What our customers say about their holidays

We had a lovely stay at this house .
The house is on a new development which is not yet finished and on week days works starts at 8 . We were not disrupted particularly, but it must be noted that the development isnt yet finished and further houses are to be built . Itâs definitely something to be aware of as the only access is past the front of the house . The house is also more than a 10 minute walk into the centre . Again not a problem , but it should be noted . Itâs realistically a 15-20 walk . The area is beautiful, the beaches are beautiful. The village has limited restaurants. Only one really , the Sea Shanty , which is lovely. Another is opening in September. There is a Chinese takeaway as well , and 2 small village shops . The house was very comfortable. The beds were comfortable, and the bedrooms were quite large . Whilst there are beds for 8 people the lounge absolutely could not take 8 , if you were at capacity, 4 comfortably and 6 at a squeeze . There is room in the kitchen downstairs for 8 around the table which is great . The kitchen space area is great , with big patio doors onto a small garden . We had a dog with us so this is great for a dog . The kitchen itself was fairly well equipped , but some of the equipment was very cheap quality , such as the knives and forks and the other utensils, and I felt this let it down . Some basic items not available such a a pizza cutter . There are very basic condiments left such as salt and pepper and oil , but nothing else . I would definitely stay here again , but check on the building works first . Itâs been done by a small firm of builders , so the new houses will not be finished anytime soon ,

Mimi and Charles were charming and gave us some useful information about the 14th century mill, itâs history, and the facilities.
The welcome pack was one of the best weâd ever had. The property was huge and easily accommodated 8 of us. The bedding, and beds are top quality and assured a great nights sleep, although âone up, all upâ seems to be the default position due to the click/latch doors and creaky floorboards! The living room is spacious and has big comfy sofas, in which to relax the evening away. The kitchen was well appointed and marvellously stocked with everything needed to cook for up to 12 hungry residents. A great deal of thought had obviously gone into that, any many other aspects of our stay. Some minor criticisms were the lighting throughout Felin, which are disjointed and quite dated, however a complete electrical refit would be an extortionate expense, so we put it down to the age of this grand old lady. The massive marble table was more than big enough for a full house, however the cushion pads on the dining chairs were flaking and looked somewhat shabby, but that could be easily remedied. The outside space is delightful, the side, walled patio overlooking the mini-harbour and the Menai Straits is enchanting. There was a private car park for the property, directly across from Felin, and as there was very little traffic down the long unmade track, it felt very secure. All in all, a beautiful property in a staggering location, ideally placed for the North Wales mainland and the amazing island of Anglesey.

Plas Newydd is a beautiful house and we all had a great weekend here.
However, the listing shows 8 bathrooms, 6 of which are en-suite, but in fact there are only 7 bathrooms and one WC. There were 4 single ladies in our party and it would have meant them all having to share one bathroom while all the couples had their own. For this reason, we also had to rent The Lodge at nearby Plas Caravan Park to accommodate us all comfortably. The people staying in The Lodge joined us to eat and spend the evenings, then had to walk back - admittedly only a five minute walk but in the pitch dark. The two bedrooms with bay windows were beautiful and spacious. Most of the others were on the small side and some had no wardrobes and nowhere to hang clothes. We were unable to get the dishwasher in the main kitchen on the first floor to work and we were therefore having to carry dishes down to the ground floor kitchen, involving several journeys, given the number of us eating there. We were a group of friends in our 60s and 70s. I am sure that families staying at Plas Newydd would find it easier to overcome the few difficulties that we had. Having said all that, we all had a good time and the problems were not insurmountable.

Hi we really enjoyed the stay, the location is great.
As a family we always go away for the New Year, weâve stayed in over 15 properties. Im not one for complaining, Iâll just offer an honest assessment of my stay. In comparison to others weâve stayed in, the property was dirty. The fridge in the utility room had gone off milk in it and smelled. Our bedding was damp, the kids bedroom upstairs bedding wasnât changed. It had someone elseâs hair on the pillow. First aid kit was out of date, dishwasher and washing machine doors were broken. Rooms are damp, with mould spores on the walls. TV is poor quality, batteries flat in the remote. We had to plug in a laptop to watch Netflix. Outdoor lighting isnât great. Being totally honest, it didnât feel like itâs been cleaned properly for a long time. Could be made allot nicer and more welcoming for customers. Itâs not a cheap holiday, so youâd expect the basics to be allot better. It needs upgrading if youâre wanting to charge a premium for it. Thanks

We were lucky to meet the charming and very helpful owners on arrival.
They guided us through the quirks of the old mill. The house is perfect for a family holiday with plenty of scope for children, social spaces outside and inside for all and good cooking facilities for a hungry hoard. The local Co-Op, a couple of minutes away, supplied most of our needs and Bangor, just over the bridge, has more exotic food stores. There is plenty of private parking next to a safe grassed area with a high wall, ideal for football practice. We brought a small dinghy which needed warping up and down the drying harbour to remain accessible at all states of the tide. Local walks along the straits have plenty to explore and access to the rest of the island is easy. A great holiday. One mystery remained at the end. A couple of lights we couldn't switch off despite the numerous switches.
