jul 2017
"Lovely cottage in a secluded setting, generously proportioned so that even with 8 of us we never felt cramped. A few things missing e.g. would have been good to have a waste basket in the downstairs bedroom and a supply of compostable food waste bags would have made food recycling less unpleasant. Overall nice and quiet location, great garden if you have a dog, well appointed, very clean, nicely furnished. Having key in a key safe is a good idea as we could come and go separately and always be able to let ourselves in whoever came "home" first."
Ethel – 23 Jun 2017
"The garden is in desperate need of attention. It appears that the grass being cut is the only priority. The water system is very noisy particularly a problem with very young children.Although cleaning had obviously taken place, under the sofas in the lounge had not been cleaned for sometime. This only became apparent when looking for one of the baby's toys."
WALTON – 9 Jun 2017
"We all loved Aprils cottage, it was spacious, very clean and situated ideally to get out and about. Our only complaint was that the garden is really uncared for and would make it much nicer if it were kept up !"
Louise – 26 May 2017
"We had a great time at April Cottage. It's huge and beautiful. Because we had a 5 month old with us, the layout of the rooms and the separate staircase to 2 of them worked really well. The garden was perfect for the dog as it's totally enclosed.Plenty of parking. The location was great for exploring the area although we wished there was a good pub within walking distance. I would definitely recommend staying here and would do so again if required."
WAKLEY – 15 May 2017
"We all enjoyed our stay at Aprils Cottage. Spent most of the time in the kitchen, sat around the massive table. Lovely garden. Would definitely like to stay there again."
Annette – 24 Apr 2017
"Lovely cottage, lots of charm. Disappointed the log burner was disconnected. From previous comments in the guest book it seems it has been like this for sometime. We would have liked to have been informed about this. We always book cottages with log burners... makes for a cosy evening.. Hence why this was a requirement when booking."
Scott – 21 Apr 2017
"Wonderful cottage. So much space for everyone. Great kitchen for the whole group to sit at together and our puppy really enjoyed the large garden.Would recommend to everyone seeking to visit Dorset"
Ron – 7 Apr 2017
"It ideally suited our needs providing perfect environment for a family get-together. Its location enabled us to explore local attractions whilst offering us tranquility with a rural outlook."
Terri – 31 Mar 2017
"Loved the cottage . Although the patio area needs some work as there are weeds everywhere very easy to trip. A few cobwebs here and there. Beds were very comfortable and clean ( most important ) would stay again but not in the high season."
Stephanie – 13 Mar 2017
"Great weekend away with friends and our children. Will be going back."
EDWARD – 3 Mar 2017
"S60169 is a large roomy house, well furnished and in a nice private location. Close to Weymouth so handy for exploring the coast. I would stay there again."
Theresa
"Great cottage!!"
Deb
"A fabulous, well equipped cottage with lovely countryside views, but perfect location only a couple of miles from Weymouth. Beautifully decorated bedrooms and ensuite bath/showerooms. Huge lounge with comfy sofas and a wood burner (which we didnt need to use). We were a party of 3 generations and everyone loved it. Albus, our dog, loved exploring the garden. Would definitely revisit."

"Beautiful spacious property well equiped and in a great location for beaches and shops. Couldn't find a pub or dog walking fields in the village but with such a great property with large gardens we were happy not to search too hard!"
