What our customers say about their holidays

My wife and I with our 2 kids (12,14) and our new 7month old mini sausage dog booked Shepherds Rest for 7 nights.
Words cannot describe the perfection of the place Carol and Dave have created. set up high on the 35 acres of land they have are 3 amazing lodges stealing blistering views of the welsh countryside. Carol called the day before we came to discuss our arrival and what to expect. We chatted as friends immediately, finding common ground in both owning a mini sausage dog each. (they played together all week, it was so fun to see them running across the huge perfectly manicured lodge garden) . Meg the sheep dog visited regularly also and became part of daily routine!. Carol and Dave are magnificent hosts, tending to all your needs, info on places to go and things to do were plenty. So many "little things" Carol and Dave do all help to a wonderful stay. Its very clear once you get there you haven't booked a lodge for the week, you have booked an experience that they have worked tirelessly to create for their guests. The kids enjoyed going down the hill to the hens to collect fresh eggs in the morning. playing with meg, mini, mia, the dogs. The views at night sitting in the hot tub with a glass of wine, the fully kitted out kitchen, the walk in shower, the stand alone bath, I could go on and on. We will never forget this family holiday and I can not recommend it enough. we intend on returning as a larger group with more of my family to capture this amazing place once again. Hats off to Carol and Dave for their little piece of paradise. And thank you once again for a perfect stay at Shepherds Rest

Myself and my husband went for a short break.
The accommodation had everything you need for this. Lots of cooking equipment but no instructions how to use any of it ( we did not use anyway). We took teatowels, soap, shampoo, etc but, this is all provided, even though not listed on itinerary. The description of the accommodation was accurate but nothing to say about steep climb up from road if you are walking. The area itself is beautiful, green an lush, went on some lovely walks but again, a lot of ascending inclines. The farm has a menagerie of animals who all come to say hello, particularly Sylvie the cat and mabel, a new foundland, both indulging in having a fuss. Ceri is lovely, willing to help with anything and full of information about the area. We purchased pork pies from her which were amazing- we bought some home too, along with some goat burgers. Could do with a list of produce and prices left in accommodation as they do not have an actual shop. Tha accommodation is quite compact but enough for 2 people. The shower room/ toilet is right next to bed and you cannot open door properly to get into it. We reported the outside lights not working which Ceri came to look at same morning. The hot tub we only managed to use once because of weather, it was great to ease weary bones but, could do with shelter overhead to enable more use. We had not tried this kind of holiday before but would definitely recommend, would like stay in a cottage next time though. Overall, had a lovely few days in beautiful area.

We cut our break short my husband wanted to leave the moment we arrived but we stayed until the Thursday.
The cleaner was still there when we arrived at about 3.30 on Sunday the place is Friday change so expected it to be ready . There was lots of damp/dirt in the bathroom and twin room, found a wet dirty towel on the back of our bedroom door. Kitchen hot water tap had no pressure and no hot water maintenance man came and told us we had to boast the water heater. Lack of information about anything on the site or in the chalet , swimming pool was good grandson used it every day partly because there was nothing else to do , the key for the swimming pool area did not work so had to get someone from reception to let us in , they told us we werenât the first person staying at 48 to have this problem it needs sorting. The overall holiday was very disappointing. The site entrance is rough looking the buildings are tired and badly maintained and the first impression is bad , the empty pub/ restaurant area is a shame to see and the was not great . The children park needs maintenance also some bits were dangerous . Some of the window catches are stuck closed so couldnât open them in the case of a fire it would be dangerous. The shower knob was very hard to turn on and off husband had to turn it off because we couldnât. The taps in bathroom sink need changing as they were very hard to turn too . Would not recommend staying here to anyone.

Just WOW. I'd discovered Plas Robin many months ago and stored it in my mind for a special occasion.
When my other half suggested going away for our boys birthday, I knew Plas Robin would be the perfect place. Our boy is our Shih Tzu Bailey, who turned 16 on the day we checked in. He's a very special boy, who recovered from doggy paralysis during the first lock down. We had really high expectations for this trip after looking at reviews and photos but I can honestly say itâs even more amazing in person than you could possibly imagine. The lodge is decorated to such a high standard and is so well equipped, we managed to cook full meals ever day and even bake at the weekend. Bailey spent most of the week sat by the bedroom patio door, looking out into the garden. Us humans switched from watching Netflix, to taking in the beautiful views from the hot tub. Just when I thought our staycation couldn't get anymore perfect, my other half asked me to marry him in front of the fire! Not only did Carol bring a card and a lovely gift to say congratulations to us both, Iâve since found out she also helped arrange for a family member to send us a bouquet of flowers! Plas Robin really has been the most magical break ever and will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you Carol & Dave for creating something so perfect, we canât wait to return. xxxx

We stayed in Shepardâs rest over my birthday in January with our dog Luna and we absolutely loved it.
The property is in a great location with stunning views and an incredible view of the night sky from the hot tub. Carol and David were great hosts and popped up to visit after our arrival to check we had everything we needed and show us how to turn in the hot tub. We also had a lovely welcome hamper waiting for us when we arrived with fresh bread from a local bakery and eggs from their own chickens. The cabin itself is beautiful and quite spacious, with a lovely shower and bath and a really great kitchen. The fridge and freezer are of a good size (we were a bit worried as we brought our dogs food that needs to remain frozen) but it more than accommodated our needs and we were pleased to find out tesco would deliver (the tesco in Newtown is only a short drive anyway). The area was fenced off and whatâs a gate that can be shut to contain any doggys and Luna had a great time running around and exploring as well as playing with lovely Meg the collie! The log fire was a great edition too! Would highly recommend to all!!
