What our customers say about their holidays

Oakwood 2. Pictures make it seem larger than it actually is so itâs a bit of a shock when you first walk in however it was lovely and clean.
Paper blinds on all windows some of which are ripped and have been for a while according to previous reviews. Would appreciate curtains in main and twin bedroom windows to allow you to open the windows without the bugs or light getting in. Kitchen - utensils need an overhaul , would appreciate silicon spatula as metal fish slice does not get chips off tinfoil or any other food for that matter! (Previous reviews suggested similar) The bottom 2 drawers underneath the hundreds of mugs supplied also needs sorting out. Would be best to have all instruction booklets in a folder rather than in the drawer and sorted out. Lack of storage space for food in the kitchen so had to move all the crockery to the bottom shelf of the cupboard to be able to use the top shelf next to microwave to store stuff. Decking - No seat cushions could be found for the outdoor furniture despite it being in the pictures. The coverings on one of the chairs was all ripped so presume itâs been like that for a while. Living room- Sofa was comfy and found after 4 days we had headrests !! That was a pleasant surprise. Window behind sofa had the lock removed meaning it couldnât be opened. I presume it was either broken or done like that to avoid it being hit from the outside ? Bunkbed room- Compact room with small beds , bottom bunk actually on the floor, 5 drawer chest and slim wardrobe but clock supplied kept beeping so had to take batteries out. Twin room- nicely decorated but no need for additional chair in there other than to hang things on. Slim wardrobe and 5 drawer chest supplied along with mirror Main bedroom- lack of storage. Only got 2 bedside cabinets and a 5 drawer chest. No wardrobe. Appreciate lack of room as small space. Mirror mounted on the wall either needs to be hung portrait or lower down so if sitting in bed to do hair etc you can actually see yourself otherwise everything has to be done standing up. Bathroom- lovely shower but need to supply bath mat as had to use a hand towel on the floor which isnât ideal. Sink is way too shallow and more like trying to wash in a saucer. Heated towel rail has the main switch in master bedroom but this tripped the fuse and blew all the lights in lounge and kitchen. Reported this to Lyme Bay and the state electrician is needed so not to use the towel rail. Things missing - there are no coat hooks anywhere in the property (albeit 2 over the door hooks were provided in the main bedroom after another review suggested the same ) but you canât shut the door with them on so they remained in the floor all the time. Would be worth putting coat hooks on the wall that forms the âhallwayâ which is basically the back wall of the bathroom. There is no indication of the parking space for the lodge til one of the neighbours told us. Might be worth putting a sign out like Oakwood 1 has ?? Over all it was a lovely place to stay and with a few tweaks would be even better. A bit pricey for 7 days but appreciate its peak time. Weâve stayed here before but in a different lodge so have compared it against the other place and despite our first stay only sleeping 4, it was bigger, had 2 bathrooms, lots of storage , welcome pack and was the same price. Owner just needs to ensure damaged blinds are replaced and add in coat hooks, curtains , kitchen utensils and clear out the junk drawers and you will have a lovely cosy stay. Itâs the details that donât cost much but that make all the difference to those who stay.

I spent 10 lovely days at Stonerush Lakes with my husband, the property was beautiful and in a very serene woodland lake setting.
It is very comfortable and a very tranquil place to stay, the sauna and the jacuzzi are an added bonus and easily big enough for 2 people. The only shower in the property is over the bath and this is quite high to climb into and a little slippy, I wouldn't recommend this for old people. the water pressure is very high so be careful when you turn on the taps. The bed is mega comfy and we had no problem sleeping at all. We did use the washer and dryer and the property which is in a cupboard, there is also a hoover, sweeping brush and mop and bucket in the cupboard. The chairs on the balcony of the property We had a little welcome box waiting for us when we arrived with sachets of tea, coffee and sugar, biscuits, black bag, small tube of washing up liquid and a small scourer, also there was a fresh pint of milk in the fridge. This was a very nice welcome gift. There were 2 toilet rolls and a small toiletry bag with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel etc in the bathroom. There were quite a few towels left on the bed. We had visited Morrisons at Liskeard on the way to the lodge and picked up supplies including some cleaning items I am glad I did as the property did not have anything like this. Getting to the property was a little scary because the satnav took us on a single track road with bushes either side, we found out after a few days that there is another way out to the main road turn right when you get out of the gates at the top. This place is literally in the middle of nowhere and the only pub/restaurant onsite is the Old Mill Bar and Restaurant, unfortunately this was closed for the whole time we were there in August firstly we were told this was due to staff shortages then received an email to say it was closed due to covid this was really disappointing because we had tables booked at the restaurant. I ended up cooking most nights as the nearest place to eat out is at least a 15 min car journey. There is no phone signal on site but the wifi is excellent and the Netflix is a great idea. I would not recommend this site to people who have children because there is absolutely nothing for them to do on site. For couples wanting a nice relaxing break I would definitely recommend this property, we had a much needed relaxing break at this property.

