What our customers say about their holidays

A lovely old cottage, furniture to match its age.
Kitchen modern, could do with a small freezer as the little freezer in the fridge is so small and had not been defrosted there was not enough room for items I needed to freeze. Bedrooms clean and comfortable beds, bathroom clean the power shower brilliant. The lounge is quite dark but with the lamps on in the evening was very cosy. I brought some wood from the local shop at a very reasonable price and used the wood burner as it did get cold on the evenings, that made it even more cosier. The tv is a smart tv so plenty of choice for watching. Wifi signal good. A few downsides, the hot tap in the kitchen is just a trickle so takes ages to fill the sink to wash up, i dont use a dishwasher as there is only 2 of us. A bit of information on how the heating works would be helpful. The kitchen was surface clean but could do with a deep clean, i had to wash all pans before i could use them and some of the oven trys were very dirty. I put that down to visitors not bothering to clean them after using them but the cleaners should check them. The cupboards are full of plates etc may be far to many but that is not a problem. There were cobwebs on the inside of the bathroom windows that the cleaners had missed, again that was not a big problem for me spiders have to live somewhere. The biggest problem we encountered was the parking. The man who owns the church opposite parks his big car and van outside on the road and makes getting on and off the parking area difficult. The local pub shuts Sunday late afternoon and doesn't open again until Wednesday, that was a bit disappointing as it would have been nice to pop out for a drink on the night. Borth beach easy to reach just 3 miles down the lane off the main road. Overall had a lovely stay in the cottage. Just a bit about the garden. It was a bit over grown but accessible once the gate is closed behind you it is perfectly safe for dogs, totally enclosed. Lovely cottage lovely village. The village shop is well stocked and not over priced, and the staff are very pleasant and helpful.

The property was, in general great.
Some information of where to park would have been useful. I did not feel happy leaving the car on the pavement next to the cottage because this blocked the pavement to pedestrians, but you had to do this because the house is on a bend and the road was surprisingly busy with big trucks and tractors passing by. Had the car been off the pavement to allow pedestrians to pass there would have been a real risk of collision. We parked in a little open lay-by area in front of next-door but one's house. I did not feel happy doing this, although noone asked us to move during the week. The kitchen was well equipped and spacious. We always do much self-catering rather than eating out, so a decent sized kitchen was a welcome change with plenty of work-surface and utensils. The kitchen tap was bizarre because it was more of a spray than a smooth flow so this took some getting used to. The lights over the dining table were too low. Although this looks "cool", if I hit my head once, I hit it a dozen more times. I'm glad I didn't break the glass shade. The bathroom was small but fully functional and it was nice to have a shower space of a decent size, rather than the tiny cubicles found in so many holiday cottages which can be a challenge to actually shower in. We slept in the bedroom to the right of the top of the stairs. The mattress was comfy if a little dippy (due to wear) and the pillows had seen better days and were cheap and flimsy. The linen was also of a very basic quality and although I didn't actually look, I would have been surprised if there had been pillow protectors which I think are essential for multiple occupancy and should be changed after each set of guests - but this goes for anywhere. This sounds like I'm having a moan and I'm really not. As I said, the cottage was great and we enjoyed our stay. I do feel however that it is important that the owners receive an honest critique

The house was lovely and met our needs.
We met the cleaners when we arrived and they were so helpful with recommendations of places to visit. The cottage was very clean and well presented. (I really loved recalling memories of Posy Simmonds contributions to graphic literature). The location was spot on for us. Walks from the house; with steeper climbs than we are now used to, living in Lincolnshire. (We once used to walk around Huddersfield and the Calder Valley with child carriers and pushchairs!) Loved visiting the Osprey centre, the Red Kite feeding and RSPB reserve. Had a train trip to Barmouth - would highly recommend. Aberystwyth is lovely. Bought some excellent honey, pies and pasties from the Saturday 'market'. We went Lindy Hop dancing with the local group on Tuesday evening and they were very welcoming and accommodating. The local village shop is well stocked and friendly. Driving around this part of Wales is lovely. The 20mph sections are really not an issue here (obviously, I can't comment on other areas) but they seem to be sensible and appropriate. The only down side was we felt guilty putting on the electric radiators and we really would have liked to use the multifuel stove, but it seemed like all the shops had given up on wood at this time of year. (It was unusually windy and relatively cold as everyone will be aware this year). It would have been useful to have a stock of wood to use (and pay for). Thanks though. We had a great time on our first visit to the Welsh West coast. Not our last

A cosy, cottage style end of terrace in a small village off the main road halfway between Aber and Mach in the Dyfi biosphere area.
The property was well presented with everything clean and tidy. There are two good-sized bedrooms, a shower room with electric power shower and a comfortable lounge/dining area downstairs. Lovely modern kitchen which inexplicably lacks a microwave (for reference, the switch for the hot water is on the wall directly opposite the side door and the 'external utility' is in the back of the garage). The neighbour has access across the back of the property to reach their garden. The garden was a pleasant place to sit but is not pet-secure. The village pub is very good and the village shop/cafe brilliant. Lovely area, he property is well positioned for RSPB Ynys-hir, the Dyfi Osprey project and Borth beach. Interesting walks into the woods and hills behind the village. Aberystwyth and Machynlleth are within easy reach. Additional observations not for publication. The property is, in our experience, unique in not providing any instructions on the use of the facilities. There was no mention of having to switch on the heater for hot water, no wood left for the wood burner, no explanation that the utility area was in the garage (we assumed it was as the door was left open) and the filter on the tumble dryer clearly had not been cleaned for some time. The TV could use updating particularly with regard to a simple catchup facility. Lighting upstairs is great but downstairs could be better as the room is quite dark.

This is a gorgeous cosy cottage which with a little extra care could be deluxe!
All the bed linen and towels need replacing, they are very tired and old. The towels are very small, faded and mismatched and not very soft! They all need washing and changing after each guest too! The kitchen is delightful and lovely in the sunshine, it needs a little table and chairs ! The outside area is lovely too and with a small amount of effort could be made very welcoming and is a suntrap! The cleaning of the property needs reviewing urgently especially the kitchen utensils, cooker and crockery. Also the smell in the utility cupboard needs looking at and a red diffuser doesn't cover it up! All windows sills need to be kept clean, we had to clean them all especially the downstairs window sill near the stairs as it's very damp and peeling paint is falling off! This incidentally is where we found 2 poor quality toilet rolls! How hard is it to put them in the bathroom? The main room is cosy and warm and the log burner is lovely...2 days supply of wood would be nice! We paid good money to stay and would love to again but are put off by the lack of attention and cleanliness! Finally, we couldn't find the "welcome pack" or the guest book! They were on a shelf in the dining area! We left them on the coffee table! We hope our comments assist the owner to make some important improvements and transform this lovely cottage once again!
