What our customers say about their holidays
Dr Catchpole - Verified booking
Thank you for making our stay in Mayflower Cottage so comfortable. It was our first visit to Suffolk and I'm sure won't be the last but to have a "Home from Home", so comfortable quiet and relaxing certainly made the holiday. With the comfortable furniture and soft white bath towels it clearly shows that the owner wants to share their home rather than just make money out of rentals. The welcome hamper was generous and thoughtful, as was the fresh cut flowers and flowers in pots in the garden ( I did water them best I could ). We had a lovely week with high temperatures so it was good to come back to somewhere that you could open the windows and doors for a cooling breeze. It really did feel like home. Everywhere we went in Suffolk it was very clean with no rubbish, everybody was very friendly and seemed to be happy. Roads are good and certainly better than what you find in Cornwall. You need to download a variety of parking apps though because few car parks take cash and for some reason can't get together to use only one parking company even though some places have no mobile signal. Aldeburgh is lovely and the beach is visited mostly by locals, I suspect much to their pleasure because it is really nice, clean and covered by tiny pebbles. Here there is very little parking which maybe is why. The Lighthouse restaurant is excellent and would like to visit every night if the menu changed more frequently. Places like Friday Street, although on first look are appealing are really over priced and over hyped with very little local produce and staff who don't know about the origin of the produce. Even M&S can trace produce back to the farm. Or don't they want you to know?

This is our fourth stay at Correggio and I love it. It sits in a wonderful position close to the beach as well as shops (co-op, amazing butcher with organic free range meat, fisherman's hut 50m away for the freshest seafood) making for a very easy holiday. No need to book a Tesco/Waitrose delivery - everything is on the doorstep and it's a pleasure to shop locally! Aldeburgh still has some lovely independent shops - if we don't use them, they'll disappear. Correggio is like no other holiday property I've stayed in - better than home from home in so many ways. One can't help but feel it's a privilege to share this house with the owners even though it's only for a holiday. It's steeped in history. Perhaps worth mentioning, but not as drawbacks, are two points. The property does not have a freezer - not necessary anyway in our view because of proximity of local produce. Parking a car takes a bit of forethought as the area immediately outside (Oakley Square) is a paying car park. There are a few free 2 hour maximum spaces nearby or you can pay for the car park. It's easy enough to unload your car and then abandon it elsewhere. What we do is park in the long stay car park about 10 minutes walk away (at Fort Green) for about £4 a day or at the top of the Town Steps which is unrestricted - running up and down the steps is good for fitness!

This is a gorgeous, well-appointed and extremely cosy cottage. The property has been well-decorated and maintained with some lovely touches, the kitchen has more than enough for a family of four, being very well-stocked and the relaxing corner on the landing upstairs was such a pleasant addition! Our children were thrilled to stay here, they didn't want to leave! We particularly enjoyed having the views of the fields and country landscape, we loved spying horses in the nearby paddock and the local rabbits grazing at dusk in the fields. It was a very welcome short break from city life in the London suburbs. The garden was large enough to have a kick-about but felt safe and enclosed - it was a shame the weather wasn't a bit better as we would have loved to have dinner alfresco and spent a bit more time relaxing on the patio. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay and the location in Snape Watering is close to all the local attractions in this part of Suffolk - Aldeburgh, Snape Maltings, Orford, Woodbridge, Saxmundham etc are all within close driving distance. In conclusion, we'd like to say a big thank you to the Peacocks for a great stay.

We had a great time at The Hollies.
It was well equipped and the kids loved table tennis. The benches at the dining table were a little precarious for the kids (aged 9, 10 and 12) when they tried to pull them closer to the table. One in particular would rock forwards if not careful. A couple of normal chairs would be helpful for ease of use for those of us who are quite arthritic. The round handles on the doors were really tricky to grip and turn for my arthritis - not a complaint, just if we stay there again, I will take some sort of arthritis aid for opening such doors. I would love to see some extra drawer storage in the main bedroom as there were only 3 small drawers and then just hanging space in the wardrobes. Also, the beds are quite high, which is fine, except for the shorties amongst us, itâs a bit of an issue to sit and get socks on, so a chair in each bedroom would be really helpful. The location was great and peaceful. Lovely beaches nearby. Really enjoyed our stay and would consider returning in the future.

A very well equipped apartment catering for all tastes. We knew about the lack of an outside area to enjoy the weather however the grounds were great for dog walking with stunning views over the Blyth valley and the accompanying literature was comprehensive on the regions' places and venues to visit which was ideal for our planning for the duration. For us the Jewel in the Crown was the leisure centre and its online booking system allowing us to exclusively enjoy the 3 differing facilities of a decent sized swimming pool, gym and games room with table football, table tennis and pool table. Our ground floor apartment was very comfortable for we two adults and our dog and having two bedrooms is perfect for a family of four also. The grounds were peaceful, locals friendly and we had our own parking spot. All in all a relaxing and enjoyable break in a well maintained property and complex, thank you.
