What our customers say about their holidays

Shabby but not chic!
The standard of cleanliness was dreadful and I had to clean before we could use things in kitchen and downstairs bathroom. We found socks belonging to someone else in the wardrobe and a fabric pocket for glasses down the side of a tub chair! The furniture was shabby and in a very poor condition; the tub chairs lacked stuffing, where we could feel the wooden ribs of the seat backs, they were very uncomfortable. The lighting inside the property was very poorâ¦the 2 arm wall lights in the lounge - of the two fitting only 1 of the 4 lightbulbs were actually fitted. The ceiling light in the smaller bedroom had neither shade or bulb, despite it being in the pictures of the property. You had to stumble around in the dark to get to the side lights located over the bed - which was the far side of the room to the door, with very little space to walk around the bed. It was unpleasant stumbling around in the dark. The door latches on multiple doors were either defective or made inoperable using plasters placed over the latches (the porch door, the downstairs bathroom, and the second bedroom). I was actually trapped in the second bedroom for 20 mins because of a defective door latch and loose handles not turning the mechanism. I didnât close the door after that. We struggled with the parkingâ¦it stipulated there were 2 outside spaces for off road parking for the property. It seemed that a neighbour felt entitled to use one of those (close to the gate) and so we were parked further away down the side of the village green. Despite being disabled, the land-rover owner didnât feel inclined to let us park in the space we believed was for the cottage, we didnât challenge him because we werenât sure how he would react. All the neighbours refuse bags and bins were hanging off the front fence or lined up by the front gate. We felt like we were walking through a communal refuse collection point and were they were there 100% of the time, it wasnât pleasant. One of the reasons we picked this property was for the outside space advertised. We have a young dog and we needed a secure garden for him to have some time off the lead. The property talked about a lawn and the pictures of the property suggested a large front gardenâ¦that was a sham - it was the village green, popular with lots of dog walkers. This resulted in our dog spending all his holiday on a lead. If weâd had a true picture of the actual outside space, we wouldnât have booked this cottage. Given all our issues - I wish weâd never booked it. The only saving grace was that because of the beautiful weather we enjoyed all week, we were able to spend plenty of time out and about.

Really enjoyed our holiday at the lambing shed and were fortunate With glorious sunny welsh weather!
The cottage itself is fairly small esp the second bedroom (which suits 2 small children) but has a wonderful patio outside which is private and surrounded by the most beautiful scenery to eat alfresco and relax. The location is quiet and peaceful with lots of areas to explore by car & lovely walks from the doorstep. We didnât feel the properly was 5 star in our opinion for a couple of reasons, 1. It wasnât as clean as we would expect & basic supplies were limited ie 3 dishwasher tabs, tiny bin, no washing up liquid or toiletries 2. It lacks that high quality finish. Furniture is cheap & cheerful, sofa uncomfortable & Soft furnishings basic. We didnât find it particularly comfortable or cosy and it lacks that comfortable luxury feel compared to most 5 star properties weâve stayed (this could easily be rectified with abit of tlc & updating). This is possible down to Sykes and there rating standards not being particularly well benchmarked across there cottages. Overall we enjoyed our stay and were out most days visiting local beaches & sights. The owners were lovely & welcoming & the cottage itself and surroundings are fabulous. We would be happy to visit again in the summer and use as a bolt-hole for visiting north wales if the price was right.

As we entered the cottage we were met with an awful "musty" smell and i hit my head as there is no light in the porch and the doorway into the living room is small.
While the cottage looked clean the hard to reach places had not been dusted (e.g.shelf behind the tv and the bannister rails) i had trouble connecting to the internett,so i rang the owner, got answer phone asking for me to leave a number....explained that as i had called a mobile they had my number...as the previous call i had made....no call back. The chairs in the living room were the most uncomfortable i have ever sat in...so much for cosy nights in front of the tv. Washing machine door handle was missing so could not do any washing. The small fridge ( switched off ) had two old ice lollys in the icebox. The shower still had previous peoples shampoos in the container and the towel holder was behind the fridge. In the kitchen there are two containers for sugar....the sugar inside them was rock hard ! the stairs are very dark and a light should be fitted as in the porch. While i know that it is a 200 year old cottage there are ways to do this. Also if "kitchen with everything a chef would need" Why only 2 saucepans. No micrwave A great locationand Pub and the cottage looks good from the outside and in the pictures. I cannot recommend this cottage and will not be back !

Could not have wished for better.
The accommodation was spotlessly clean, all the rooms were well decorated and comfortable, the shower room was excellent and you are provided with lots of towels. Everything you need is in the kitchen including plenty of dishes and cutlery. There is an iron, ironing board and hairdryer, loads of DVD's to suit all tastes and games, crayons etc The WiFi is not very good and we were unable to get a connection while there but that was not really an issue The accommodation is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of resort life and close enough to all the attractions not only within the local area but beyond depending on how far you wish to travel The only sound you hear is the occasional snort of the horses in the field opposite, the bleating of the sheep in the field behind the patio and the birds. The patio is a sun trap and weather permitting you could bask all day if you wanted. I would deffinatley recommended a stay at the Lambing Shed and will be going back Well done the owners 20/10 excellent

The Lambing Shed was well equipped and lovely and in such a lovely peaceful area ,the courtyard was beautiful.
.The Shower was brilliant .Got online ok ,phone signal was a bit hit and miss the 1st day but after that ,was no problem Our 2 cockapoos, Moose and Daisy enjoyed the courtyard, I felt they were quite safe in there ,but on one occasion,Moose did manage to squeeze through the gate post at the front gates ,this was solely because my husband was on the other side waiting for a taxi ,( to watch the match at Y Bodunig Inn £15 each way ) Moose had never tried to squeeze through it before ,and he didnât attempt it again after that one time ,but it did make me more aware .We picked a brilliant week weather wise .You obviously need a car ,but Prestatyn beach is not to far away ,and dogs are allowed on most of the beaches ,they loved running into the sea ,be careful though as there was some very large Jelly Fish . Had a lovely week and would definitely recommend The Lambing Shed ,and would definitely book here again Thank you for the Milk and Welsh Cakes Thank you for having us ,Sue ,Steve ,Moose and Daisy
