For visitors searching tranquillity and panoramic views, this very comfortable single-storey cottage stands detached, and offers an ideal haven and a private setting on the owners’ small farm. Set amidst the stunning limestone scenery at the head of the Manifold Valley, 6 miles from Buxton with its lively market and summer festival, there is excellent walking and cycling from the door with the Manifold Trail nearby and a choice of good dining pubs in the local villages. The lovely houses of Lyme Park, Little Moreton Hall (NT), Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Castleton Caverns and Matlock Bath are all within a half hour drive. Golf is 7 miles and horse riding is 4 miles away. There is also a swimming pool 6 miles away. Shop and pub 3 miles.

House was tired and in need of modernising. Cobwebs and only 5 bent hangers like the last review we read earlier this year so not taken a blind bit of notice. Pictures misleading as kitchen was tiny and only big enough for 1 person . Upon arrival there was no milk which in over 30 years of hiring houses is a first ( just common courtesy) pub definitely not 1 mile away .on the plus side the living room sofa and chairs were comfortable .

Wouldnt recommend and actually cut out stay short. The location was great but very rural. Nice building. No facilities of any kind. Needed a good clean, eg found dirt in the kitchen where cutlery was kept. Very dated and in desperate need of updating. No WiFi or phone signal. Advertising a private garden but wasnt the case. Wouldnt recommend.

Cleanliness was an issue - windows dirty and with black mould, fridge grubby, ice box completely iced up. Vacuum cleaner full and unable to empty it. Only six wire coat hangers, all bent out of shape.Lovely location, lots of walks and places of interest nearby.
