  We just came home from a weekend at the Gatehouse to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday and honestly had the most wonderful stay. From start to finish this is the best house we have every stayed in, we are already looking for when we can book to come back, and we only live 5 minutes up the road! Two families along with our dogs staying in perfect comfort, and the owners were very lovely and let us have extra family members come to the house in the afternoon for a little birthday get together. The location could not be better, only a couple of minutes’ walk from a multitude of lovely shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes in Wimborne town centre, yet when you are within the house and garden it feels remote and rather rural. Lots of parking and huge enclosed garden considering so close to town. The house is stunningly beautiful, yet has a really cosy, homely feel and you feel like you can relax and enjoy it without worrying too much. Beautiful lounge with log burner, great kitchen/breakfast room, large cinema/games room with doors out to hot tub is incredible. Very comfy beds, robes in all bedrooms which are perfect for too and from the hot tub, lovely toiletries in bathrooms and welcome pack in kitchen on arrival. Code to access house instead of keys is genius. Netflix, Apple TV, Xbox and huge TV kept the kids very happy. I could go on and on! The only problem was we were all incredibly depressed leaving yesterday, the kids cried!

  Perfect in every way. From the initial communication to our arrival we were absolutely blown away by the level of hospitality from Jonathan and his team. The house was immaculate and the table filled with fresh eggs, bread, cookies and all the necessities for a weekend away with friends. For us these little touches meant so much, and paid homage to the area of Wimborne - a lovely tribute. The house itself was spotless, the beds were comfortable, we didn't even need to pack shampoo/conditioner as they covered this for us - amazing! We were even greeted by the Housekeeper, Katherine, on the Sunday morning who noticed us packing up to leave and just wanted to say hello. This kind of personable approach is hard to come by these days and was really lovely. She asked us if we liked her homemade cookies, and how she'd collected the eggs herself from the estate hens on the Friday. She was so nice! The position of the house was ideal, meaning we didn't need to use our cars much as it was just off the high street near shops, and next door to a lovely cafe too! I work for a collection of 5 star hotels across the UK and can safely say the whole experience resembled that of a luxurious resort from the service to the accommodation. For friend get-togethers, family trips and parties it's nothing short of amazing. Thank you!

  Dulcima Cottage was a warm and welcoming place to arrive to on a damp and gloomy Saturday in the week before Christmas. The cottage was spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, particularly the beds. The kitchen is well provided for (especially if you are doing 'real' self-catering), and the welcome treats of chocolate biscuits, four pints of milk (not the usual token one or two pints), and bottle of prosecco were a nice surprise. Since we were close to Christmas, it was nice to see a lit Christmas tree and some decorations making the cottage even more homely. The garden is large with many facilities, and if you have small children there is a slide, climbing frame and swings to keep them entertained. The only down side is that after driving into the property's entrance, the only realistic way to exit is to reverse onto a busy road, which is closer to the front of the property than the photo suggests. However, since the main cottage entrance is at the rear within the enclosed garden, there is no real issue for people on foot. Overall this is a good location for visiting many parts of Dorset, or just for local walks to the many nature reserves and open spaces.

  Took my children and grandchildren for a short break to celebrate my 70th birthday, grandchildren’s ages 5, 8, 17, 19. The Gate House is perfectly placed, 1 minute walk and you are in the centre of Wimborne, lots of independent shops as well as high end. Quaint pubs, bistros and pamper parlours. The Gate House itself just as described the games room fantastic and everything you could think of catered for. We really enjoyed the hot tub and were very impressed morning of departure to see it emptied and so scrupulously cleaned. We will definately be returning as this is the ideal place to come for more family gatherings covering all the age ranges. Jonathan who looked after us always at the end of the phone, courteous, and helpful returning my husbands electric toothbrush by return, we have had many similar breaks but this was outstanding and we hope to return very soon!
