What our customers say about their holidays

We don't usually submit reviews, however we felt that the description of this property oversold it and it was in need of some tender loving care.
The points we want to draw to the owner's attention are noted below: 1. Cleanliness - crockery, tea pot and cutlery needed to be washed prior to use. Previous guests appear to have merely rinsed these items and put them away rather than throughly wash them. The washing machine also dirty resulting in marks on light coloured clothing. Rubber door seal needed cleaning and perhaps too much washing powder was used in previous washes! Spiders webs with dust were found in the bedroom and bathroom. The radiator in the bedroom was full of hair and dust. 2. Shower- the thermostat could not be adjusted, paint splatters on the shower tray 3 Bedding - flannelette sheet and pillowcases on the bed, far too warm in the height of summer 4 Other internal issues - clock in kitchen not working, fridge freezer old, fridge door doesn't always close although there is a note on the fridge saying push to close, drawer in freezer had been broken and was glued back together rather than replaced, dificult to control temperature in fridge due to its age, either freezing or not cold enough. Fruit bowl on shelf broken and although kitchen well equiped we found a lot of chipped crockery. Kitchen stools too high to comfortably sit at the breakfast bar. 5. Back garden - weeds in back seating area. Recycling bins take up a lot of room and would benefit from being all together in a stacking device. 6. Parking- Its not a quiet street, its very narrow with cars parked on both sides and no turning space at the end. Parking was a challenge and other residents asked us to move our car from the door.

Overall the cottage was cosy and had everything needed for a good stay.
The only reason I haven't given maximum marks is for the following reasons: I haven't stayed at a property yet where the owners do much about keeping it dry from damp. I noticed around the windows had been washed to get some mildew/mould off, but not with mould killer. Around the front door was particularly bad. The front door lets in water underneath when its raining hard which probably adds to the problem. The front door surrounding wall had black mould on it, although not thick. Its just a concern because we both have respiratory problems and had only just recovered from flu before coming. We ran the heating whenever we were in and it helped dry it out a bit and the damp smell to diminish. Also, the underfloor heating that was advertised was switched off at the fusebox and had no remote left to operate it anyway or the flooring thermostat was not set. We could have done with this running as the central heating struggled a bit when the temperature dropped a couple of times. We liked the fact the kitchen was well equipped and the shower nice and hot. One point about the bathroom. It is very easy to burn yourself on the towel rail due to the confines of the bathroom. No major complaints , just the things above, if they were dealt with I would have given a higher score. I understand the climate there and what the cottages are like, I used to live just down the road in Machynlleth. But being an asthmatic, i really would have liked the damp dealt with in advance of arrival. Thanks.

He home itself was beautiful and the location was perfect so peaceful and exactly what we wanted, all the amenities that you want and need.
The cleanliness of the home could have been much better, the previous guests had had some sort of celebration and there was still evidence of discarded balloons and confetti all over the home, we had to get the hot tub checked as we found the water to be cloudy and quite smelly this meant we didnât use it as much as we would have liked, the owners did come and put more chlorine in and offered to empty the hot tub for us. Whilst i understand the home is on a farm the amount of cobwebs when we arrived were everywhere a quick brush of the ceilings on change over would quickly sort these out and possibly eliminate the amount of spiders. The cooker in my opinion needs looking at it took us 1 hour and 20 minutes to cook some oven chips there were no real clear instructions for the cooker so we had to google them and even though we were using the correct settings it was still operating poorly, the extraction fan when switched on sounded like I was on the runway of an airport so again I think that needs replacing or looked at. Whilst we donât expect perfection these small things would have actually made the home perfect. The home is a beautiful home in the most picturesque setting and these little tweaks would definitely have made our stay perfect. Would I recommend and stay again yes absolutely.

Tanrallt is a lovely little property in a small village in Corris - Phil the owner is really helpful and can not do enough to make your stay welcoming and comfortable.
The only reason we have marked it slightly down is we found the property to have a damp feeling whilst we were staying there. This is probably due to the location of the village (in a valley) and the fact that there is a steep slope at the back of the property with constant running water. This combined with the age of the property probably caused the damp feeling. The kitchen window unfortunately has a lot of brambles very close to it stopping any view - I'm sure this is something Phil will be tackling. The neighbours and villagers where all really helpful and friendly. There is a beautiful river running close to the property which is just a 5 minute walk away. Wales is full of beautiful walks and scenery. The coast is also only a 30 minute drive away so you have the best of all worlds staying at this property.

Enjoyed every minute of the holiday.
The house exceeded our expectations. Very modern but in keeping with a farm/cottage feel. The surroundings are breath taking and situated in a very rural location. We enjoyed the privacy it offered and peace. Our three young children loved it and the freedom it offered. The hot tub was a big hit for all! The house was well equipped, from having cling film, kitchen towel to salt and pepper in the kitchen! Plenty of dishes and utensils....well thought out. Stunning attractions near by and I would highly recommend the Elan Valley as a must. The town of Llandrindod is also lovely with a great park and lake. Loads of places to explore and have picnics. We will most definitely be back and may persuade friends to join as it's possible to book all 3 properties together. Fantastic holiday, thank you/ Diolch
