  A Perfect Countryside Getaway at The Barn in lower Longcombe Our recent stay at The Barn in Devon was nothing short of spectacular. Nestled in the serene countryside, this beautifully restored barn offered the perfect blend of charm and modern comfort, making it an ideal retreat for friends and family. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stunning surroundings. The rolling hills, lush green fields, and picturesque views provided a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The Barn itself is a masterpiece of design, with its exposed wooden beams, stone walls, and tasteful decor creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The accommodations were superb. The spacious living area, provided a perfect gathering spot for our group. The kitchen was fully equipped, allowing us to prepare delicious meals which we enjoyed in the stunning indoor and outside dining area. Each bedroom was a sanctuary of comfort, with plush beds and beautiful furnishings ensuring a restful night's sleep for everyone. One of the highlights of our stay was the outdoor space. The Barn boasts a beautiful patio with ample seating, perfect for alfresco dining or simply soaking up the stunning views. We spent many evenings sharing stories and enjoying the star-filled sky. The dogs loved the open space to run and play, while the adults appreciated the peace and tranquility. The location is ideal for exploring the Devon countryside. We enjoyed scenic walks right from our doorstep, discovering charming villages, and taking in the breathtaking landscapes. The nearby beaches provided fun-filled days of sun and shingle, and we even ventured to a few local attractions, all within easy reach. The hospitality we received was outstanding. The owners have thought of everything to ensure a comfortable and memorable stay. Their attention to detail and genuine warmth made us feel truly welcome. In conclusion, our stay at The Barn in Devon was a fantastic experience. It provided the perfect setting for a memorable holiday with friends and family, and we left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.   Never have we come back from a self catering cottage so fully rested and relaxed with our batteries fully recharged.

  Wood View Cottage is a little piece of tranquil heaven which, upon arrival, immediately puts you at ease and lets you know you are going to have a wonderful stay and that feeling just gets better with each passing day! We were so sad to be going home and usually we can't wait to get back to our own beds! The cottage is spotlessly clean, spacious and very comfortable. The living room has a choice of a large snuggly corner sofa and occasional chairs which are equally as comfy. The kitchen is huge and so well equipped with literally everything you could possibly need during your stay (even a slow cooker in the cupboard!) and has lots of free cupboard space and worktop space for your things. The beds are the comfiest we have ever stayed in which meant we slept extremely well every night. The swimming pool was wonderful and we used it every day. Having private use of it during the day was fabulous and we had brilliant fun in it. There is a changing room with toilet and shower in the pool room which was very convenient as was having access to the pool room from the hallway of the cottage which we loved. The games room is an absolute gem too - we took our drinks in there of an evening and played pool, darts and ring toss to our hearts content! Things did get quite competitive and by the end of the week our children were regularly beating us at the pool table! The gardens all around the cottage are just beautiful, but especially the huge walled garden with its magnificent and very old pine tree and all of the beautiful and carefully looked after plants, shrubs and flowers. The views are far reaching and spectacular as are the sunrises and sunsets. Finally, Carole and Peter were just lovely - they were very discreet and were happy to just leave us to enjoy our holiday but they were easily available and approachable if we had any questions or wanted to make use of their local knowledge. Thank you for sharing this amazingly quiet and peaceful part of Devon with us. Such lovely people, such a lovely cottage, such a lovely swimming pool, such a lovely games room and such lovely gardens....we cannot wait to come back!.

  Wow, what a beautiful barn conversion. A great place to stay for a large family group. We rented the barn over the Christmas period and everything couldn't have been more perfect. The large open living area on the main floor is absolutely perfect, the kitchen is exceptionally well equipped with all modern appliances and a huge island area which was perfect for sitting around for a chat whilst preparing our dinners. The dining area has a very large table with seating for 8 people and the lounge area has two large comfy sofas and a wood burner for those cosy winter evenings. Up above the kitchen is a beautiful mezzanine floor with seating for those quieter evenings and the addition of windows in the roof allows you to gaze up peacefully at the stars. There is a separate lounge area/snug off of the main living area which also leads you to the staircase to the lower floor where there are 4 beautiful double bedrooms, 2 of which are en-suite. The Master bedroom is truly very special, with the biggest en-suite I have ever seen. Both Joanne and Simon were there to greet us soon after we arrived and answered any questions we had about the barn. They are a lovely couple who clearly have a very good eye for detail and cant thank them enough. All in all I would highly recommend this property for larger family groups who are looking for something with more class than your normal holiday rental property.

  What a fabulous place to stay.

  The property has everything we needed and was in such a peaceful location. The hot tub was the cherry on the cake. The owners were lovely and made us feel so welcome. All the little items provided at the start of our holiday were a lovely touch. There is nothing to fault and I really hope we will be back next year. You get used to the narrow roads and they are worth it for the beautiful location of the property. It was a real wrench to leave and we had such a relaxing time. There are a couple of lovely pubs a few minutes drive away situated on Bow Creek another lovely setting. I recommend The Maltsters Arms for great food and service (Keith Floyd’s old pub). The hosts were so helpful with where to go and what to do and we made the most of the advice. Most places less than 20 miles away and little more than 30 minutes drive. We visited Dartmouth, Totnes, Salcombe, Bantham, East Prawlthorpe, Gara Rock and Hope Cove to name a few. Great coastal walks with stunning views. The Round Robin trip was also a great day out with open top bus from Totnes, Steam Train, Ferry, a stop in Dartmouth and a Dart river cruise back to Totnes. Highly recommended it. A perfect holiday in a perfect property

  Excellent cottage, clean, everything working & in good condition.

  We felt very comfortable there for our holiday. Even on our one very wet day we occupied ourselves with the books, games & a jigsaw ( there was a good choice of everything). Parking at the front of the cottage was fine and close to the entrance door. veiws of the sheep with their lambs, and the countryside from the windows were beautiful. Our only concern was the location, theoretically ideal for access to the south coast, Dartmouth, Plymouth & Totnes areas, but rather alarming to an unconfident driver. The very narrow country lanes, off in every direction from the cottage, meant quite a few miles travelled before any wider road was reached. Hence we restricted travelling to & from the cottage to once a day, ensured we were back before it went dark & were grateful we only had a small car..The owner was very kind, she left us wine, crisps, milk & teabags to start us off & some freshly laid eggs to take home, which were delicious.
