What our customers say about their holidays

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old House.
The property is perfect and, although small, we had everything we needed. It was beautifully clean throughout and the furnishings are very tasteful. The bed is extremely comfortable and the beautiful views from the bedroom and living room windows create a feeling of tranquility. We were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed walking to An Corran Beach and along the bank of the River Stenscholl. Staffin is well equipped with amenities and, as well as making use of Staffin Stores for odd bits of shopping, we visited both the Columba 1400 Cafe and the Hungry Gull, all within easy walking distance of the property. To avoid the potholes and take in the scenery more easily, we made use of the no.57 bus on several occasions with trips to Portree, Uig and Broadford (for Broadford we changed buses at Portree to the citylink service). It was so handy having a bus stop just at the end of the Garafad Road. We hope to return one day- it was a fantastic week and we really loved the property.

We would unreservedly recommend the Old House.
As for Staffin, well we came to like it but we were blessed with good weather. If your idea of Skye is mountainous hills, look further south where travel times would be shorter. The cottage was very comfortable. Yes itâs compact, but all the essentials are there and are pretty much uncompromised by space limitations. The standard and style of decor and fitments would meet the exacting standards of customers of, say, John Lewis or M&S Home. As you get to know the area more you take in the shops and the cafe virtually a stoneâs throw away across a sheep filled field. And you notice the little boards that werenât there the day before, announcing an event. Nearby is some spectacular scenery, eg at Storr or Quiraing, and the Fairy Glen (not the pools which are way down south) aka Hobbitland. If you go when the weatherâs nice, look out for coffee vans and full car parks. But simply considering the Old House itself, we were very comfortable and very happy.

I'd like to express my family's heartfelt compliments following our recent stay at Red Kite Lodge.
My husband, daughter, and I were graced with a delightful week; the lodge itself truly enhanced our trip. Upon arrival, we noted that the lodge was commendably clean and well-maintained, an indicator of the care and diligence that your team exercises. The heating was excellent, furnishing us with cosy evenings in, while the hot tub provided a luxurious and welcomed bonus. Further praise is due to the owner, who exhibited an excellent level of approachability and responsiveness to our queries. It is outstanding to encounter such dedication and swift communication in the hospitality industry. In light of our overall experience, we feel impelled to recommend your establishment enthusiastically to others. Your commitment to quality service is duly appreciated, and we trust others will recognise this too. Thank you once again for providing us with a memorable stay.

The area Crieff and the actual cabin were very nice, well equipped and the owner was very helpful and couldnât do enough for us.
However we were disappointed to find the plot was still a building site with only our cabin occupied. Although this may have worked in our favour as the cabin next to us was very close (especially if you wanted to relax in the hot tub without being over looked). Unfortunately we could only use the hot tub once, as it was slightly off colour with a funny smell. We did follow the instructions on two occasions to add the chemicals but it didnât seem to clear up. The oven and dishwasher tripped whilst we were there and again no fault of the owner as we believe it may have been linked to the ongoing work on site. The owner couldnât have done more to help and was in contact with the site manager throughout to get the problem sorted. I feel the property has good potential but we were a little disappointed with the ongoing work and the hot tub.

An absolute gem of a property.
Exactly what we needed. Very well appointed, nice and clean and warm with very efficient heaters. The bed was heavenly and we slept so well. Loved the views and accessibility to walk to so many beautiful places. It was also so nice to be able to walk to the local shop which also had a fantastic little cafe which served beautifully prepared tasty food. We last came to Skye twenty three years ago and so pleased we were revisiting the beautiful island. Everybody was so friendly and once you get used to dodging the potholes it was a breeze. Hopefully we can return again in the near future. Very many thanks.
