Marine Cottage in Salcombe, Devon, is praised for its spaciousness, stunning views, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, ample bathrooms, and the property's proximity to local amenities and the town. Some concerns were raised about the dated decor and the need for maintenance.
Reviews indicate a generally clean environment, but there were instances of oversight such as leftover laundry and refuse issues. The property was described as spotless by one guest, but another reported cleanliness deductions from their deposit.
The property boasts a decent location with great views and is within walking distance to the town and local store. The uphill walk is noted, but it's considered worth it for the views and convenience.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage spacious, accommodating eight comfortably. However, some guests noted the decor was a bit dated and the presence of dust sheets and plastic coverings detracted from the overall comfort.
The property is well-furnished with a fully functional kitchen, but some maintenance issues like broken patio doors were mentioned. The well-equipped kitchen and functional showers were positives, but the lack of towels and a hairdryer was noted.

Perfectly located for touring and enjoying the stunning South Hams, this delightful, spacious detached four bedroom house is set over three floors in an ideal location proudly sitting in a quiet residential area, overlooking the beautiful harbour town of Salcombe. You will feel at home immediately on entering Marine Cottage which is full of character. On the ground floor the well-equipped kitchen leads out to the stone patio terrace where you can enjoy alfresco dining in private surroundings amongst palm trees. A cosy sitting room to relax at the end of the day and a comfortable dining room with ample room for everyone to sit around at dinner completes the ground floor accommodation. There are four individually furnished bedrooms, two with an en-suite and the second floor room has a sitting area to enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the estuary. To be able to have a lie in whilst watching the boats and yachts on the water is something that will provide lasting memories. Located at the most southerly tip of Devon and surrounded by stunning coastal scenery and beautiful beaches it is easy to understand why Salcombe is one of the most sought after and desirable holiday destinations in the UK. The wonderful outdoor environment offers visitors a host of watersport activities. For beach lovers the sweeping sands of Thurlestone and the sheltered coves of both South and North Sands offer some of Devon's finest beaches whilst a must do will be to take the ferry from the harbour to East Portlemouth where beautiful beaches look directly back over to Salcombe. A wonderful house offering excellent accommodation in a delightful location at any time of year.
Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbecks where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip?
