Named after summit of Skiddaw, the 5th highest peak in the Lake District, is this Scandinavian-style lodge, Siddaw 13. Resting on the outskirts of Keswick, a bustling town at the heart of the national park, this is a great find for groups of families or friends seeking an action-packed break to an area renowned for its outdoor pursuits and attractions. Built from of Lakeland Slate and Swedish timber, Skiddaw 13 enjoys a reverse-level layout to maximise the stunning treetop views that surrounds the lodge. Relax and unwind into each evening within the open-plan living room, situated on the first floor, where there is picture window, that opens out onto a balcony area.

The social hub of the home comes with a well-equipped kitchen, certain to cater to your culinary needs and a dining table, where you can all gather together to tuck into meals, toast to a wonderful holiday and to plan the days ahead. The inviting sitting area is perfect for lounging around one rainy day or for simply relaxing in front of the TV or with a good book. However, during balmy evenings head out onto the large balcony, where table and chairs offer an alternative dining arrangement and so that you can catch the final glimpses of sunshine as you admire the superb surroundings.

Once the evening has drawn to a close, be sure to savour a moment of relaxation by enjoying a bath, situated within the ground-floor family bathroom before retiring to one of the two bedrooms, comprising of a twin bedroom and the master bedroom, where you can look forward to curling up on the plush king-size bed ahead of a new day. Take time to explore Keswick, with its award-winning market, cluster of interesting shops and plenty of places to eat and drink. Within the town are a number of attractions also, ranging from miniature golf, museums with a difference to the National Trust property of Derwent Island House and the 400 seat Theatre By The Lake on the shores of Derwentwater.

One of the more popular things to do whilst here, are the boating trips on the Derwentwater or venturing the marina, where you can try your hand at sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding, whilst being surrounded by the imposing hills of Skiddaw, Cat Bells and Borrowdale. Alternatively, you can lace up your hiking shoes and tackle the summit of Skiddaw or one of the many fells including, Cat Bells, Coledale Horeshoe and Blencathra. Why not head underground to explore Honister Slate Mines or take your two-wheels to discover the beautiful Whinlatter Forest. Skiddaw 13 is a great find for adventurous family’s holiday to the Lakes.
