What our customers say about their holidays
Ms Thornbury - Verified booking
Oystershell cottage is in a fabulous location, with outstanding views from the front of the property and the vertiginous terraced garden. It was very clean and comfortable, and felt like a home. The kitchen is a little rustic but has all you need to prepare a meal. The appliances - including the full size dishwasher - were all like new and worked perfectly. Also the utility room was great for storing gear. There were some very thoughtful touches like a crab net and bucket, a bbq and ample garden furniture. The garden is slightly wild but pretty, with a lovely deck and summer house at the top, and benefits from the sun for the most part of the day. Although the cottage is on the main road to the ferry, there wasn’t much traffic and it was very quiet in the evenings - we could hear the owls hooting in the woods on the other side of the creek. Kingswear itself is attractive with good walks from the village and easy, frequent access to Dartmouth on the ferry. Overall a great place to stay.

The property is within walking distance of the town centre and beach although like most houses in Lyme it does mean you have to navigate a hill.
The property is easily accessible as it is on the main road to Uplyme There are two car park spaces and charging facility The property it self features an upstairs lounge area and massive kitchen adjoining. With in the kitchen area there is a large dining table and sofa as well as a well equipped kitchen with all modern appliances and of that a utility space with washer etc The three bedrooms are all well equipped with high quality showers in all of the 3 bedrooms This property was really lovely both because of the modern and light living space and cleanliness. Off the lounge area a raised patio gives you a pleasant place after a busy day. We would recommend the property and look forward to returning again One thing to consider is that care would be required if young kids are part of your group as the garden is steep and can accessed from the upper patio

Albert Cottage is in a great location, less than 5 minutes walk from the Market Place but also very quiet. It's a very pretty, double-fronted flint-faced cottage which has nicely decorated, good-sized rooms. It's also full of light, which we liked very much. The stairs are quite steep, with a narrow tread so they have to be negotiated with care, but there are wooden hand rails on each side. Overall, we liked the cottage very much. However, a significant drawback for us was the parking situation. There is one dedicated parking space in a niche beside the kitchen. We read the information about the size of the space and the importance of not blocking the shared driveway before booking. As we have a smail car (in the 'supermini' class) we thought it would be fine but getting in and out of the space was tricky with not a lot of room for manoeuvre.

We had at a lovely holiday at this fabulous cottage. It is very well equiped if you want to stay in & cook and positioned within easy walking distance of pubs, cafe's & restaurants in both Kingswear and Dartmouth. Beautifully furnished with a lovely log burner making for a cosy night on a chilly evening. The view from the lounge & upper deck has spectaluar views over the River Dart and we never tired of watching the steam train and boats go by! It was lovely to sit on the front terrace with a glass of wine early evening before it got to cold and then light to fire inside for a cosy evening. The cottage is positioned really well, for getting the Ferry over to Dartmouth or the bus to Brixham or Paignton, lovely to be able to leave the car parked up for a week. We will definetly be back.

Positive: Beautiful, well equipped house, modern interior.
Living room and kitchen upstairs, so the sea was visible in the distance. Nice outdoor space / garden which we couldn't use due to weather. Negative: Not a quiet location as house is right next to main road leading into Lyme Regis. So a lot of car traffic and noise way into the night, specially at the weekend and rush hour times. Opposite, on other side of road was a commercial timber company and a medical centre, so not really a holiday impression. Pillows very high and firm, no other choice (had fortunately my own with me). Waste collection confusing, no separation of recycle, glass etc.and normal waste. Should all go in same bag. So we took our recycle waste with us back home. Would we stay there again? Sorry to say, no
