Nice clean, well equipped accommodation with a great bed. Village had no cafe, restaurant or amenities. 2 very run down pubs. The outside needs weeding.

From the moment we arrived at Ty Afon Arch, the owner who was supposed to greet us at the place decided not to, informing us that the key was in the door. We were given poor instructions for the location of the property and it turns out there were no signs for it and it was located within a driveway to another house. When entering the driveway, the condition outside was poor, weeds everywhere and the lighting around the hot tub looked as though it has been thrown into place. The patio doors were stiff to open, when pulled hard enough they opened, only to find that the door hinges were not adjusted correctly, meaning the door clashed into the fixed door frame all of the time. First impressions inside were poor, there is a disgustingly dirty carpet next to the main sofa which had what appeared to be dogs stains and dog hairs all over it. This made us feel sick. There was a blind missing from one of the windows, when reading the visitor book it appeared that a dog had ripped this up four weeks earlier, and it had not been replaced. No privacy for us, even if we wanted some. The electrical works for the place looked as if there were done by an amateur, this was poorly done, and dangerous in some places. The cable for the bathroom towel rail was shoved through a near same size hole drilled within the tile, this had no gromet to protect the cable, and this was directly next to the sink. The cable if chaffed would leave a dangerous power supply exposed next to water - illegal in all cases, especially for a property used for paying guest who might have children. The bathroom had an extremely stale smell to it, as if there was water seeping through the floor or building somewhere. The entire building felt damp all of the time. So bad that we did not want to use the facilities. The double bed had the worst condition mattress I have ever come across, the sag in this was so deep, you faced your partner up front all evening whilst asleep. We felt sick sleeping here. There were no cleaning products provided within the kitchen area or bathroom, nothing at all. The pots and pans and cutlery were all dirty, probably due to there being no cleaning products. When reading through the visitors book, many people had written about the lack of cleaning products, the condition of the bed was noted some two years earlier. All of this had been ignored by the owner. We left two days earlier than the three we had booked.Disgusting place, do not stay here!!

It was our first trip away this year, and it was the perfect location and break we needed! Very peaceful and relaxing to the sound of the river next to the cottage. The friend of the owners who came to greet us mentioned Carreg Cennen Castle. Which we went to visit on our first day and absolutely loved! The hottub was the perfect way to end our long walks we did to recuperate our muscles. We felt so grateful of this wonderful place as it ticked all the boxes for us. Not only were we greeted upon arrival, but had a welcome gift which was very appreciated, and a lovely little touch. Plus logs for the wood burner for when it got a little chilly in the evenings. We had the most fabulous long weekend. And will be definitely coming back to stay in the future!!! An excellent 5 days in this beautiful cottage.
