  The cottage was very clean and comfortable and in a lovely position with views up and down the dale. Nice gesture in leaving the tea/coffee bags and biscuits. The parking at the rear was a bit risky having to park very close to the wall and trees to allow other vehicles to pass. There is a parking space directly behind the cottage but this is reserved for a local farm. There is access to the adjoining cottages at the front which we were not aware of and I was surprised to see someone walking their dog past our window one morning. The furniture and fittings were first class but the cottage was somewhat spartan inside and was not home from home as a lot of cottages are. Only one tea towel had been left and we had to buy washing up liquid as only a small tube of washing up liquid had been left. Likewise, we had to buy loo rolls which we have never had to do when renting cottages for over 30 years. There was a smell outside the front of the cottage at times which i believe was coming from the septic tank. Overall, a nice cottage and in the main well equipped, but I feel the owners should consider the little things which guests normally expect when renting.

  Spacious & luxurious. We loved our stay in the cottage - it was very spacious for us - 2 families including 4 kids We found it v. good quality in its furnishings finish etc & the layout was great for our party with the open plan kitchen & living room with the gorgeous view through the large glass d.... Nice big garden on both sides. The master bedroom is special - super spacious with the view & ensuite including the good shower. And three bathrooms!! It was a good base for us to explore many parts of exmoor - in our case mostly beaches from Minehead to Woolacombe. The owners - who live elsewhere- were very helpful. We'd love to return.

  The cottage is well-equipped and very clean and comfortable. The view over the valley to the hills is fantastic and can be enjoyed either from inside the house or in the quiet garden. As mentioned in other reviews the local Punchbowl Inn is within easy walking distance and serves very good food. HOWEVER - vehicle access to the cottage is very difficult. There are 2 main access tracks but these are very narrow and in poor condition with potholes. We understand that some guests have had to call a local garage after dropping into a pothole on the western exit track. We have a large saloon car and found access and parking difficult. Parking in the village is not practicable if luggage or groceries are to be carried. Access will be easier for an SUV but for our family we are unlikely to return despite the superb quality of the cottage.

  Treetops is, in our opinion, a top class holiday accomodation.

  It is well appointed with seemingly no expense spared in its furnishings and equipment. It was very satisfying to find everything we would ever need for our stay, the kitchen is very well equipped as are the bedrooms and their en-suite facilities. Whilst in the accomodation we were entertained by many varieties of birds visiting the two bird feeders situated just outside the lounge window. Treetops is well placed for visiting the many interesting local city, towns and villages, each having their own mixture of upmarket shops and eateries. We were delighted to find a lovely welcome box of local treats waiting for us on arrival. Highly recommended. Angela and Barry Thompson

  We found the property in really clean condition.

  Bag of treats for our dog when we arrived. Never saw the owners which we don't mind either way. So quiet, except for the neighbouring cottage which I suspect is on long term rental, they were rather loud every morning but that has nothing to do with the owners. Eggs on arrival which was a nice touch.we only really use the properties as a base and spend most of the time exploring whichever county we are in. This cottage is excellent value and if we have to stay in the area again we will see if this is available, very good quality furnishings and just really nice touches in the cottages. One of the best we have stayed in through Sykes cottages.
