What our customers say about their holidays

Well equipped, very clean & well presented & the sofa appears to be new (different from that in the photos) & probably due to previous comments about it being uncomfortable.
We found it to be very comfortable. A âsetâ fire wouldâve been good, or include a small supply of logs/kindling. No cleaning products available although the tea towel/single dishwasher tablet & washing machine capsule & leftover washing up liquid was appreciated. Suggest a single multi-surface product is provided. It might be worth looking at the ironing board as itâs a little unstable. On departure I removed the out of date condiments, in-line with âhouse rulesâ although these were left by previous occupants. I Googled how to use the washer/dryer - again much appreciated to provide one though. We found the key for the side access to the larger rear space but it didnât feel like we could use it & was quite sparse. Overall this accommodation is almost 5 stars & is in a fabulous location: to achieve full marks: 1) Provide multi-surface/purpose cleaning product. 2) Set fire or enough logs/kindling to make ONE, then occupants should fund their own. 3) Update the blue folder with more specific âcottageâ guidanceâ¦suggest sectioning the content cottage guidance/food/things to do. This really is a great place to stay, very homely, well laid out & designed. The points raised are NOT complaints, just opportunities for improvement & itâs very clear the owners are reading & positively actioning feedback they receive. We felt like we wanted to look after it & maintain its standards. Weâd definitely recommend this accommodation.

As has been said by others, the view from the balcony (and the kitchen and back bedroom) is sensational and as such any minor gripes can be forgiven.
One minor gripe is that the kitchen has too much of some things (you could chart the history of plates from 1950-2020) and not enough of others (chopping boards, tea towels, salad spinner, large serving dish for 6, knives that cut somethingâ¦). The abundance of crockery meant there wasnât much cupboard space and we would have struggled to find space for food if weâd shopped for more than a couple of days at once. The corner sofa in the living room was very comfortable though it was tight for 6 adults when we all watched (the rather small) TV. Sky tv was available but the dvd player didnât work which was a bit disappointing. The 2 showers were great but access into the main bathroom was impeded by a large sink table which resulted in a few stubbed toes! Itâs worth noting that unloading isnât as tricky as most Dartmouth properties as there is room for a car to park outside the house without it getting in the way of other cars. Others have mentioned the garage so just to add that its dimensions may not allow for the sprung hinges for the door which reduce the clearance at the exact position of the folded wing mirrors were by a further 2 inches either side! Overall however it was a comfortable, rather tired looking but therefore quite relaxing house, in a great location, not exactly spotless but clean enough and weâd happily go back and stay there again.

We really enjoyed our week at Crew House.
It was very clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen is well stocked and probably the best weâve had in years of self catering holidays. The beds were comfy and the shower was nice and hot. The walk up from the car park is steep at the end, and the stairs to get to the front door are also steep, but hand rails help. We didnât have the weather on our side so didnât get to use the small terrace unfortunately, but the living room was very comfy. My husband particularly likes the little chair so now we are on a hunt to find one for our house! There is a good selection of games, books and DVDs. The tv is not a smart tv, so no access to anything like Netflix, which would have been nice given the terrible weather, but we made do. The only point Iâd raise is that the wardrobes in the front bedroom smell like cigarette smoke. I donât know if this is coming from next door, but perhaps an odour neutraliser inside would help? We would highly recommend a stay here, it was perfect for our family (2 adults, a child l, a toddler and a small dog) and we wouldnât hesitate to stay here again.

We had a very nice few days at Crew House.
Location is particularly great. HOWEVER, on the last night as I was getting into bed, I noticed a small black bug crawling in the duvet. I looked around and noticed there was a quite a few more on the base of the divan beds in the twin room, as well as in the carpet, and on the curtains. It really unnerved me as I cannot cope with creepy crawlies! It really ruined my holiday to be honest. I didnât think it fair to write a review initially, so I e-mailed Sykes direct, however they offered absolutely no apology and said they would pass it on to local team. I recently received another e-mail from them, clearly sent in error, which was meant for someone else who also stayed at Crew House. Coincidentally, they had also complained about bugs in the house, which Sykes are claiming are âgrains of dirtâ - dirt does not crawl? As there was no apology, no action taken, and Iâm obviously not the only one who has experienced this, I felt I had no other option than to write this review and make others aware.

Without doubt the best thing about this property is the views, absolutely stunning.
The house is set out over 4 floors (if you include the patio), with pretty much everything you will need inside. Before arriving we were concerned about the parking/garage situation (having read previous reviews) however we managed to get a Range Rover in the garage which was tight but at least your guaranteed a parking spot (believe me there like gold dust in Dartmouth). As the address would suggest the house is high up âAbove Townâ so be prepared to wear sensible footwear!! As much as we enjoyed our stay, there were a few negatives, The cleanliness of the utensils, plates, glasses & cutlery wasnât good. The freezer doesnât work properly, there is a sign on the freezer warning to ensure the door is shut but even then it didnât work well. The mattresses on the two double bedroom need replacing. Donât want to come across as too negative as on the whole we really did enjoy our time there however for £400 per night I would expect these things to be in order
