Situated opposite the village green and the river, this thoughtfully converted, semi-detached cottage, provides a lovely holiday base to relax or from which to explore the area. Good walks and cycle routes are all around and with the likes of Chatsworth House, The Peak District, Mansfield, Sherwood Forest, Nottingham and Newark all within a short drive there is plenty to see and do. There is a good selection of shops in the village and with the Jug and Glass public house next door there is somewhere convenient to enjoy the local beer and food. Shop ½ mile, pub 10 yards and restaurant 4½ miles.

This is a quirky traditional cottage located right next door to the pub of the same name. The village itself is very small but is close to Mansfield and Chesterfield and provides a comfortable base for exploring the gateway to the peak district. It's a very old building and as such there are low doorways, but the hosts have made it very comfortable and welcoming. The shower is tricky if you're tall as the bath is beneath a sloping roof, but for 5 mins per day it's no bother. Kitchen is well equipped and there were some lovely additions including milk, tea, coffee, sugar and some treats (loads of treats!). Parking was easy and right in front of the cottage. The food in the pub next door and from the takeaway in the village was delicious and great value for money. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to families.

The cottage and garden was beautiful..everything we needed and such lovely thoughtful extras were advised about the stairs but did find them awkward.. but it was quiet and having the excellent pub next door and beautiful walks we never got in the car again until we left.. great place friendly people around and fantastic food next at ridiculously low prices...

We had a fantastic stay. The cottage is lovely and in a great location. The attention to detail was excellent with lots of lovely little touches. The Jug and Glass pub next door was great. Very friendly staff and locals. Good honest pub food. Welbeck Estate (only a 12 minute drive) was a gem of a find. We would definitely stay here again.
