  We have just enjoyed a very relaxing week at Bishops Castle Barn.

  The Barn is accessed along a single track road then down a private, steep track but its location allows you to enjoy some stunning views in splendid isolation and all less than a mile Bishops Castle. The facilities are excellent from the high spec gadgets in the Barn to the sole use of the excellent large hot tub. The owners of the Barn make you feel very welcome and are on hand if you need them otherwise, your privacy is respected at all times. The setting really is beautiful with far reaching uninterrupted views on your doorstep and from a cleverly framed kitchen window. It almost makes washing the dishes a pleasure! (Although there is a dishwasher too). If you don't fancy driving, there are public footpaths nearby including one into Bishop's Castle itself where The Castle Hotel (and on a sunny day, its garden) and Three Tuns Pub are especially worth a visit. A little more outdoor space that wasn't shared with the sheep would have been nice but there is a lovely decking area by the hot tub and we very quickly felt relaxed and at home which is not something you can always say after a few days away!   The venue is perfection.

  Location is peaceful and relaxing. Layout is perfect, bedrooms downstairs, living area upstairs results in spectacular views enjoyed throughout. Decoration is modern yet still relaxing and comfortable. The bathrooms are state of the art, love the rain showers. The bedroom on ground floor has a lovely knigsized bed, so comfortable. We have slept so well here. Not used the bedroom on lower floor. Star gazing is wonderful, no light pollution. The hot tub has been a real treat. The venue is in the middle of beautiful countryside located via a rural road. Yet only a few minutes from Bishops Castle village. Walks are from the doorstep. We are using the venue to sight see in general and visit more National Trust houses. The surrounding countryside is outstanding whatever direction you travel. There are DVDs, books, games and a drawer full of local information. We are really enjoying our relaxing, recharging time here.

  The cottage itself is very lovely.

  Is well equipped for everything you'd need for your week away. There's a welcome chalkboard with all the relevant information you'd need, however unlike 99% of Sykes Cottages there isn't a welcome pack ( ie tea, coffee or milk ) It's an incredibly easy place to keep clean if you take your four legged friend with and walks a plenty just up the road. However visitors should be aware you can't let your dog off a lead when in the 'garden' part of the property. So if you were to visit in the warmer months and wanted to sit out this is something to have in mind. Think it might be an easy fix on the owners behalf by putting gates at the entrances. We unfortunately didn't get a chance to meet Kate on our visit but she was more than helpful on the phone before we arrived and had we had any problems I wouldn't have hesitated in giving her a call and asking her help. Would recommend.

  Absolutely fantastic place, gorgeous panoramic views from the top of the hill and amazing views from the lodge and hot tub.

  Welcoming, helpful owners, activities such as quad tracking, paint balling and archery to enjoy and keep the family entertained, great landscapes to explore, clean, fully equipped and beautifully furnished to a high standard. Shops, supermarkets and restaurants easily accessible by car, along with lots of attractions to visit close by. We absolutely loved our stay! We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub, kids enjoyed playing football with the owners dog Skye and exploring the landscapes, we visited the British Ironworks Centre, Powys castle and Attingham Park, all worth a visit for a lovely day out. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners, the kids had a great time toasting marshmallows on the fire pit and just enjoying their freedom outdoors in a safe and peaceful environment ❤️ Thanks again so much Nicky and Mike! Can’t wait for next time

  Upon arrival fo the property we were greated by the owner and her lovely doggos.

  The owner is very friendly, helpful, kind and happy to point you to the beautiful local spots! We had everything we needed there, but obviously bring your own food! Although, there's plenty of eggs! The owner was thoughtful enough to put shower gels, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, cleaning supplies, towels, a hairdryer and even extra fluffy blankets for those cosy nights in, out for us. The local scenery is so beyond beautiful too. My fiance and I were the first people to stay at the property that aren't friends / family of the owners, and we certainly will not be the last. Beyond happy with our experience, this is the best holiday we've had in a while. Will definitely return. Thank you for having us guys, and thank you for giving us such an amazing time.
