    This large and finely restored period property is situated within extensive and picturesque parkland and provides every modern day comfort and style.

    Dating back to the 16th century, Henley Farmhouse occupies an idyllic position affording uninterrupted views from south-facing lawns and patios, towards Wenlock Edge and Flanders Folly. Thoughtfully appointed and boasting a wealth of period features including beamed ceilings, oak floors and open fires, this is a desirable and spacious ten-bedroom character property.
    Restored to an excellent standard, it provides large relaxing and entertaining space including dining for 20, two spacious living rooms and a separate children’s play area. There is a bespoke farmhouse-style kitchen and convenient secondary kitchen/utility. Its ample bedrooms are thoughtfully appointed and there are nine bath/shower rooms, seven en suite. The property is furnished throughout with a mix of new and antique and the use of traditional English fabrics.
    Very popular with families and groups of friends, Henley Farmhouse achieves many repeat bookings. Customers are welcome to push the divan beds in the twin rooms together if they wish to form double beds.

    Location: You will discover a piece of British history at Acton Scott, for it achieved national fame as the setting for BBC2’s hit TV series Victorian Farm, acknowledging the Acton family’s championing of sustainable practices. It has been followed by another Acton Scott-based BBC TV series Escape in Time, new for 2010 and presented by Ben Fogle.
    Guests can enjoy a memorable setting and a multitude of activities on this lovingly preserved estate, including the Historic Working Farm - where the land is worked with heavy horses to preserve a way of life before the age of the tractor. This visitor attraction is a firm favourite with families. There’s the handy School House café (open April to October) and lovely guided walks and cycle rides.
    The prettiest market towns and traditional country pubs are all close at hand, including Shrewsbury to the north, on the banks of the River Severn; and Ludlow, to the south, in its medieval castle setting. This is a food paradise with Michelin star restaurants and artisan shops galore. The spectacular Stretton Hills and Welsh Marches offer riding, cycling and walking. Among the many nearby sites are Attingham Park, the famous Ironbridge Gorge and its many museums, the castles of Powis and Stokesay and Wroxeter Roman city.
    But if you simply cannot tear yourself away from Acton Scott, the finest local produce and home prepared meals can be delivered to your holiday house, with a la carte catering available to pre-book for special occasions.
    Henley Farmhouse is one of three holiday houses at Acton Scott. The Shooting Lodge is a finely restored and spacious character property set in its own private grounds, sleeps 8+3, ref RNP. Henley Cottage, an authentic Victorian farm labourer’s cottage, as seen on TV, sleeps 4+1, ref ROO4. All three properties may be rented together or individually, to accommodate the needs of larger parties.
    Three miles to the east of Shrewsbury, Rupert Acton is also the custodian of Cronkhill Farmhouse on the National Trust’s Attingham Park Estate. A spacious 17th-century timber framed property with spectacular views towards the River Severn, it sleeps up to 14, see ref RN5.

    "Henley Farmhouse is a great property which we very much enjoyed. The bedrooms were all a good size and some very large. The dinning room and sitting room were great with lots of space for everyone. I was disappointed to find that the kitchen was lacking in some essential cooking equipment and there was not enough cutlery for 20 people - and 3 dishwasher tablets were not going to last long. This did not spoil our holiday it just made cooking more of a challenge than it needed to be. We would visit again, but would have to bring more of my own basic cooking equipment."

    "Overall we had a great holiday and enjoyed all being together in Henley Farmhouse. We have been doing this for over 20 years so have experienced a number of different properties. We would however like to point out a few things that we found somewhat inadequate. Hopefully the suggestions for improvements will be beneficial to future clients.Generally we felt the property was rather 'tired' and well used.Large carpet stain in small lounge.Lounge furniture rather stained n places.Toilet seat in rooms 7 & 9 wobbly. Nail sticking out of floor boards in room7.Wi - fi only available in certain parts of the property. ( Need to state this in description )Kitchen, useless, sharp grater when catering for large numbers. Lack of serving dishes ( only one Pyrex dish) No Oven Gloves. ( Safety Issue) No instructions for microwave. Lack of SHARP knives. Loose seal on Indeset Oven door. Inadequate veg. peeler. Extractor Fan above Côte d'Or Oven wasn't working. Shelf missing in fridge door. Definite need for clearer labelling for recycling. Disgusting unhygienic outside food bin crawling with maggots clearly never washed out and surely a health hazard. Room 3& 4 bathrooms, slow drainage of water from sinks. More coat hangers needed."

    "We had a very enjoyable time at Henley Farmhouse celebrating my 60th birthday. The farmhouse is large, comfortable and well appointed. We had Milly's catering service for an evening meal on Saturday night which was superb. I would thoroughly recommend it. We are just waiting for another big occasion so we can go back."

We appreciated the well presented information about using the house, and the many ideas for local excursions. We would love to return there for another family holiday. It would be a nice gesture for admission into the excellent Action Scott Farming Musem to be included as part of the rental agreement."

    "An outwardly impressive property in a stunning location with plenty of space and old kitchen well equipped. However house shabby and needs a deep clean. No carpets/decent rugs in bedrooms just old floorboards so no sound proofing. Room 6 & 7 - need new mattresses. First morning no hot water, then a power cut interrupted breakfast. TV - limited channels and fuzzy. Booster required. New router came when we were here so big improvement. Garden & views wonderful but 4 chairs and a very old bench broken (has been mended several times - needs replacing). Kitchen equipment, oven gloves etc. ok but dirty and the wooden spoons were disgusting. 11 friends had a good holiday overall but sadly would not return. Would recommend that some of the rent of the house be spent on urgently upgrading the house."

    "Had a family holiday here, an amazing house to use as a base. Would love to come back with sunnier weather to make full use of the outdoor area. We stayed with several little ones which were over 18 months, the main area is very open to the kitchen and stairs but there is a little lounge which allowed them to be more contained if needed!"
