What our customers say about their holidays
Suzanne - Verified booking
We have had a lovely holiday at Piggy Bank cottage, property was clean with modern appliances and the over all standard was to a good quality.
My only criticism is the decor in the lounge is looking a bit tired and dated compared to the rest of the cottage. The electric log burning effect fire looks odd against and fire surround that in my opinion isn't very attractive and not original to the property. The sofa's are comfortable but a little tired looking (please don't be offend this is solely my personal opinion.) We found the main double bed was a little to hard and i couldn't sleep on it. So i ended up in the double bed under the childrens bunk bed which i slept soundly. I understand everyone is different when it it comes to beds so this could be down to personal preference. So I've still rated 5 out of 5 for over all comfort. The bathroom was nice but the toilet seat doesn't seem to fit the toilet properly and it can slip when you sit on it so we we're careful when using it. Having said all the above I would still highly recommend the cottage and would stay again. I would score it 98% out if 100. It had a very cosy warm feel to it which is perfect for us when we've been out hiking fells all day. We found the the shower and bath excellent. A nice morden and extremely clean bath room. The kitchen and facility were excellent to a good standard and very clean. The property overall was extremely clean. Great carpets through out soft under foot. When we hoovered the hoover smelled a bit doggy, We don't have dogs so maybe it was more obvious to us but just wanted to bring it the owners attention. Bedding and towels were great quality and were clean and fresh. Good off street parking with a pretty little court yard and a very short walking distance to shops and pubs. Sedbergh village itself was smaller than we thougt but has everything you need. Powells fruit n veg shop has very fresh and lovely produce. The Dalesman Inn pub was our favourite for eating out and drinks. Nice sandwich shops and coffee shops. Nice Florist and craft makers shops. Farfield Mill is a fantastic place to visit if you like arts and crafts. It was full of craft makers who are happy to share and discuss their creative trades with stunning works of art. Over all we have had a fabulous holiday and would probably stay for 2 weeks next time as we couldn't fit everything in that we wanted to do. I hope I've not offend the owners of this property i just wanted to give my honest opinion in this review and constructive feed back. So to summarise this is a lovely cosy clean and well kept cottage to stay and we recommend it to anyone who loves the Yorkshiredales and wants a good base to stay. Sedbergh itself is a superb location for walker's and this lovely cosy cottage is set in the very scenic location with plenty to do you just need to go out and explore. Thank you piggy bank cottage for a welcoming stay. We shall be back.

We spent a very pleasant week in the cottage in Sedbergh.
Sedbergh is a fantastic base for hill walking with numerous walks starting from the town so no need to use the car, which we appreciated. The cottage was as described, comfortable, well appointed and spotless. The kitchen was well equiped, the wifi excellent and good tv connection. The shower is very good and the towels provided were big and fluffy. A minor annoyance was a faint motor or fan noise coming from the cupboard on the first floor landing. Maybe from the extraction from the bathroom? When we arrived, there was a dog/child gate between the kitchen and the living room. As we didn't want to operate it during our stay and we tripped a few times on it, we removed it for the duration of our stay. It is easily done and we put it back before leaving. Maybe a note about this could be added to the cottage information folder? Once again this is minor and did not distract from our overall enjoyment of the place and we appreciate that those gates might be very useful for guests with dogs and/or small children.

The cottage was very clean and particularly well equipped with cooking equipment.
The kitchen worked very well. It also had a shower mat, which we rarely find, and do need if the shower is over the bath. It did not have any information (apart from relating to the electrical equipment) and, for example, we needed to enquire about the recycling information which varies in different areas. The shower controls had symbols for operating it, and these were difficult to understand - we never did so. The stairs were difficult, as we had been warned in advance, and we found them particularly difficult if we were carrying anything, for example the vacuum cleaner which lived upstairs. The owner was a very helpful and friendly lady. I am sorry that we forgot to write in the Visitors Book which was in a cupboard and we overlooked when we left.

Had a very enjoyable week, Poppy Cottage was good and comfortable.
However I found that the toilet did not flush properly. I mentioned this to the owner Jean before we left. Also the quilt in the single bedroom was not like the one that was on the double bed. It was lumpy, and did not provide for an adequate covering, and needs to be replaced. Overcame this problem by using the throw over on the 2nd night. Please note that this was not a major issue. Nevertheless, that aside, a nice comfortable cottage in a nice quiet location with all the home comforts and facilities. Will definitely recommend to friends and family. ***Owner Response*** We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Poppy Cottage. Thank you for your suggestions, we have now changed the single duvet and sorted the toilet flush out.

We had a lovely break in the New Year at Acorn Cottage.
The owners are very helpful and friendly and gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. The cottage itself is cosy and inviting with the log burner and restful settees in the lounge. The beds are very comfortable and it is so quiet we had great sleeps while we were there. The kitchen is well equipped and we appreciated the food essentials left for our use. The cottage location is good, on a country road heading out of the village and it is possible to walk to the local pub to enjoy a delicious meal. In the summer it would be nice to sit out in the garden and watch the birds and try the walks across the fields. We would definitely recommend.
