What our customers say about their holidays

Overall we liked our stay in Woodloft Cottage and may stay there again in the future.
That said, when we arrived we were unpleasantly surprised by the amount of cobwebs along the ceiling throughout the house and especially in the bathroom. We also found a lot of kitchen utensils in the drawers that were not properly cleaned. Additionally, the ceiling is rather low for two very average Dutch people (approx. 1.81m tall), but this never really posed a serious problem after we got used to it. I did bump my head a few times on the low beams though. The cottage is very cosy and well-furnished. The kitchen and living room are well-equipped and the bed was fine. We did occasionally hear some noise from upstairs as others have pointed out, but this was comparable to the noise we sometimes hear from our upstairs neighbour in our own flat. Perhaps previous guests had the misfortune of having very noisy upstairs neighbours or the privilege of not living in a flat. All in all, we liked our stay in Woodloft Cottage and would recommend it to others.

Hi Sykes. Hazel, owner was very very nice and most helpful.
Very new to letting out and lives in Bristol. As needed to call her and explained we were old hat at cottages and Cornwall over the years and Uplyme back in April which was a bit of a disaster to say the least. Too ill to give report back then!!.Husband very ill and on end of life treatment. Me his carer and only got out 2days while at Fern Leigh heights. Weather awful and I managed to pick up two tics while there. Possible long grass on verges as he is driver. However a very nice chat and suggested several things that needed attention!! She thanked me very much and would arrange sorting suggestions. One thing needs to be made CLEAR The Let Is NOT SUITABLE FOR DISABLED Wheelchair people or severe walking disability whatever age!!!You can not park near to property although you can park free in selected parking area with one car. Stony, slippery slope, quite steep at beginning but levels out three properties along. Please advise for further lettings!!!

We had a wonderful stay at The Lodge, from arrival it felt like a home from home.
The layout of the ground floor is excellent and we made the most of the amazing views from both the conservatory to the front, and orangery to the rear. We were fortunate to have had a sunny and hot week, so the bifold windows in the orangery were always open in an evening. Just the sounds of sheep and birds it was bliss. The property is extremely comfortable and thoughtfully furnished. A couple of niggles which let it down slightly - on arrival the kitchen (orangery) floor had not been swept, and there were crumbs over the worktops. It didn't take long for us to rectify this, but it would have been nice not to have needed to. Also, the front garden was in some need of maintenance, the grass desperately needed cutting and the flowers were struggling through the weeds. Elsdon is a great spot for exploring and The Lodge is ideally situated. We can't wait to visit again next year.

We experienced problems with water pressure.
.when we turned on taps the noise was tremendous..and lasted almost length of shower..pressure needs to be sorted..plus more lights needed at this time of year..I have owned a Cotswold cottage so the charm of them is a bonus, but not in the winter when especially in the bedroom I used a torch to check floor space ! Courtesy light did not work properly,so again torch necessary to get to car..however bed was comfy, but bed linen left a lot to be desired, just a quick iron would have been beneficial! We were however grateful to have been left an extra duvet..as it was chilly..the ac units, weâre fine but , your feet froze whilst top half was toasty !l Lovely gesture of treats, blanket, etc for our third family member, she was delighted, especially as we were all on one level, and we could hear her snoring all night

Great pied-Ã -terre for a couple - we spent a week exploring, planning to move to the area for retirement in 2025.
Good: price, included energy, simple but sufficient cooking facilities. Very comfortable bed. To improve: the bedroom corner with the mirror is so dark, making it impossible for a lady to do hair and make-up. Easily solved with some white paint and a vanity light strip from Ikea. The pans and plates and cutlery had traces of food on them. We washed all we used thoroughly, before and after use, but did not wash items that we did not use. The shared parking space is problematic - the tenants of the other cottage need to be made aware of the arrangement. We came back to find a vehicle parked rather inconsiderately in the middle of the 2 bays. Many people would realise the need to park carefully to allow others to use the adjacent space, but clearly some need it explaining in simple terms.
