What our customers say about their holidays

We stayed here as a family of three and what a beautiful place to stay!
Ideal for exploring the surrounding areas. We visited Thornton-Le-Dale, Scarborough and Robin Hoodâs Bay while we were there. We also went to Alpamare water park when we were there which was only a 5/10 minute drive and brilliant for families! It was great to come back to the lodge after a busy day and relax in the hot tub, with the most beautiful and tranquil views. The lodge was clean and beautifully decorated, the sofa and bed was comfortable. I would say it is probably better suited to couples that eat out most of the time though. There were a few things people should be aware of. There was a wedding on the Friday and Saturday night when we were there. The music was loud until midnight and then you could hear people talking and waiting for taxis outside after this. However, the music didnât bother us at all. It was a wedding after all and it was quite fun joining in doing the Macarena whilst sitting in the hot tub. We even made a hedge friend on the Saturday night when someone started whistling and talking to us from the other side of the hedge, which we found hilarious! The kitchen is stocked with the very basics and only four of everything (and only three bowels). There is no freezer, which we found hard, and we found it wouldâve suited us better to have a freezer rather than a dishwasher. Although, the staff were so friendly and we were given ice a couple of times when we were unable to get some from the shop, which was very kind. It wouldâve also been handy to have a door mat at the back door too, especially when youâre coming back in from the hot tub. We used one of our towels on the floor to prevent slipping. There were so many flies, but thatâs to be expected on a farm. The shower wasnât very powerful and more storage wouldâve been great too! The butchers and tea room on site are both brilliant and the staff are fantastic! We can highly recommend the family breakfast and BBQ packs from the butchers and the sandwiches and ploughmanâs lunch from the tea room was delicious too. Overall, there were a few things mentioned above that couldâve be tweaked to make our experience even better. However, that view, that stunning view, made up for everything! We would definitely like to return in the future and would definitely recommend it as a fantastic place to stay and explore.

We enjoyed our stay at July cottage, despite some cleanliness issues which we have raised with the owner separately. The location in the village is lovely, on a very sweet pedestrianised lane, and the village itself is about 20mins from Saunton, Woolacombe and Ilfracombe, using narrow country roads mostly. The space is well organised and decorated, and we had most things we needed for our stay. It's worth taking extra logs for the fire - we stayed at the end of summer when days were around 18° and the cottage was chilly at night, probably because it has very thick walls, so we needed the heat of the fire. Accessibility notes as someone who has mobility issues with a knee injury - there are steps between the main bedroom and bathroom once you're upstairs. The shower screen opens outwards into the bathroom to allow more space to climb in and out of the bath. A non-slip bath mat is provided. There are a couple of types of cobbles on the wall from the car park to cottage, and the ground is generally uneven. I found these cobbles slippery in wet weather. If you arrive on the dark, make sure you have a torch to walk to the cottage. If you're planning to use the second bedroom as an adult be aware it's a small single bed very low to the ground and isn't particularly comfortable. We would consider returning if assurances were made about the cleanliness issues we've raised.

Beautiful cottage with amazing scenery, Great location and the tea rooms next door provided really lovely food - we had a wonderful roast lunch and the breakfasts were very tasty.
Staff were lovely. Butchers across the courtyard was handy for food and the bbq pack was good value. Some minor points: Cottage wasnât 100% clean when we arrived as the floors felt dirty on our feet and the sofas and footstool in need of a good clean - really comfy but looking quite stained. Cushions quite prickly due to feathers poking out. Kitchen ideally needs a freezer and bigger fridge as well as more worktop space to make it more usable as staying for a week we struggled for buying meals to keep us going as nowhere to store them and also needed more cooking space. Pint glasses would also be useful too for larger drinks as the ones provided were quite small. Farm is located on a road so traffic is noticeable and farm was noisy at times throughout the night. Welcome pack could do with more information about what to do in the area and also provide instructions on check out as we didnât know what to do about keys and bins etc but otherwise an absolutely beautiful place and would be happy to stay again one day.

Cottage was lovely, cosy and comfy.
I just felt it was lacking extra towels for the hot tub only having 2 for a week and sharing it with hot tub and shower especially when you have shower before hot tub and after, no robes or outside shoes again most I have visited supply these as walking through the property with wet feet. Lack of kitchen supplies, no welcome hamper which again first time I have had nothing, milk or bread would of been nice to keep us going. No spare bin bags and no instructions on where to place rubbish, only one bin outside but 2 recyclable inside? No hand soap in the bathroom but moisturiser? Upstairs remote blinds batteries not working in the remote control. 2 other controls on the fireside but nothing to say for what? Fire mentioned in description on Sykes info but no fire.

We love this lodge!
Our second time staying and a perfect base. The hot tub views across the farm are beautiful and the property is set up in such a way it feel spacious in summer especially with the doors open into the outside area, but is also super cosy when the sun goes down and in the colder months (our previous stay was October) the buzz of activity on the farm and in the butchers across the yard is lovely but you wouldnât know it is there when your in the very private garden and hot tub. Youâre in a very short drive of all the activities in Scarborough. We especially enjoyed Alpamere water park and a day in York but ventured out most nights to eat. We will be back again without doubt!
