What our customers say about their holidays
Ms Jean Picken - Verified booking
Hello, Firstly, we had a lovely holiday at this cottage, so please view our scoring and extra info as purely constructive. The property location was fantastic - the reason for 4/5 was the drive down to the house, it had a fair few pot holes which put our vehicle through its paces especially laden with out luggage & people. Equipment at property was, overall good, outside as a suggestion and not a picky criticism, would be a garden furniture set. For us, we spend a fair amount of time in the home when holidaying and like using and lounging in the outside space but we wasn’t able to do this here. The wooden picnic table, as okay for half an hour whilst eating but we did find this difficult without a parasol in the heat . Maybe a Pergola with a seating set? I would also like to suggest cutting the privet bush down to the level of the fence to enable guests to enjoy the stunning views on offer. It was such a little heat trap with beautiful views it was just a shame we couldn’t utilise the outside space to how we saw it’s full potential. Cleanliness was spot on. 4/5 for comfort because all of the beds upstairs were super comfy but unfortunately my Mum’’s who is both a pensioner and disabled did find the downstairs mattress uncomfortable because she could feel the springs. Also, again this is purely from our unique perspective and I do leave this particular piece of constructive feedback wherever we visit, because of my Mum’s lack of mobility we always choose properties with downstairs bedrooms with en-suite, which I feel a lot of older people or people with disabilities would do also, so it’s very often overlooked and unfortunately the downstairs bedroom comes with standard low toilets. A maximum height toilet would be an absolutely brilliant addition and a VERY welcome feature to persons with limited mobility. 4/5 given on value for money due to the suggestions above, which we personally missed. We would be likely to book again and with the addition of a comfortable and shaded outdoors space this would change to most definitely as the disability related stuff is a general feedback and not specific to this property alone. Overall, it is a beautiful house, in a lovely area, which was clean, spacious and comfortable. I was kept in contact with both before reaching and leaving the property, there was a lovely hamper and we had two weeks of glorious weather…

Comfortable, modern and clean and generally a lovely place to stay.
The outside could do with some care and modernisation to be in keeping with the neighbouring houses and area as it was a bit of a heart-sink as we drove up. Of note, the information on line does not make it clear that the adjoining bedroom (twin) is literally that. Adjoined to another bedroom with no access to bathroom or landing. This might be less important if you have put your young children in there but absolutely inappropriate if you are booking this house for adult couples. We had planned to use the twin so our adult children and partners could have the doubles. It was inappropriate for us to have to go through their bedroom for the toilet and so I ended up downstairs in the single room with my husband on the floor on a mattress in there with me. There is also a problem with the window frame in the single room and the wind whistles all night. As my husband is elderly and I have physical health conditions it impacted on the enjoyment of our holiday; knowing we had to be in the single room in cramped conditions with the noise of the wind all night. We think this house is great for a family with small children but a no-no for adult couples.

Lovely warm, comfy house with beautiful view across Menai Straights.
Heating is adjustable so if weather changes you can warm or cool down the house as you wish. Bed was very good and ensuite shower fantastic. Couldnât get hot water from bath taps which was disappointing as all other taps ran hot and fast. House is well equipped generally, the only odd thing was no hooks on bedroom or bathroom doors to hang robes and no towel rails for bath towels. Each toilet did have a small hand towel on a ring and hand wash provided which was great. Television has Freeview and Amazon fire stick so if you sign into your Amazon account you can watch a film or series in the evening on a good sized flat screen TV on the large corner sofa - so it evenings are not warm enough to enjoy the patio you are still able to relax in comfort with tv or a book. The village doesnât have a shop in walking distance and no welcome pack at all in house so come prepared with own snacks if youâve travelled far and want a cuppa and a rest on arrival! Overall a good place for a break where you can be in Caernarfon or Llanberis in under half an hour.

Isallt was exactly what we were expecting and needed from our stay, with everything you could possibly need from the kitchen, including tea towels, oven gloves etc.
The view from the rear of the property over the Menai Strait was a real treat, especially as the living/dining room overlooked it. The beds were comfy, with soft bedding, and there were plenty of hand towels and bath towels provided. We met the human neighbours who were very friendly and quiet, and the animal neighbours were a delight! It really was a lovely surprise having the horses in the field at the front, especially as they had 2 foals. There aren't any amenities in Rhostryfan, but there are some nice walks along the old railway line, and you are very close to a Morrisons Daily if you run out of something. Caernarfon is very close by and has a selection of supermarkets and takeaways. Last but not least, Wendy and Michael are incredibly helpful, and when our car broke down and we were stuck the day before we were due to leave, Michael pushed our check out time back to give us time to arrange a hire car, and offered his help, making an incredibly stressful time easier! We would definitely stay here again.

Our first stay in Porthmadog.
No 25 is a comfortable place to stay, tasteful decoration makes the house feel larger than it looks. The view from the French windows is beautiful with lots of bird life and the Ffestiniog railway to watch, really relaxing. The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of good quality crockery, pans and glassware. The property is really convenient for the shops, cafes and the Ffestiniog railway and lovely coastal walks. We enjoyed our stay and would stay in No 25 again. The only negative issue for our stay (and weâre not extra picky) was that the floors hadnât been hoovered in the bedrooms and lounge and the bathroom and hall floors were very dusty and âbittyâ. The skirting boards and window cills were very dusty and there was also a collection of cigarette ends just outside the door. We gave it all a quick hoover and clean and it didnât ruin our stay but just wanted to point this out so that the owner can take it up with the cleaning company.
