  WE HAVE STAYED HERE BEFORE. THERE ARE ONLY TWO MAIN OBSERVATIONS. FIRSTLY THE COST HAS ESCALATED MORE THAN WE EXPECTED BUT WE HAD TO ACCEPT THIS AS BLUEBELL COTTAGE IS CONVENIENT FOR FAMILY WHO WE WERE VISTING PRE CHRISTMAS. FOR FUTURE VISITS THIS COULD MEAN WE GO ELSEWHERE, UNLESS PRICES ARE MORE REASONABLE. SECOND, THE COMFORT AND QUALITY SCORE WOULD HAVE BEEN 5, NOT 4, BUT THE LIGHTING ON THE PATHS IN THE DARK WINTER NIGHTS - NO STREETLIGHTS OR MOON - IS NOT AT ALL GOOD. THE PATHS WERE ICY AND SLIPPERY DURING OUR VISIT (-5 DEG C) SO AN ACCIDENT COULD EASILY HAVE OCCURRED. THE LIGHT BY THE DOOR WAS NOT WORKING. THE PATH/CAR PARK LIGHTING IS SOLAR POWERED BUT WITH NO SUN - NO LIGHTS! IT NEEDS PIR MAINS LIGHTING TO BE EFFECTIVE. MANY THANKS. PHIL DAVY

  This cottage is situated within beautiful countryside & is within easy reach of several beautiful beaches.

  Alternatively, the Yorkshire Moors are also within easy distance. We were thrillled with the garden & the outlook. it was lovely to sit outside & take in the lovely views across to the sea in the distance. Our dogs loved the freedom they had! Rabbits can be seen running across the adjoining field. The very helpful & friendly owners are on site should you have any issues or just want some local information but as another reviewer has said,they leave you to enjoy your holiday. The cottage is more than adequate for two people but it does need a bigger fridge, even for just two. We struggled to fit more than just a few things in.

  Good sized property in converted farm buildings, location excellent for touring both the Yorkshire coast and moors.

  Only marked down as no underfloor heating in bathroom although this is present in other areas of the property so unfortunately your towels stay wet and this room is cold. Main problem for us was the mattress on the double bed, it sags to onside and is extremely hard, not what you would expect for a four tick property, also no private outside space for guests in the Calf house, (there other cottages do have small courtyard spaces), you can walk round the back and sit outside but not accessible direct from the cottage so not very good if like us you have a dog. The owners were lovely and on hand if you need anything.

  Our holiday was for house hunting, so after each day it was great to return to a comfortable warm cottage(the weather was sunny but still quite cold.

  ) The under floor heating was just fantastic, keeping the cottage at a constant temperature. We have dogs and behind the cottage there is a lovely field to exercise the them, with amazing views to the coast. The hosts Sandra and Bill were very nice and helpful with everything including our house hunting. The place was spotless and had everything we needed. The wifi was good which was important to us in our situation(didn't even have time to put the TV on.) All in all a great spot for exploring and come back to. Thank you Sandra and Bill.

  Really enjoyed our stay at Hazel Lodge. Beautiful location and superb view of the Loch- a joy to watch all the wildlife. Lodge was very well equipped and was very comfortable. We thoroughly recommend doing the farm tour, it was so interesting and the sheep dogs are just gorgeous plus Maisie, of course. Area was beautiful with walks along the coast and our favourite Gatehouse of Fleet definitely worth a visit. Would certainly recommend for a week or two.
