What our customers say about their holidays

  • Adrian - Verified booking

First the positives: The bed in this lodge is the best quality holiday bed I have ever slept in.

So comfy and bed linin fresh and good quality fabrics. kitchen spacious and everything you will need utensils wise Cinema room as described and good to sit and watch films in. Food at the restaurant was lovely and staff friendly. Lovely area to be in and easy to get about to visit different places, coming back to a lovely setting. Unfortunately a few negatives to this property: The decked patio area and table and chairs were very dirty and the flooring and glass clearly hadn't been cleaned for a long time. The furniture is clearly old and weathered and needs replacing. The sofa in the living room area is VERY squishy so if you have a bad back or have trouble getting out of a seated position this is not the sofa for you. We too - as mentioned a number of times previously, did not get bath robes. I felt too there should have been a 2nd set of towels for the hot tub and sauna, but these were not supplied. In fairness to the team we didn't report this and I am sure if we did we would have been sent some, but that misses the point. Also the towels supplied were very thin and ripped, again in need of replacing due to age. Not luxury as advertised. The design of the window in the hot tub area means you can not have the window open and be private, so it got very hot and unpleasant when using the hot tub, if we were to return we would book an outside hot tub in future. We had assumed we would be able to watch DVDs - so just be aware that is not the case, and as mentioned again in other reviews the Living room TV /or/ remote is not functioning properly, so the TV is very very slow to change channels etc if it worked at all.

Bad points: The kitchen cupboards and freezer were all dirty with either dust or liquid marks.

The kitchen floor wasn’t cleaned in the grooves of the cupboards meaning we had to vacuum when we arrived and what seemed to be a coffee drip mark was left on the floor. The place mats were reversible one side was cleaned the other covered in left over food. The kitchen sides although not visible Needed wiped as there was left over liquid /food upon feeling. The microwave has a line of dried food at the back. No one on site when we arrived as it was Sunday so sorted this ourselves. Funny times for the bar and reception to open not at all on Sunday and from 5 on a Wednesday not practical if you arrive on a Sunday with any issues. The bed and sofa have served their time to the extent they both dip in the middle and should really be replaced. Small matter of a previous stain not removed on bedroom floor carpet and a sweet wrapper being left in the cinema room. The good bits: Lovely location. So remote you don’t get phone signal but full Wi-Fi if you want to stay in touch with the world. Your not over looked. Sauna, shower and jacuzzi bath all amazing and relaxing. Come in a room lights were perfect. Good from the restaurant was very nice. Staff when there were friendly. Other than the kitchen and the sweet wrapper the lodge was clean. Very spacious and relaxing. Has a vacuum and a sponge for you to clean if it’s left unclean. Lovely location and lodge just a shame the cleanliness let it down and there was no one available to speak with as the reception has strange hours.

Palm Lodge is in a lovely location and has the potential to be really something.

However, the lodge has now reached the stage of needing some TLC and renovation. It was very damp even when using the dehumidifier provided. The bedroom and bathroom doors were sticking and unable to close properly. Several of the windows were difficult to open and close due to the affects of the skin of the structure being damp. Even our clothes in the bedroom drawers and wardrobe were feeling damp after a couple of days. There was mildew on the shower head and in the grooves of the shower doors and walls. The bathroom is in desperate need of a regular size sink with proper running hot and cold water (no timer tap for cold / no small side boiler for hot - this gave lukewarm water at best and sometimes there was no pressure and nothing came out - not good when you're wanting to wash your hands after having been to the toilet particularly) Fridge needs looking at - didn't feel like it was holding the temperature and we lost freshly bought food and milk within a couple of days. Lounge area ceiling is in need of repair - looked like it had had a previous leak and with the rain we had we were constantly worried that this was going to happen again with a very obvious visible split in the ceiling. Unfortunately we came away feeling very disappointed and that we'd paid way too much.

We had a lovely 10days as a family of 4 and a dog.

The waters edge gave us beautiful views over the lake and the hot tub was a relaxing treat at the end of the day. The property had everything we needed and was very clean. Only issue was the broken off slats on the blind in the en-suite bathroom which we managed to cover for privacy so not a major problem. Nicely decorated throughout and the beds were very comfy. The road in was not for the faint hearted and the corners on such a narrow road could cause incidents if drivers don’t take extreme caution and also us the small junction correctly which some didn’t. The site was very well maintained and beautiful to walk around. The restaurant and bar served very good food and staff were very welcoming. Supermarket was 20 min away and we spent most days driving out to explore the stunning coastline and beautiful towns. This was are first experience of a Cornwall holidays and Over all it was well worth it.

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful weeks holiday staying at Palm Lodge.

Praa sands 14/8/20-21/8/20. Firstly we want to say a big thank you to Andrea for making our stay just perfect, what a lovely welcome a bottle of bucks fizz , scones jam and clotted cornish cream, cornish biscuits and a vase of flowers. Palm lodge surpassed our expectations it has every thing you could've possibly wanted. It's spacious comfortable well equipped kitchen immaculately clean throughout and even has a BBQ and sun loungers on the decking. It was such a wonderful relief to finally get away after months of lockdown and to have a bit of normality in our lives. And palm lodge was just what we needed It is a ideal place to stay for a couple. and is close to the beach and perfect base to explore Cornwalls beautiful beaches quaint fishing villages We highly recommend palm lodge and will certainly be returning again ourselves in the near future.