Only downside it was a bit of a pain transporting the luggage down to the lodge.
As it was down a gravel path of about a 100 meters. Luckily we had taken a collapsible trolley truck but still has to make 3 trips on arrival and departure. The complex has electric golf type trollies outside reception but presumably for booking made through Whitesand bay holiday park. Ours was privitaley owned but we were offered there luggage trolleys. The view from the Lodge patio deck was amazing looking over Plymouth sound and rolling hills. The only sounds we could hear came from sheep on the hillside, birds and the wind. It was quite breezy for all of our 5 night stay. But welcoming in the hot sunshine. We could not fault the lodge as it had everything one needed for a home away holiday. The owner catered for a pleasant stay with milk tea and coffee in the fridge and cupboards. The park facilities were good with a pub and restaurant. Although as it was early session the pub and restaurant closed at 20:30 during the week. We enjoyed a plentiful lovely Sunday lunch on the patio outside the restaurant. There was a pool opposite but didn't use on this occasion. There wasn't a shop on the park but don't know if there is one in high season. The nearest shop was a few miles away in Millbrook down narrow precarious country lanes. The nearest major supermarket was Sainsbury's in Torpoint about a 20 minute drive also down narrow lanes until you reached wider B roads. I did a major shop there the day after our arrival. So we had enough supplies for a few days. After a day out to Perrenporth we topped up at Tesco Extra in nearby Plymouth. We came back to Cornwall on the Torpoint ferry, not to be missed. There are some wonderful places to visit nearby like Cawsand and Kingsand villages next to each other with charming streets houses an little sandy bays. A visit to Mount Edgcumbe House and gardens is highly recommended. A walk down through the park takes you down to the shores of Plymouth Sound where you can watch the boats and ships sail in and out. Pont Avon departed to Santander while I was there. There's also a foot ferry from there across to Plymouth. An enchanting pub to the left of the lower entrance gates. I can't wait to go back to the lodge to explore beautiful Cornwall Futher!

The bed was comfortable and everything worked as it should.
We stay in a lot of holiday homes and I felt, for the money paid, there was a lack of basic things like washing up accessories e.g. washing up liquid, tea towels, washing up sponge. Luckily we brought our own. I know there was a dishwasher but what a waste of energy putting it on just to wash up a couple of bits and, with just two of us, we would have had to wait all week to fill it up by which time we would have run out of crockery and cutlery. There was also nowhere to drain the cups, glasses etc. The jacuzzi, as someone else has said, had large, black bits floating around every where which was most disconcerting. Asking clients to clean it out after use is a bit daft when you only provided one J Cloth for the whole lodge. Seems strange having a jacuzzi and sauna but non of the basics. Also I am assuming you expect everyone to eat out as there wasn't any baking trays to pop anything into the oven. We didn't want to cook but the odd ready made meal would have been welcome and foil containers don't go with microwaves. Little things but it felt inadequate. For us it was too isolated but that is just personal preference so we would not return. It would have been nice to go for a local walk in the evening but there was nowhere to go. My own fault for not checking but I saw us walking around the lake in the evening but basically unless you drive the only place to walk to is the bar/restaurant. Somewhere to sit and relax on the balcony would be a good idea : you cannot sit and relax in the hardback small bistro chairs provided. What about a couple of comfy lounger type chairs? The Old Mill served excellent food and though the staff were friendly, I don't think I have ever been anywhere where the service has been so slow. We ate there twice and both times we were waiting over half an hour for our starters (the place was empty)

Long but needs to be said What a hidden gem!
There are literally no words to describe how lovely and pleasantly surprised we were with this place. Clean and maintained with updated modern decor, kitchen, and bathroom. Amazing bathtub and shower room! There was a great welcome folder with all the information you needed: local beaches, things to do, places to eat out, etc. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't the biggest of all places. As for 5 people, the seating area did get a little tight, but that did not effect our stay at all! Key fob didn't work to access swimming pool area when we first tried it on arrival, but issue was resolved by lady looking after the place. Great quiet/peaceful resort, lovely and friendly people owners on site too. Great to have an indoor swimming pool accessible for all, plus a laundry area nearby. 2 swings on site for young children to play with, small grass areas around where the kids can run around or kick a ball around without disturbing anyone. Shame we could not make use of the outside seating area as there were covers on seats that looked quite worn out and could do with little maintenance or updating and not sure but could be a wasp problem which may need to be looked at nearby. We had a lot coming through when the door was opened on our stay, but it didn't bother us too much other than scare the kids a little. Great location, in-between Lyme Regis and Seaton. So much to do and see nearby. You would need a car to make travelling easy to and from places, although local transport is available too. If all the holiday homes in Pinewood Retreat are of a similar standard, then this will definitely be our go-to place to stay with family and friends when travelling in this area, without a doubt.
