What our customers say about their holidays
Jenni-emily - Verified booking
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Sienna Cottage.
It provided a great, comfortable base for our holiday and we would reccommend to others and return ourselves. The sofa was particularly nice, very comfy and the beds and mattresses were comfy too which is great. Its in the perfect location for exploring the English Riviera and South West Coast Path and although is in a busily area inside the cottage is peaceful and quiet. The added benefit of off road parking was welcome, especially due to the road being very narrow and often tricky to navigate due to all the other parked cars and potholes. However we did find that it lacked a few essentials and other things that we would usually expect to find in a cottage of this calibre and price point. Essentials wise, the grill pan was missing its handle which is a H&S issue, there was no hand soap provided in the bathroom or kitchen and no cleaning stuff or bin bags in the kitchen to keep it clean during our stay - we would not usually expect to have to provide these things ourselves. When arriving there was only half a roll of toilet paper in each toilet, quite a measly offering. The cleanliness of the main bathroom could have been better, we found the bath plug hole blocked up with a huge matt of hair and grime which was unpleasant to remove but necessary as the bath wasnt draining properly and the handles on the bathroom drawers were dirty and flaky. The cottage was otherwise very clean and presentable. The heating was set very high and came on by itself during the night and the instructions to operate the temperature were not obvious. The front window in the master bedroom did not shut properly meaning a lot of noise was let in at night. Finally, the welcome book gives no where near enough information on things like refuse/recycling expectations, the state in which you expect us to leave the cottage (where to leave towels & linen ect) it was very very minimal and could really benefit from an update. Additionally, a couple of things that would be appreciated/nice to have and would vastly improve the comfort of a stay at the cottage: Curtains in the bedroom: although the wooden blinds look great, they do not block out any light and also offer no heat or sound insulation. We found ourselves being woken early by the light coming in and often by noises coming through. Curtains would have been very much appreciated and would fix this issue. A shoe rack in the hall would be great, there is space for a good sized one behind the front door and would help to keep the hall tidy during a stay. A key ring on the key would be really helpful, as would a second key. There were times when we really could have done with a second key and this is something that's been available in any other place weve stayed. There was no lock on the gates as is advised on the listing. It would be great if some of these comments could be taken into consideration. Nothing said above is meant as criticism, all just feedback on things that either really do need addressing or would be beneficial to add/improve.

This is a very spacious house with lots of room for all generations of a family and has fantastic views in a good location. The house was very clean apart from the thresholds into the kitchen and downstairs WC which need a better deep clean. There are great facilities in this house with good wifi, tv's everywhere a full equipped utility room with everything needed for a longer stay. The main bedroom on the top floor has a large double bed but I found it very hard, it would benefit from a topper for perfect comfort. There is evidence of wear and tear in some places but nothing to interfere with comfort or use. The second double bedroom had a issue with cold water pressure in the sink. We had a problem with no hot water when we first arrived which was a pain but was fixed very quickly the next day. The agency responded quickly to our needs. There was also an issue with noise on the roof. There was a quick response about this also however seemed connected with the very high winds which are particularly noisy on the top floor in a storm! The kitchen is a great space to cook in but could be better equipped with more guests staying longer. No vegetable knife for example. Furniture is on the whole comfortable but the dining area lacks proper seating. We found the hard bench seating practical but uncomfortable. Parking for one car is very easily accessible but any other parking is an issue and causes a problem within the block. Makes having visitors difficult especially in poor weather or for people with disabilities. Paid parking is down a steep hill. Side road parking is difficult. Our visitor parked in the owners second car parking space outside the garage which is only possible with a very small car. The central heating works well. The house has a lovely outside space with again breath-taking views and would be fabulous in the summer.

A lovely large property with gorgeous views over the harbour and Torquay beyond. 10 Riviera is spread over four floors with three double bedrooms and a single in the lower level, making it perfect for a large family or holidaying with others. The property was well equipped but would benefit from a large frying pan, tongs and blinds in the kitchen (there is a large apartment block next door). It has steps up to the property and lots of stairs inside so not really suitable for someone with mobility issues. The location is a short walk downhill to the harbour, shops, amusements and restaurants. You can walk along the seafront to reach the beach, adventure golf, Torre Abbey and more restaurants. There can be some noise at night from the clubs and pubs below but only if sleeping in the front bedroom (I wasn’t bothered by it but my husband was). There is plenty to do in Torquay with the beach, crabbing in the harbour (kids loved that), shops, restaurants and bars, big wheel, fair, theatre to name a few. Beyond Torquay and a short drive away is Paignton, Brixham and Babbicombe. There are plenty of buses to take you to these places too. We took a boat trip to Brixham, visited the model village at Babbicombe, the water park at Goodrington and spent the day on Paignton beach, all of which I would recommend. We would have done more but only had one week! Paignton and Goodrington sands were definitely the best beaches.

The house was great and ideally situated to visit the local area.
However, in the description it says off road parking for 2 cars. From this, and the photos I assumed I would be able to park on the property. This was basically impossible. The property is situated on a private road / lane. Many residents park in this narrow road which caused a problem when trying to get into the gate. Eventually after much shunting I got my Ford Kuga down the side of the property with minimal clearance each side of the car. However, I could only get the car into the property in reverse due to the difficult access. By reversing all the way to the bottom my passengers could exit the vehicle, but I couldn't. We also couldn't open the hatchback. I had to drive back out of the gate and park outside on the road. Unfortunately the adjacent neighbour had a motorbike and a car parked outside their house and part of our house. I had to park across the gateway. This then made it difficult for the neighbour opposite to exit his drive. So I think the listing description needs to make it clear that parking is outside the property in the lane / road. It in fact does state this in the file of information inside the property. As I've already said though the house was fine. Maybe a more comprehensive information file? The only technical info in there was for the heating.

Our stay at Sunnyhill Mews was very enjoyable and comfortable. We stayed whilst waiting to move to our new home in Torquay. Everything we needed was provided for and we particularly appreciated the quality and quantity of crockery etc in the kitchen. Linen and towels were of good quality and plenty of them which were changed halfway through our stay by the very efficient and helpful housekeepers. The beds were very comfortable and having a TV in the smaller bedroom was a real bonus. The location was superb being in walking distance of the town centre and to the local shops in Wellswood. Should the hills on the walk to town prove too challenging there is an hourly bus service nearby (64). The secure car parking was very welcome and right outside the door. The only improvement that we could suggest would be a shower curtain in the bathroom. We had a lovely stay and would recommend it to anyone for any length of stay as the facilities were so good and location so convenient. The service from Holiday Homes and Cottages could not have been better. Thank you.
