What our customers say about their holidays
Janet - Verified booking
We hadnât thought about a holiday in this area of the U.
K. and usually go camping at this time of year. Most places were reported to be very busy this year due to COVID 19 restrictions, so we booked this cottage. The cottage itself was very comfortable and clean and Lorraine, the owner was very welcoming and we were not disappointed. The cottage is ideal for couples. There is a shared courtyard and garden which has the sun all day and is very tranquil. We brought our bicycles and were able to park them undercover in the covered barn. We did not use the car at all during our stay and thoroughly explored the Vale of Glamorgan, the country single track lanes were very quiet and ideal for cycling. We visited Cowbridge and the Physic garden with medicinal plants from the 18th century, Llantwit Major and itâs dramatic beach. We travelled along the coastline to St Donatâs past Atlantic College where the likes of Charlie Chaplin and John F Kennedy stayed, visited Dunraven Castle, Ogmore by Sea (a peaceful spot when we visited, but made headlines due to a mass brawl post-Lockdown), Ogmore Castle, Ewenny Priory, Merthyr Mawr Warren, which is a beautiful natural area and climbed the Big Dipper (the second largest sandune in Europe), Porthkerry Country Park, Barry and Barry Island (the day before the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge). The closest beach is Monknash, a rocky beach with a footpath and a walk to get down to it, but it is well worth the effort. We also enjoyed watching the kart racing at Llandow Circuit nearby. Had we have been there longer, we would have perhaps visited Cardiff and Penarth. It was lovely to return to the cottage after a busy day sightseeing. The only downside for us was a slightly unstable internet connection and poor phone signal at times, but it didnât spoil our enjoyment.

This cottage has the potential to be exceptional.
It's very dark and cosy, which for December was great. It's tucked away without a drive, but we found the on road parking to be absolutely fine. We really enjoyed reading about the property's history, which was included as part of the welcome information. We appreciated the firewood for the first fire, and the sparkling wine in the fridge was a nice touch. There is a well stocked Spar down the road, and it is very close to some stunning beach walks. Communication with the owner was great when we couldn't find the immersion switch for the hot water - friendly and very helpful. If you are considering this cottage, though, know that you will need to bring *everything* with you. There was one toilet roll, one tea towel, one bin liner for the small kitchen bin, no hand soap, no hair dryer (not great to discover that right before a brisk beach walk in December!), no heater in either of the bedrooms. The single tea towel quickly became smelly because there is no central heating so therefore no radiator to dry it on. Many holiday lets we have stayed in have everything you need to make it a home from home - this isn't one of those properties, so just bear that in mind. Finally, for dog owners: the garden is not connected to the cottage. It is totally separate, so letting your dog out for a wee before bed or in the middle of the night isn't an option - you'll need to put their lead on and take them out. Overall a very cosy cottage full of character and history, it just needs a bit more attention to detail.

We had an amazing time at Ty Coch!
This was our first time in Wales and it was better than we could have imagined. Ty Coch was a beautiful base to explore - the views and location were excellent, the silence around is wonderful and just what we wanted, the hot tub was well worth the learning curve of lighting a wood-burner it and the facilities inside were lovely, too - a super comfy bed is just what you need after all that walking! If you arenât confident with wood-burning fires (for the hot tub) then contact the owners who were more than willing to come help! In fact - they were great all the way through our stay! Checking in that everything was okay the first night, sorting a dripping noise (a water filter) very quickly and helping us light the fire were just a few things they did to help out and make us feel at home! Also, when we arrived we were greeted by a cold bottle of Prosecco and a bar of chocolate! A really lovely surprise which was very much enjoyed and appreciated. Thanks so much for making our first time in Wales such a special one! We will definitely be back and thoroughly recommend to anyone who enjoys being secluded somewhere beautiful to relax.

Spectacular views on a sunny day, very very peaceful and secluded.
Hot tub is a great, does take a lot of wood and time to heat up but weâll worth it for relaxing in after a day of walking. The barn is small and compact but has been made comfortable and cosy. More glasses and mugs rather than just 2 and a bit more cutlery would have been better as even though itâs for 2 people, you donât want to have to wash up or put the dishwasher on after breakfast in order to have things to use at dinner time - we were eating in a lot to save money. The water supply to the bathroom is a bit annoying, very slow and the shower is intermittent , boiling, freezing or okay !! But all part of the adventure in the hills. Nice little touches like remote candles , soft fluffy towels and extra towels, plenty of tea towels and oven gloves the robes and slippers were very appreciated. Comfortable out door furniture, perfect for a day relaxing enjoying the spectacular views. Nice bottle of Asti left for arrival. All in all a great place for a peaceful cosy retreat in a beautiful part of Wales the photos of the views donât do them justice you need to be there.

We have had a fab week in this lovely barn conversion.
We loved every minute. The views were to die for and as the weather was particularly good all week we had sea views all day every day. Iâve listed what you get and itâs long! Superb views and exellent beaches nearby Lots of fab kitchen appliances Peaceful location Cracking hot tub with views!! Everything well equiped Outside blankets heaven when windy in the mornings Picnic set for outside All garden furniture brill in each area Fridge with big freezer compartment fab for our dog food! Comfy bed, loved it Lovely fluffy towels Nice touch with dressing gowns and slippers (Many thanks for prosecco too) Plenty big enough for 2 plus dog I really could go on. Owen was easy to get hold of for any questions we had and we had a ready supply of chopped wood for hot tub as we used it every day. Looking at those views whilst in there with a glass of bubbles was heaven. Highly recommend this place for a peaceful little get away to re charge your batteries.
