Guests say

The Savoy in Buxton is a charming, characterful apartment with period décor and stunning views over the town and Pavilion Gardens. Guests consistently praise its central yet peaceful location, spacious rooms, and well-equipped kitchen. The unique Victorian style and antiques add to its appeal, and the dedicated parking space is a real bonus. While some mention minor issues with cleaning, worn furnishings, and tricky windows, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests returning for repeat stays.

Most guests found the apartment clean and well-presented, though a few noted areas needing more attention, such as dust, cobwebs, and occasional items needing recleaning. These comments were in the minority, with the majority describing the property as clean or spotless.

The location is universally praised, with guests loving its proximity to Buxton's attractions, shops, and park, while still being quiet. The central setting and views are frequently highlighted as standout features.

The bed is often described as very comfortable or 'heavenly', and the apartment is considered warm and cosy. Some guests found the sofa or chair uncomfortable or worn, but recent reviews mention a new sofa. A few noted minor issues with pillows or rugs.

The apartment is well-equipped, with modern kitchen and bathroom facilities, and the parking space is highly valued. Some guests mentioned maintenance issues such as broken appliances, hard-to-open windows, or worn furnishings, but these did not detract significantly from their stay.

Several guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as chocolates and bubbly on arrival, though these are not guaranteed. Some noted the absence of tea, coffee, or instructions for appliances, but overall felt welcomed.

The Savoy is located on the edge of Buxton's central park, perfect for accessing the Opera House and the Pavilion Gardens, a few minutes walk away from the main shopping street. The road outside was quiet at night. It was great to have our own parking space, although our large car did acquire a scrape. We liked all the antique furniture and ornaments, the chandeliers were very grand. There is now a new comfortable modern sofa and armchair. The kitchen was up to date and everything worked. Minus points - we were there in hot weather and it was a struggle to open any of the period sash windows. The communal hallways were smelly. The pillows lumpy. We really enjoyed our stay and have already booked to come back next year, we will bring our own pillows though.

Another excellent break in this interesting apartment. It’s a grand mansion apartment with stunning views, which is furnished with many antiques and art in keeping with the building. There was a new sofa since our last visit. The kitchen is compact but very well equipped and functional. We love older buildings and period style and we love this apartment. It’s such a complete antidote to boring minimalism.

We had a lovely weekend in this fabulous flat. It is in a great location with good views over the town and Pavilion Gardens. Perfect for people watching. It is very spacious and well equipped. The bed, sofa and chair were really comfortable. We will definitely return.
